The 7 Best Hostels in Lisbon (Updated 2025)

"Despite its party atmosphere, I found the facilities super modern and clean and the spacious rooms surprisingly quiet — many have privacy curtains and en-suite bathrooms, and the bigger rooms even include a table; the 10 EUR communal dinners are tasty with vegetarian options, there’s a large kitchen if you prefer to cook, and the hostel runs free walking tours and pub crawls that make it easy to meet other travelers." - Matthew Kepnes

I keep coming back to YES Hostel every year because the staff and facilities are truly amazing. The team always makes me feel welcomed and at home, and the location is perfect in the heart of Lisbon. The hostel is clean, comfortable, and well organised. It has everything you need for a great stay. A very big thank you to Nofar, Claudia, Cristina, Pedro, Ricky, Manny, Tiago, Tago, Paula, Julie, Fieffe, Chandan, Gustavo and Danielle for making every visit special. This will always be my go-to place in Lisbon. Highly recommend!

Google
My stay at Yes! Lisbon hostel was amazing. The rooms were great value, and the staff energetic and friendly. The atmosphere in the downstairs bar area is wonderful. Easy to meet new friendly people here, especially with all the events like the bar crawl. Highly recommend!!

Google
Obrigado!! Nice location and great facilities. The 4 euro breakfast is very convenient. The restrooms and rooms always clean!! Nice shared kitchen too. My only complaint is the noise downstairs, I could hear everything. The music and people talking. And i heard some people talking loud in the middle of the night on the corridors and using the hairdryer. Not sure, but I think the walls and doors are very thin.

I was recommended this hostel from another traveler while staying at a hostel in Barcelona. He said they were very warm and welcoming and he loved that they did regular family dinners there. I checked it out while I was in Lisbon and was not disappointed. The staff and guests were all very friendly and super helpful. I jumped in to one of their pub crawls (led by Tiago who was just awesome!!) and felt right at home. People looked out for each other and we had a really fun adventure together. I would definitely come back next time I'm in Lisbon.

Google
My experience has been abysmal. Ricky is a staff member that abuses his power to favor certain guests. I do not recommend this hostel to anyone. The Lost Inn is far superior. The location is better, the service is better, and the rooms are better. Furthermore, I did not feel safe in the Yes! Hostel for a multitude of reasons. The front door was constantly left open and unattended at late hours of the night, the staff are all creepy, and the events are 😣 . Do not stay here.

Google
Great hostel experience at Yes! Fantastic location 2 min walk from Baixa metro and 5 min walk to Pink Street/Time out market along with other bars etc. Room clean and cool with air con Lovely staff too who arranged for me to swap beds on my second night (as the bottom was empty and I find it easier at the bottom) and everything wasn’t any hassle for them. It’s a shame I had a football match to attend otherwise I would have tried the pub crawls and other activities, obrigado Yes! team

Google
I had an amazing experience staying in this hostel. I felt very welcome, safe and comfortable as a solo traveller. I stayed on the women’s only floor and it was clean and not noisy at all. The staff were all incredibly friendly and kind. It is a great place to stay if you are solo and looking to meet people as they have lots of events and a shared common area in the lobby. I went on 2 walking tours with Wendel and Paola, which were both great! I also went on a day tour of Sintra which I also really really enjoyed and thought was a super great price. If you are solo traveling this is an amazing place to stay!

Google
I do not recommend this hostel to anyone. The Lost Inn is much better. We spent 2 nights at each and there is no competition. Everyone at the lost inn were not only helpful, but also kind. Everyone that works at Yes! is a loser. The Vibes are weak at best and everything they offer is an overpriced trap. Ricky, a staff member, told me that if I ordered food after 2am I would be able to wait in the lounge area. After I ordered my food, he told me I was "not allowed to use any electronics" while I waited for my food. I am from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA and I was planning on silently watching my home football team (The Eagles... GO BIRDS) while I waited for my food. He kicked me out while I was waiting, telling me that I had to give up my seat for "Drunk people that want to order food". I think that is absurd. Especially because I, myself, was most definitely drunk and waiting for food. Little people like to abuse the little power they have. Do not make the mistake I made. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Yelp
One of, if not the best hostels I've ever stayed in. Clean. Friendly. Convenient. Fantastic location. It was a bit warm in the room but that's to everyone expected of Europe in the summer. I would happily stay here again. They have a dinner every night. I stayed in for it my last night and it turned out to be one of the best meals I had in Lisbon. The staff is so friendly and fun. The beds are a little hard but still on the more comfortable side as far as hostels go. The showers and bathrooms were clean. I honestly can't say enough good things about this place.

