Very good food, I didn’t really had any expectations but I was still surprisingly impressed. Never tried paella before, so I cannot really tell if it was „traditional“ but it was delicious, the same with quesadillas. I also loved the add ons🫶 the lady which was serving us was so lovely as well! Highly recommended

astha chachra

Google
The place is walking distance from Plaza Mayor and is a delight for vegetarians and vegans. The food is presented well and tastes delicious. The lady who served us was very helpful and made our experience really good. We had soya fillet breaded and quinoa timbal and those were really good ! Must recommend place if you are in madrid !

Google
A solid 4.5 for a very pleasant lunch experience so close to our hotel. We had a much needed break from the surrounding bars and restaurants with fried and fatty foods. The pizza was an excellent thincrust with such healthy toppings. We tried the eggplant tempura also but think we'd order some other options next time. Service very pleasant.... with the complementary appetizer and after meal herbal tea infusion a terrific Surprise. Will return our next visit to Madrid

Google
So, I am not vegan, but I enjoy vegan and vegetarian food and there are many options in Madrid. I ordered the berenjenas de tempura with molasses honey as it is the only time I love berenjenas (eggplant), but on this occasion it was very disappointing. It wasn’t really tempura and was lacking in flavour and that freshness I’d expect. It was very underwhelming considering the positive reviews I’d read. I also ordered Nestea (don’t judge me) but got give a variant of nestea - but they insisted it was nestea. It’s like ordering coke and getting a ‘cola’ and being told it’s coke. It’s a minor point but it’s something easily solved. Overall the place is a bit ‘sad’.

Google
My friend and I went here for lunch and it was so good! I got the vegan paella and an appetizer and really enjoyed it. We finished our meal off with a vegan tiramisu which was delightful. Would absolutely recommend.

Mimi Vegan

Google
Great vegan food here. I got the paella, but received a really delicious free entree. The meal was large I was so full after it ! Totally delicious, highly recommend to vegans. Good value.

Google
Excellent food and service. Many great vegan/veg choices and in a great location. A must go.

Google
Tried Vegetarian Paella (no mock meat, they use soy) - 4.5/5 (not sure how close is it from authentic food but we enjoyed it) Nachos with Cheese - The quantity is quite large & tastes just like loaded nachos we know.

Yelp
Great little place for menu del dia at 12 euros. Clean and quiet. Each dish is made fresh and the little dessert jars are fantastic!

Yelp
Best Vegetarian food I've had so far in Spain. Awesome service too! Servers were very friendly and accommodating. Food was very flavorful, creative & nutritious. I also very much appreciated that the food was very hot to the touch. Next time I'll surely visit this place.

Yelp
Amazing and tasty vegetarian Spanish food! They have vegan options too.. One of the best vegetarian restaurants in Madrid!

Yelp
My family and I were vegetarian tourists struggling to find food through Spain and stumbled upon this gem. You get two dishes, salad, dessert, and a drink for 13€. Super flavorful, highly recommend for the risotto. Good place.

Yelp
The place is in great location so close to plaza mayor and their menu has SO many option!! Vegan, vegetarian and also gluten free. We started with the eggplants fritters - so delicious! Then we had the soy steak with Curry, which I liked a bit less, and the veggie paella which I LOVED! Overall great experience, good service and great location!

Yelp
We been traveling and we're looking for some good vegan food, we thought about checking this out, we had ordered Enchiladas, Nacho, Noodles and Pizza. It was prepared with perfection and every penny was worth spent. We loved the food, I would encourage vegetarians to try this out. I wish they had more space so we could all (9 friends). enjoy at the same time.

Yelp
So many beautiful Vegetarian options! I wish we had a restaurant like this in San Diego! It is a charming little place, tucked away from the crowds but still very close to the city center. Family owned and very friendly! I started with the butternut squash soup. It was hearty, delicious and VEGAN! My only complaint is I was so full after this that I didn't get to try anything else. But everyone's plates around me were full of colorful veggies! Something I've been lacking during my time in Spain. I was so impressed with the presentation of every dish on every table! I highly recommend this restaurant if you're in Madrid. Especially if you're looking for a healthy option.

