YHA Apollo Bay Eco

I really enjoyed my time in Apollo Bay. The YHA is the perfect place to stay to do the first leg of the great ocean walk - can be accessed a short distance away at the beach. Access to the building and room is great with swipe card. Place is very clean, room was quickly warmed by the heater, the kitchen is well appointed. I like the helpful information boards. The people working there were helpful with bookings and other questions. Very relaxing and chilled out place. I’ll definitely return to stay and do more walks in this spectacular area.

My wife and I enjoyed staying here. It’s great value, clean and tidy. Check-in was seamless and the staff were friendly and very helpful with local tips. The hostel is in easy walking distance to the beach, cafes and the pub.

Recently stayed at this marvellous spot - what a brilliant way to experience this gorgeous area. Clean, modern rooms, brilliant location and very thoughtful & friendly staff. Facilities top rate, would definitely recommend 👍👏

This was by far the worst stay on our route down from Sydney. Paid almost $400 for two nights and had according expectations, which were not met. While first appearance is nice and modern, everything is kind of worn, dirty or broken. Windows didn’t close, spiderwebs and bugs in room, frying pans dirty and warped… there are only two toilets per gender, and they are never clean, and showers don’t work properly, and overall it was just lousy experience. The only good things were a comfy bed and washing machine for four dollars and for this ridiculous price, you even made me pull and return thw bedsheets. I’ve had far better stays with air-conditioning for half price.

The property is poorly maintained, with several fixtures broken, including the shower. The room has no proper air circulation—there is no air conditioning, no fan, and no window that opens. This place is suitable only if you need a basic bed to sleep, with no expectation of comfort.

I had an amazing stay here recently, the staff are awesome, really friendly and hospitable! The rooms are clean, tidy and comfy and the facilities are much the same. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for some accom in the area!

My experience with YHA was extremely disappointing. The staff were unprofessional and unhelpful from the moment I arrived. Instead of providing clear information, they were rude and dismissive, and it felt like they had no interest in assisting guests at all. The service was slow, the communication was poor, and issues were not resolved even after repeatedly asking. For a place that is supposed to be welcoming and supportive for travellers, this was the opposite.Very uncomfortable beds, very small rooms, Toilets are bit dirty, I left feeling frustrated and let down. I would not recommend this YHA to anyone and will not be staying here again.

Really great stay and would have been 5 stars, but the WiFi did not work at all during our stay which was not ideal. The kitchen was great and the rooms were nice. Staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Very clean and well furnished. It's a shame I only stayed here for one night, just like from of the other travelers/backpackers who just wanted to find a stop on Great Ocean Road. The common room with the fireplace was amazing. It gave you chills like you were home. Especially friendly for those who were driving. I parked my car outside of my room, and boom, I could walk to my car through the other door directly without going around the corridor then main exit etc. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Check-in was a breeze. I would have stayed for a night more and just to explore Great Ocean Road further if I had the chance again. Yet since almost everyone was passing by for a day or two coming in or out, you don't expect any crazy party or anything. Well, Apollo Bay was a quiet tiny town anyway. By the way, the surfs here were disappointing. Just.. don't think about it.