Yelp
Best location for a hostel hands down. Security is great, everyone is buzzed in so the front desk knows who is coming in. The staff... everyone was wonderful and friendly. Bedrooms were good. The privacy curtin was a huge plus. Recommend you get the dinner deal at the hostel. You get great filling 4 course meal plus unlimited alcohol drinks!! You also get a chance to meet and chat with fellow guests. It was easy to find friends and learn different languages. That 11pm free shot is the best! brb (3 Months Later...) What can I say more? Second time staying here in the past 3 month. The crew remembers me and are always friendly as I remember them. I have nothing negative to say about this place. I did the Sintra excursion and it was great. Despite Luís' car accident he was there and made sure every one enjoyed their time. They exemplify the Portuguese/Brazilian culture of kindness and hospitality. I would go back and back to this hostel. It feels like my second home. Cheers to the crew and the housekeepers.

Yelp
Absolutely best hostel. Very diverse people and very friendly staff that is on 24/7. They have a bar and the drinks are pretty good. Overall best traveling experience I've had. Also very clean rooms. They will even serve you breakfast lunch and dinner for a small price

Yelp
Yes! Lisbon Hostel was the best! The staff was amazing- Pedro especially! We only stayed for three nights and somehow the amazing staff remembered everyone's names. It was so personable. They truly made us feel at home. One of the best parts is the family style dinners each night. It's super cheap, (10€) unlimited alcohol and you'll meet so many cool & diverse people. The hostel itself is clean, tiday and modern. The furniture is new and well kept. They made us feel so welcome and it definitely felt like home. Everything was clean and beautifully designed. Again, the staff was more than amazing and got to know us all individually. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else while in Lisbon.

Yelp
Ten stars for my favorite hostel in Europe. The famous Portuguese hospitality is alive and well here. There are so many good things about this hostel that I'm sure I'm not going to be able mention them all: -amazing hospitality: the nightly dinners at 9 are an amazing way to connect with others - the best beds ever: they are just as comfy as 5 star hotels I've stayed in - bathrooms with rain showers which I love - the hostel offers a bunch of interesting activities like day tours to nearby towns, highly recommended! Basically I love everything about this place, and I'm so glad I didn't decide to spend my nights elsewhere to save a few euro. I am notoriously hard to please, I was so lucky to stumble upon this place.

Yelp
It took me longer than usual to pick a hostel in Lisbon. All of my options looked fine. They were all highly rated, seemed clean, tastefully decorated, and had great amenities. I really wasn't sure which to choose, so I took to Facebook. From my buddies, I got 3 recommendations and Yes! Lisbon was one of them, already on my top 5 list. It seemed like a sign, so I booked with them and took the metro system from the airport. The metro was super easy to navigate. I purchased a 24hr ticket which was perfect for my ride there and back. Not sure if buying two one-ways would have been cheaper, but I didn't know how much I would need to travel the city. Thankfully most cool things are within walking distance from the hostel. Upon arriving, I was greeted by a lovely hostel staff member (all of them were amazing - Fabio probably was my favorite) who made me a Portuguese drink on the house after he saw how tired I was from traveling and carrying heavy luggage. From there, I put my bags down and met a group of lovely people right from the beginning. The hostel guys convinced me to do the hostel dinner. It was cheap, seemed delicious, and would be better than eating alone at some overpriced restaurant, which was my original plan. The food was amazing and came with an open bar for a few hours of sangria, wine, and beer! Needless to say, I filled up on rice and sangria. After the dinner, we all gathered for a cute speech and free shots. The next day, I was pretty hungover and the bean bag chairs didn't do me any good (they were too comfortable). For 2€ you can get a filling breakfast, but note that pretty much everything is glutinous minus the eggs. There's also tea, coffee, and fruit included! It was surprisingly hard for me to leave this hostel. Everyone there was so interesting and kind. I could probably stay for a week or two. Highly recommend! A+!