Yelp
The jalapeño poppers were disgusting and they did not remove from our check when we sent them back. The dish on their wall they say they are famous for, moussaka, was mediocre at best. Would not recommend.

Yelp
I searched high and low to make the right selection for my first bite to eat in Spain, and boy did I choose correctly! I heard that Spain had a high concentration of vegans, so I was hopeful that I'd have plenty to eat. My suspicions were confirmed when I found Yerbabuena! Yerbabuena is conveniently located right next to MARKET, and is pretty easy to find. We were promptly seated in the clean and modern seating area. I was delighted to see that all of the other diners were locals! That's always a fantastic sign. The menu is in Spanish, so it's a bit hard to decipher if you're not local. Although, you're guaranteed to find something you'd like by searching for key words! The server (owner?) was absolutely adorable and super sweet! She didn't speak English, but we were able to communicate effectively due to her patience. Our server brought out bread and a small appetizer prior to bringing out our food. The bread was marvelous! It was whole grain and obviously home made. The small appetizer was a small piece of veggie meat, surrounded by veggies and topped with vegan cheese. We each got our own personal one. This was INSANE! My meal came with a side salad, which came out first. I never knew a side salad could be THAT outstanding! It was pure art, and contained everything from watermelon to sesame seeds. The ingredients tied together perfectly and created a deliciously refreshing starter. I ordered the vegan paella. This was my first (of many) paella in Spain, and it definitely left a good taste in my mouth! Let me just start off by emphasizing the artistry that goes into all of their food. It was all assembles beautifully with so much care! We all know that we eat with our eyes first, which lead this meal to be double satisfying. The paella was BURSTING with flavor, had a hearty amount of sauce, and extremely fresh vegetables. This place was an AMAZING entrance to Spain, and I will definitely keep it in mind when I come back.

Yelp
Our favorite vegan place in Madrid. Beautiful green food, with daily menus which delight our taste buds. We had the vegetable soup of the day, salads and their home made desserts. My avocado endive salad was laced with their home made herb dressing - to die for. I could eat here daily. Reservations are compulsory.

Jithu R.

Yelp
The portion sizes are amazing and the food delicious. We got the rolls and the veggie paella and it was perfect. The appetizer rolls themselves could be an entire meal! They were huge! Also, you get some mint tea post food to help. So good! Highly recommend it.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent food! They're vegetarian and vegan entries are super good. I ordered from the Specials menu, which came with an appetizer, bread, a starter an entre, and a desert. I had tempura eggplant for the starter and seitan for the entre. Both were excellent. Very plant-based. The desert made the dinner. Coffee chocolate mousse! This was all for $25. I highly suggest this place.

Yelp
Amazing and original vegan food. The dessert was amazing. This is must in Madrid if you are vegan or veg.

Yelp
Amazing food and completely vegetarian! Please come eat here while in Madrid, it's amazing

Yelp
Excellent Flavor! Excellent Service! Plentiful Portions! We are Sephardi Jews traveling in Pork Loving Spain so Kosher food is VERY HARD to come by. Therefore finding this Vegan restaurant was worth our while. We had stopped here before for a White Latte (Espresso w/Soy Milk) my wife was fleyshik and this is literally the only place near Plaza Mayor that had nondairy lattes. We loved the energy and sweet demeanor of Kiko (host in the front) and promised we would return Motzei Shabbat for Melava Malka. And we did. Kiko seated us and recommended the Salteado Oriental. Loved it, more on that below. But first some Jewish kashrut. I explained to the staff (Kiko and Sheryl) regarding our tradition of Bishul Yisrael and they were very accommodating. Sheryl invited us to the back and Billy helped me to turn on the flame and help prepare the meal, as per Bishul Yisrael necessities. The Salteado Oriental was amazing, very flavorful and a sizeable portion. We come from Middle Eastern backgrounds where food is flavorful and plentiful, fulfilled our expectations. We also had a Infushion Digestiva and it was very calming post our heavy meal. We highly recommend this place, whether you're vegan or an observant Jew who is near Plaza Mayor and would like a nice vegan extremely flavorful dish and willing to explain your needs. If we're back in town we look forward to coming back!

