We stayed at YHA Apollo Bay Eco for one night, and overall, it was a great experience that exceeded our expectations, especially considering how affordable it was. It’s a perfect stopover spot if you’re traveling along the Great Ocean Road.
The first thing we noticed was the beautiful surroundings — the views from the hostel are stunning, with greenery and ocean views that make it feel very peaceful and close to nature. The whole place has a calm, eco-friendly vibe that fits well with the natural beauty of the area.
One of the things we really appreciated was the location. It's right in the heart of Apollo Bay, so you can easily walk to nearby restaurants, cafes, and the beach. There’s also plenty to do in the area — walking trails, shops, and local attractions are all nearby, which made it easy to explore without needing to drive anywhere.
There are two shared kitchens that are fully equipped, which was super convenient for preparing meals. The hostel also has two living areas, a study room, and an indoor games room that includes pool, table soccer, Monopoly, and more — great for relaxing after a day of exploring.
Overall, it’s a great budget-friendly place to stay with everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable night. We’d definitely stay again if we’re passing through Apollo Bay!
