The staff at Yewfield are absolutely lovely, very friendly and welcoming. Our retreat was run over 3 days, and the food was delicious, with plenty of options for me as a gluten free diner. Rooms and grounds were an absolute delight - very peaceful and backing right onto paths leading over to Tarn Hows. Highly recommended.

Absolutely beautiful place, the rooms were lovely and clean. The area is beautiful and the staff I spoke to were lovely. Walks right front the door and all amenities were thought of, not a single fault to find. Will definitely be returning as soon as possible. It's also easy to get to but slightly out of the way which is perfect and plenty of places a short drive away.

Loved the tasty breakfasts, charming house, and big rooms with very comfortable beds. |The ability to walk through the beautiful grounds to Tarn Hows was brilliant too.||We stayed two nights and I wish we’d stayed longer. |Highly recommended.

Stayed here very many times in many different rooms. All beautifully presented with lovely outlooks. The guest house is a real gem and has a homely feeling. A roaring fire (in winter months) with comfy sofas in the lounge area is part of the breakfast room. Good selection of freshly prepared fruits and cereals with options for all dietary requirements well labelled. Eggs cooked to order with the usual delicious additions to a veggie breakfast. Endless coffee and toast to finish. There are lovely walks direct from the doorstep and two fabulous restaurants under the same ownership for dinner in the evening just a short drive away.

We booked one of the converted barns and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The accommodation is well presented, open fronted with great gardens. Friendly greeting and good information provided on local walks. The best walks are out the back of the house through the fields and there’s a beautiful lake. I strong;y recommend anyone to stay here for a long weekend or week…….. or two.

What a delightful place to stay. A hidden gem indeed|A strictly vegetarian hotel that has stunning views, amazing rooms, a jacuzzi in the en-suite we had as well as a rain shower, and most importantly absolutely excellent customer service |The wonderful Ananya (I hope I’ve spelt that correctly) was an absolute gem, and looked after us from the moment we arrived till the moment we left||I cannot recommend Yewfield highly enough

Yelp
Yewfield is a vegetarian bed and breakfast situated in on Hawkshead Hill near Ambleside. We went there last year for a few days in October. Having survived the seven hour drive and constant diversions because of massive flooding, we arrived at Yewfield tired and hungry. Yewfield is a largish country house and our room was quite palacial, a four poster bed with a good feeling of space. However, because of its relative remoteness, venturing out for a meal in the evening in the lashing rain and down unfamiliar windy narrow lanes was an experience! I think because of its location, people would definitely pay to have an evening meal, rather than venture out, but as the name says its a bed and breakfast. Breakfast was served in the lounge area which was bathed in early morning light, overlooking the garden, a great setting! This lounge area also a good range of comfortable sofas and a decent library of books to peruse. The breakfast had a decent variety of fruit and cereals, followed by a vegetarian cooked breakfast, toast and a good cup of coffee or tea. Yewfield is set atop of a hill and is surrounded by a large wildlife garden, which makes Yewfield a very peaceful setting. It also hosts classical musical recitals and has adjoining self catering apartments. Yewfield makes a good base for exploring the Lake District, but if you want to go anywhere, you will have to drive. We will definitely be returning to Yewfield, standing out on a crisp autumnal evening staring at the myriad of stars in a pollution free sky was just magical!