Yelp
SHOCKED by how well this place is reviewed. The most mediocre meal I had all year, let alone in Spain. This restaurant is trying to be and do too much. The amuse-bouche falafel was the best part of the meal, which isn't saying much. The little shot of gazpacho (?) that was also part of the amuse-bouche looked cool but was bland and pointless (a theme of the meal), but I can't hold it against them because it was free. We both got salads, the endive salad and the Yerbabuena salad. The endive salad was meh.. the Yerbabuena had clashing flavored and made no sense. Pineapple, avocado, carrots, tangerines, mango, lettuce, sweet sauces, savory sauces, all mixed in together. The Vegan paella (the reason we came here) was not good. I would recommend the vegetable paella in the San Miguel market instead.

Yelp
Simply marvelous!!! A must go while in Madrid, please check the hour's prior to your visit (something I didn't do). Enjoy!!!

Yelp
Throughout our week-long trip in Spain, this restaurant made top 3. While it definitely is a hidden gem, and took some serious google-ing to discover, I am so glad we did. We dined here the night before our flight back to the states, and so we decided to eat at 8pm...earlier than most spaniards. When we first got there, the cartoon-like green and orange color scheme was a little confusing, but don't judge a book by it's cover! As soon as we ordered and I made our waiter aware of my allergies, he was INCREDIBLY accommodating. The menu is vegetarian/vegan/celiac friendly and actually tells you what menu items are compatible with your dietary restrictions! I almost cried, when, after a week of watching my friends eat bread before our meals and subsequently getting a carb craving, he brought me out rice cakes so that I wouldn't feel left out while my friends enjoyed their multigrain bread. Now, on to the actual food: this was, without a doubt, the most bang-for-your-buck restaurant we dined at throughout the whole trip. The portions were ENORMOUS and DELICIOUS. While only 1 of us was vegetarian, everyone raved about their meal, and it was a welcome break from our cured-meat and manchego-filled diets. I got the gluten free crepe gallette, which was zucchini stuffed with scrambled eggs, leek, potato and Yerbabuena spinach. It was so so so good. My friends got the risotto, the moussaka, and the paella, and everyone had clean plates by the end of the meal. The star of the show, however, was the spring roll-like starter that we shared. It was INCREDIBLE. I dream about it. What struck me most of of all, was not the quality of our meal (which obviously was incredible), but the presentation of it. Each plate was so carefully and thoughtfully designed that I truly believed we were dining in some kind of michelin-star restaurant. And for 15 euros per person, that is truly phenomenal. Living in NYC and being a self-proclaimed "foodie," I have yet to discover a restaurant like this. It is a gem!

Yelp
We had a great dinner, started off with the bread rolls, very tasty. I ordered the Thursday night dinner special: Appetizer: it's free!! And they choose it, it was delicious, two tiny bowls with herb rice topped with a deep fried zucchini and then a pumpkin sauce, a Cherry tomato and a slice if cucumber, served with a small shot of melon water!!! Oh my! I wanted more, much more! First course I chose the potato salad which was super delicious, very refreshing and best if all vegan! Second course I ordered the stuffed peppers, this dish was my least favorite, there is just way too much going on, they need to tone it down a little. We could identify any one particular flavor. So we didn't eat more than 3 forkfuls. Dessert: the layered chocolate & vanilla pudding. So delicious, the bottom layer is vanilla pudding, followed by a cookie, then a caramel like pudding and finally the dark chocolate pudding. This is served in a small glass, enough to share and best if all it isn't too sweet. (See the pictures) TIP: the portions are HUGE! We ordered one of the daily menus and only one dish, and we shared everything. Two people can eat off of one daily menu. Dinner is €15 a steal for how good the food is. And it includes a drink and a tea for the dessert!

