I enjoyed a fabulous Pilates retreat here. The staff were amazing and incredibly attentive. The studio with it's log burner was out of this world. I plan to return with my husband for a short break in the future. Great walks from the house.

We had a wonderful weekend on our Yoga Retreat. The food was delicious and the open fire and comfy sofas were very welcoming in the stormy weather conditions. Will be back!

Lovely location and wonderful hosts, slightly outdated decor but nothing to really complain about! Breakfast was lovely and we dined as non-vegetarian guests but were not disappointed by lack of meat! Lovely family run feel to the place and perfectly located nearby lovely walking routes and GoApe!

This is my 7th stay here, there is no place I'd rather be. From the beautiful apartments which are a really high standard and very cozy at the same time to the wonderful breakfast which lots of thought has gone into, down to the perfectly toasted hazelnuts on top of my porridge. Breakfast can be as healthy or as indulgent as you like. I mixed it up a little from day to day. This time our apartment had bi folding doors, so we could feel the elements and the look out at fabulous view whilst being inside. I'm looking forward to coming back already.

Just back from another visit to Yewfield, this time on my own for a little personal retreat. I arrived on a stormy day, just as the flood waters were rising around the area, and there I remained for 48 hours until the roads were clear again - but if I had to be stuck somewhere, this was the place to be! Linda, Christine and the team were so friendly and kind, and made sure I had some supplies to keep me going on top of the delicious vegan breakfasts. Hanging out in my room and in the lounge in front of the fire (for a couple of nights the only guest) was so relaxing. I also enjoyed a very soggy walk through the woods from Tarn Hows in a (thwarted) attempt to get to Coniston, but was beaten back by the rising water levels. Always a treat to stay here, and now looking forward to returning in better weather!

The serene, quiet nature was all we needed, plus the beautiful walking trails to what feels like a private lake. I spent 2 days reading here on the grass, and one morning jogging around the lake. The breakfast was delicious and the staff were friendly. Yewfield is situated far from Ambleside and tucked away above backroads - be careful if you drive here that you're comfortable on one-way roads and very narrow drives. Also, note that there is no lunch or dinner served (I believe) and no kitchen, so prepare what your plan is. If you only stay 2 nights, you will not get a cleaning service between those days.

Lovely views, really tranquil. Fabulous room, great vegetarian breakfast. Been there a few times and always happy to go back. Scenic walk to Tarn Hows from the house.

Yelp
Yewfield is a vegetarian bed and breakfast situated in on Hawkshead Hill near Ambleside. We went there last year for a few days in October. Having survived the seven hour drive and constant diversions because of massive flooding, we arrived at Yewfield tired and hungry. Yewfield is a largish country house and our room was quite palacial, a four poster bed with a good feeling of space. However, because of its relative remoteness, venturing out for a meal in the evening in the lashing rain and down unfamiliar windy narrow lanes was an experience! I think because of its location, people would definitely pay to have an evening meal, rather than venture out, but as the name says its a bed and breakfast. Breakfast was served in the lounge area which was bathed in early morning light, overlooking the garden, a great setting! This lounge area also a good range of comfortable sofas and a decent library of books to peruse. The breakfast had a decent variety of fruit and cereals, followed by a vegetarian cooked breakfast, toast and a good cup of coffee or tea. Yewfield is set atop of a hill and is surrounded by a large wildlife garden, which makes Yewfield a very peaceful setting. It also hosts classical musical recitals and has adjoining self catering apartments. Yewfield makes a good base for exploring the Lake District, but if you want to go anywhere, you will have to drive. We will definitely be returning to Yewfield, standing out on a crisp autumnal evening staring at the myriad of stars in a pollution free sky was just magical!
