I really enjoyed my time in Apollo Bay. The YHA is the perfect place to stay to do the first leg of the great ocean walk - can be accessed a short distance away at the beach. Access to the building and room is great with swipe card. Place is very clean, room was quickly warmed by the heater, the kitchen is well appointed. I like the helpful information boards. The people working there were helpful with bookings and other questions. Very relaxing and chilled out place. I’ll definitely return to stay and do more walks in this spectacular area.

Very handy for a good price - stayed here with my partner whilst on a great ocean road trip. We wanted somewhere in town that was easy access to everything nearby. YHA met all requirements: Clean, affordable and easy access to Apollo Bay. I can imagine it's good for people looking for a social space - but even for us who were just using YHA as a stopover it was ideal!

We stayed at YHA Apollo Bay Eco for one night, and overall, it was a great experience that exceeded our expectations, especially considering how affordable it was. It’s a perfect stopover spot if you’re traveling along the Great Ocean Road. The first thing we noticed was the beautiful surroundings — the views from the hostel are stunning, with greenery and ocean views that make it feel very peaceful and close to nature. The whole place has a calm, eco-friendly vibe that fits well with the natural beauty of the area. One of the things we really appreciated was the location. It's right in the heart of Apollo Bay, so you can easily walk to nearby restaurants, cafes, and the beach. There’s also plenty to do in the area — walking trails, shops, and local attractions are all nearby, which made it easy to explore without needing to drive anywhere. There are two shared kitchens that are fully equipped, which was super convenient for preparing meals. The hostel also has two living areas, a study room, and an indoor games room that includes pool, table soccer, Monopoly, and more — great for relaxing after a day of exploring. Overall, it’s a great budget-friendly place to stay with everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable night. We’d definitely stay again if we’re passing through Apollo Bay!

Excellent rest stop along the YHA. Clean rooms, showers & the kitchen. We cooked a meal here & the kitchen was spacious , well stocked. The WiFi was the worst - works only in the reception and the lounge room next to it.

A great location in Apollo Bay. Quiet and cosy.Beds were comfortable and worked for our family. The facilities in the kitchen were kept clean, as were the toilets. We visited in a quieter time of the year, so there weren’t so many guests. Good value for money

Recently stayed for 2 nights. Good location only 5 mins walking to Main Street. Plenty parking spots. Clean facilities and well equipped common areas. Comfy private room and comfortable. Only critique staying in room 1 is fairly noisy hearing the hallway door open and female hand dryers in toilets.

Squeaky clean place, on a quiet side street of Apollo Bay. Short walk from town centre and bus stop. I was able to check in early. Towels and extra blankets are available. Charlie from reception was exceptionally nice. Only small downside: in my opinion the mattress could be upgraded. I would come back any time.

Great hostel. Stopped here for a couple of days on my bike ride across the GOR (winter). Well equipped kitchen and inviting common areas. Clean and airy bathrooms and showers. Pillow was a bit thick and the bed was a bit lopsided. If you're sensitive, pick your bunk wisely. Staff at reception were also friendly, and there's a bunch of stuff to do nearby; it's just a 5 minute walk down to the town center. Additional points for great architecture and green design principles. Enjoyed my stay in beautiful Apollo bay.

Yelp
Very clean and well furnished. It's a shame I only stayed here for one night, just like from of the other travelers/backpackers who just wanted to find a stop on Great Ocean Road. The common room with the fireplace was amazing. It gave you chills like you were home. Especially friendly for those who were driving. I parked my car outside of my room, and boom, I could walk to my car through the other door directly without going around the corridor then main exit etc. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Check-in was a breeze. I would have stayed for a night more and just to explore Great Ocean Road further if I had the chance again. Yet since almost everyone was passing by for a day or two coming in or out, you don't expect any crazy party or anything. Well, Apollo Bay was a quiet tiny town anyway. By the way, the surfs here were disappointing. Just.. don't think about it.