Yelp
Here for lunch today. I think this place is really 3.5 stars for the food and 4 for service. It is all vegetarian and the items that are vegan are clearly marked, which is great. I ordered the: Cream of Potatoes and leek soup, which is vegan and quite good. Asian style seitan and tofu pasta, which tasted pretty salty Carrot cake, which was just okay. Hubby had the: Veggie Paella, which he commented wasn't so good. All in all, we thought the service was great, but the food was just meh. We like that it is vegetarian and vegan friendly.

Amit K.

Yelp
By far the best Vegan food we have ever eaten. We are vegetarians and do not eat any meat, eggs, or sea food. So Vegan places are something we are always looking for. During recent trip to Madrid, we tried Yerbabuena and loved the food. From initial starters to main course to dessert, everything was delicious, fresh, presented very well and lovingly served. We loved Paella, Vegan Sphagetti, Vegan meatloaf, and Seitan with pasta dishes. And Desserts were to die for. I have never eaten a better Vegan Tiramisu and I have tried many. If you are in Madrid and want to try vegan food, do give this gem a try. Loved it!!

Yelp
Very nice, friendly service, Vegetarian spot in the heart of Madrid. Tasty vegetarian food in a cozy spot with amazing presentation. A must visit for vegetarians when in Madrid

Yelp
Man, I wanted to like this place. Their gazpacho was very yummy but all in all it all seemed wrong; either bland (my dad's egg galette) or strangely spiced (my seitan which really tasted like gingerbread??? And was stacked over unseasoned tofu). The chocolate mousse had some layer on the bottom that tasted very weird, although the mousse was pretty good. Strangely presented in rusty glass jars, which I appreciate for the eco friendly aspect but maybe they should take the lids off first because they didn't look too appealing. Maybe I'm being harsh, but there are good vegan options out there and I hate that this one supports the stereotypes of veggie food not tasting good (except for the gazpacho, that's what got them an extra star)! If you are vegan and cant find other options or desperate to have a meal with a break from heavier, saltier, fried foods and get in your serving of vegetables this works but is not good either.

Yelp
Yerbabuena was on the list of vegan/veggie places to try in Madrid. I wanted so badly for it to be awesome. It was not. It was just ok. The whole time I was thinking that we should have just gone back to La Ecomienda. The service is great, the food was good, but it was really nothing spectacular.
google avatar

Jen K.

Yelp
Loved this place!! Thoroughly enjoyed the setas con pimientos as the appetizer and the bistec de seitán for the main course. Portion sizes were generous as well. Dessert was a delicious coffee cream cold treat, which was served with a lovely warm green tea. I highly recommend this centrally located restaurant to anyone looking for high quality food and friendly service!
google avatar

Alex B.

Yelp
So so disappointed! And a bit embarrassed because I was the one who suggested having dinner at the Yerbabuena. I was so looking forward after reading the Yelp reviews and excited experiencing a madrilenian veggie heaven. But I am sorry to say: it was not what I expected at ALL. We were 5. All of us ordered 1 main course. Everybody chose a different one. We had: goats cheese, vegetarian foie with tofu (me), spinach spaghettis, Canelones and Risotto. After the well ment appetizer of the house (unusual but interesting way of fruit salad with tortilla) the mains were served; but mostly cold. Probably because they started preparing everything together but forgot somehow, that risotto ALWAYS takes the longest to cook. So, our food was cold (such a shame really, it might have been tasty...) while the risotto was warm. We also felt that the portions were enormous and bulky. Sometimes less is more.... Good point: a bottle of wine for 13.00€! Ah, and by the way: we were charged for the bread which we did not order, which waited already patiently on a side plate when we sat down. I wish we would have gone to a different restaurant. Sorry.....