Yelp
Loved this hostel, so many fun events and such friendly staff! Clean accommodations and great dinner. Definitely a good place to stay if you're looking to meet other young travelers.

Yelp
I wrote a bad review after a pub crawl gone bad. This hostel is a great way to meet people if you are traveling with friends or alone. The staff is very nice and attentive. It is way cleaner than any hostel I've been too and it's a fun time, but still a quiet place to sleep. Ronata and G are a breath of fresh air. I loved them. The pub crawl was ok. Bruno is a very nice smooth talker who does his job well. My advice to them is to avoid the douches rip off club scene and to stick to the local bars. The clubs at the end ruin the experience and they are just tourist traps that charge ridiculous amounts for drinks example: Place Lisbon).

Yelp
Amazing hostel and I had a great experience. The staff is super friendly and make an effort to remember your name and things about you. The dinners were great and provided an excellent way to meet people. The hostel itself was also super clean, like the cleanest hostel I've ever been in. FULL DISCLOSURE though: I did get eaten alive by bed bugs while I was there but I know that this is not always the hostels fault. The hostel was very clean and well maintained, I assume that someone brought them in from their travels and it just spread like wildfire because there are so many people in close proximity. Even with that, I would STILL go back and stay again, I'll give them a bit of time to get rid of the bugs though. lol That's how good of a hostel it is. They manager made a effort to refund my money just it's a little difficult because I was leaving the day I noticed the bites but I appreciated the effort. Only gave 4 stars because of the bugs , would have been five stars without .

Yelp
I highly recommend this place especially for travelers looking to have fun and meet new people. Dinner at the hostel is a great deal and the food is always good, the vibe is friendly and laid back. Everything is clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful (ask them for local recommendations!).The pub crawl I did wasn't great, but I think they are working on improving that.

Yelp
Very nice hostel. The downstairs communal area is large, comfortable, and a good way to meet people. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is great - it's really easy to walk to many of Lisbon's sights, and you're very close to the water. I also really liked the electronic bracelet keys - I hate having physical keys when I'm traveling because I'm always worried I'll lose them. This hostel gives you a bracelet with an electronic key embedded in it, so you don't have to think about it. It's also a good way to identify who else is staying there. I stayed in a 4-person room and it was nice and quiet. I would stay here again!

Yelp
Worste experience ever because of a huge Attack of bed bugs. Because of a skin inflammation I ended up at Sao José Hospital. Those people nearly ruined my holidays. I did not appreciate how th manager tried to blackmail me as I let people know about the incident. Very dishonest attitude...

Hannes K.

Yelp
We stayed there as a Group of six persons in six-bed-room. The bathrooms and the kitchen very clean, what I was suprised about since I have some Hostel experience. The staff was very friendly. Everyone could speak english fluently. In the evenings the Hostel offers dinner and free drinks for a decent price. I would recomment to stay there.

Yelp
Fabio and (Renatta?) were so amazingly welcoming and friendly. What a great vibe. I loved having dinner with the hostel, great way to mingle and chat. The Pub Crawl was iffy, I know its not easy to lead a pub crawl and Mario was a good guy. My issue was that the second bar/club was very far away from the first bar and the 3rd club was horrible, tried to make the guys pay to get out even though our guide told us it was free with pubcrawl. ALL IN ALL, I WILL BE BACK, GREAT PLACE!

Yelp
Yes! Lisbon Hostel was my favorite hostel in Europe. The staff there was very friendly and knowledgable. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean and the traditional Portuguese dinners were delicious for a reasonable price, with unlimited alcohol included.

Yelp
Stayed for 4 nights. By far the best hostel I've ever stayed in. Staff were all so kind, inviting and helpful. They really ensure you are enjoying your stay. Front desk had so many resources for tours and activities around the city. Hostel was very clean, secure and all the guests were friendly. Hostel offered a tour to Sintra for 15€ that was incredible and definitely worth the money. For 10€, the guests all eat a delicious dinner together with an included open bar. Dinners at hostel were very accommodating of dietary restrictions. Great free breakfast in the morning. Very strong air conditioning (controllable) and reliable wifi. The customer service was above and beyond expected. Would recommend to anyone travelling to Lisbon.