Yelp
LOVED, LOVED this place! Menu has you choose a starter, entree and dessert. They will bring you a roll and amuse-bouche with a fruit smoothie shot. I ordered the gazpacho, eggplant lasagna, and the almond mousse; hubby ordered the quesadillas. Everything was SOOOO tasty! I loathe nuts, but the almond mousse tasted just like peanut butter mousse - (which, I thought it was, but hubby said it was definitely almond - Either way, by far, it was my favorite dessert in Madrid). And every plate was beautifully presented - Note: they do enjoy garnishing with bean sprouts, which I enjoy, so a total plus for me. Compared to Artemisa, I preferred Yerbabuena, but both are EXCELLENT choices for vegetarians. If we end up back in Madrid, will definitely be coming back!
google avatar

Mary K. S.

Yelp
Really great vegetarian food! We ordered the menu del día for 20 euro and got so much food we could barely walk out. Everything was excellent. I wade especially impressed that they labeled all their gluten free and vegan options. I wish that the menu del día was less expensive and they served some smaller portions. That would have been perfect. If I went back, and I may just do so, I would only order one dish.
google avatar

Amit A.

Yelp
Blown away by the # of veggie tofu options but ended up craving quesadillas Beets+celery+.... juice ordered ; refreshing Veggie quesadilla: tasty melted cheese with whole veggies (eggplant, bell pepper,...) Mango with berry fruit mix like a parfait very refreshing I almost wish the portions were smaller so I could have ordered one more dish because there were so many options For someone use to delicious sauces from the US, they may wish they had a bottle of their favorite salsa with them to take the experience to the next level Offered tea afterward which was very calming
google avatar

François A.

Yelp
Did I have too high expectations from my first vegetarian restaurant in Madrid? I was a little disappointed with the food which was quite plain - a few veg and too much noodle - and way too salty for my taste. Admittedly I showed up quite late (11pm!) and all the items on the menu of the day were already gone. The menu has some good deals for sure and I would go back for another try eventually.
google avatar

Zachary M.

Yelp
This is one of the most unique restaurants that I have ever eaten in!!! The restaurant was chosen by a friend and I because of the vegetarian menu, and we actually loved it so much we came back for seconds another night! The food was definitely different (in a good way), and surprised us! The lasagna is killer, the staff are friendly, and I would recommend this to anyone in the area!

Inside J.

Yelp
Overhyped - the food is OK but not great, service can be much better. As a vegetarian traveler, seemed very enticing based on the review but failed miserably to the expectations. The Paella was very soggy, other dishes were vegetarian for sure, but lacked taste. Try elsewhere if you are a vegetarian traveler.
google avatar

P R.

Yelp
So good we went twice! Really interesting and innovative dishes as the pictures show. Huge menu and good choices for vegans too. The portions are huge, so although prices are low don't be tempted to order too much.. Almost everything comes with a side salad on the plate. Friendly staff, colourful restaurant that we stumbled upon in the back street. Will be back

Sumanth C.

Yelp
I am a vegetarian, and I wanted to have Paella in Spain! Thanks to Yelp (and free wifi from the nearby Apple Store) I managed to find this small lil place with some great options! The Paella I had tasted as yummy as it looked! The sale was good too, and so was the mango and papaya blended juice. I initially thought that the service was a tad slow until I realized that I enjoyed this leisurely, late night, dinner! So in hindsight, it was great since I actually had a relaxing meal on an otherwise hectic day!
google avatar

Alexandre P.

Yelp
Not so good. I tried the musaki and my friend the Canelonni, and we did not like it so much. The waiter is nice, offered us tea and a appetizer. But I would not recommand for people used to eat vegan/veggie food
google avatar

Camilo P.

Yelp
Another solid vegetarian/vegan restaurant in meat heavy Spain! Spacious seating with plentiful portions on the menu. We had the spaghetti bolognese with an additional tofu dish. They were both good and had large portions. Initially I had ordered the wrong pasta dish (by my own mistake due to my bad pronunciation) and when I asked the waitress if I could actually have the other pasta dish after apologizing profusely she just rolled her eyes, said ok and walked away. That was definitely not what I expected so that aspect was disappointing. However, the food was good. It lacked a little flavor compared to some other vegan friendly restaurants in Spain but in terms of breadth of menu it was great. I would recommend it because it is also in a good (convenient) location in Madrid.
google avatar

Lora P.

Yelp
Delicious vegetarian fare between Sol and Opera stations. Particularly enjoyed the Yerbabuena special bebida - made of mint, yogurt, lemon.
google avatar

Sarah C.

Yelp
Such a good vegan spot in central Madrid. It can be tough to find vegetarian/vegan options that fill you up & are satisfying in Spain, that have multilingual menus. This place has both Spanish + English menus & you don't have to worry about finding meat in your food by surprise! The service is awesome too. Highly recommend this place!

Sushant R.

Yelp
Great food (taste, quality and quantity)! Excellent menu del dia (lots of food for €20)
google avatar

Adrianna S.

Yelp
Excellent! Very creative flavors all tasted wonderful. Potato salad and mango shooter were both nice. Vegetarian paella and canelone were great. Pizza was probably our favorite and very different. Veggie burger was good. Chocolate ice cream and brownie deserts were tasty and very rich.

Miranda R.

Yelp
This place is incredible. If you are in Madrid and you don't try this place, you've missed out. As a vegetarian this may be one of the best places I've ever ever eaten vegetarian food. Each dish is so beautiful presented and so flavourful. As a vegetarian you get served the same things over and over again so it is SO nice to come to a place like this with such unique dishes. It's also incredible value and very large portions.
google avatar

Brooke D.

Yelp
Halve the portions, and the food should taste fresh, not like it's been sitting on a hot balcony all afternoon. Hot dishes hot, cold dishes cold, and all food deserves to be seasoned. Dry bread? No butter? No oil? And my dears, not everything needs frisée, sprouts, and pine nuts. Fresh vegetables can sing, while the dishes here were more like static between stations. Smiles for pleasant waitstaff and yummy tomatoes.
google avatar

Danny W.

Yelp
Best vegan table in ages. A party discovering all flavors and structures. Delicate use of spices and well balanced ingredients. Big portions, so don't be afraid you won't be rolling out belly round. Small eaters can share easily starters and main. Maybe one of the main reasons to visit Madrid again. :) (written by a meat lover fyi)
google avatar

Nikhil J.

Yelp
Friendly staff, great food. Located just off Plaza Mayor. Don't expect authentic Spanish cuisine, this is authentic vegetarian/vegan cuisine. There is something here for every palate (raw, vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, mock-meat, vegetables only, etc.) I ordered the seitan plate and it was delicious. The portions are quite hefty, as well. The desserts looked great, the chocolate ice cream (not vegan!) was good. Please note that nobody on staff speaks English, though the menu does have English translations.
google avatar

Jacqueline J.

Yelp
This was one of my favorite vegan/vegetarian restaurants in Madrid. Must-eat. The service was on point, they have fair pricing, and the food was incredible. I ordered the green risotto and vegan strawberry cheesecake and it was awesome. I'll definitely head here next time I'm in Madrid!

Megan S.

Yelp
Had a vegetarian friend visit and needed to jump outside the jamon zone I usually stay in. Yerbabuena was our best veggie meal in Madrid, and weeks later I'm still impressed enough to finally write a review. Beautiful, generous dishes overflowing with incredible flavors. My vegetarian friend is gone, but I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
One of the best meals I've ever had. The flavors, unique dishes, beautiful plating...just epic all around. This place gets my highest recommendation! Make a reservation if you can, but if you come right when they open you may be lucky enough to get a table. VERY vegan friendly--vegan options are clearly labeled and if you just let them know you're vegan when you order, they'll hook you up.

Nishant S.

Yelp
4 Stars for the quality of food, 5 stars for portion size, 3 stars for price. Having enjoyed lunch menu at a number of places in Madrid, 20 euros felt really expensive. But this place is definitely worth visiting once. Chef gives a very Spanish feel to vegetarian dishes which frankly is a rarity. Tea is served as part of the lunch menu and together with bread and appetizer, is a meal in itself. The dish I ordered had a funny name but it was delicious and the portion size was good. Other than the fact that it is pricey, I cannot say anything negative about this place.
