Just came back from my stay at YHA Boggle Hole Hostel — what an amazing place! The location is simply stunning, hidden away in a little cove, far from roads and crowds. It’s so peaceful and quiet, the perfect spot to unwind. The staff were fantastic — really friendly and helpful. I ordered some food and enjoyed it by the fireplace, which made for such a cosy evening. The room was good and comfortable (for that price - perfect) just the walls were a bit thin, so I could hear people walking to and from the toilet. Other than that, everything was lovely. I’d definitely come back again!

We walked from Robin Hood bay to the hostel on the Cleveland way and dropped in for coffee and cake. Service was super lovely and friendly and the cafe/bar so cozy! Coffee was very good and the cake excellent. We managed to walk back via the beach - just missing the tide but wading through a foot or 2 of water, which delighted our dog as it meant he was off lead for longer! A lovely find.

We stopped for a drink here and it was wonderful. The staff were great and helpful. The location was fabulous. It's right on the beach, when the tide is out you could walk for miles. All in all a great little rest stop.

2mile narrow lane to get there. Didn't stay ,it's nestled in a small cove shot walk to RHB via up over the path through the woods or when tides out around the headland lovely cove, amenities are there toilets, meals etc well worth the steep walk down from the (free) carpark. ....go again

I wish I could give this place six stars. The location is remote and you must walk downhill from the car park for about ten minutes but it is worth every step. You can see how it was once a pirates hide away. When we were there there were several school groups but the staff explained how to avoid the group meal times and they all behaved well. It is so tranquil I recommend an evening walk along the beach if the tide is out. The food was good and not expensive. The staff are friendly and helpful. Boggle Hole YHA like many others attracts a very friendly adventurous interesting kind of person. So if you like this genre. Don't hesitate. Go!

The location of this hostel is near perfect which is maybe how they justify the prices. We managed to book the room when it was on offer for £30 for the night. This felt like an appropriate price given the room. But on some nights our room is listed as costing £150! Given what the rooms offer this is a scandalous price. We were put in the "crows nest" which is a purpose built ugly building outside the main building and up a pretty steep flight of stairs. This was a little frustrating given we told the hostel in our booking we had a baby with us. Our room had no toilet paper (we could have gone back to reception but that would have been a 5 mins round trip so we just used the communal toilet). Our room also had no shower gel, very limited space, plastic mattresses and poor lighting. Also, when you showered it soaked the entire bathroom floor and as no floor towel was provided this meant the main room also got a little wet. The rooms are functional but no more. For £30 this was all fine, but Omg if the price had been £150 per night and that's what I got, I would be absolutely furious.

We stopped off at the cafe after a long walk along the beach. They serve food, ice creams, and have a bar. You can access it from the beach when the tide is out. The place is very rustic and has so much character. Dogs are allowed if on a lead. I will definitely be visiting again.

Such a lovely hidden gem! We walked from Robin hoods bay and stumbled across the cafe here. Great food and lovely cakes. Excellent coffee and a nice spot for a cheeky pint too. Will be a regular spot on our RHB visits!

Yelp
A hostel of considerable charm and character, in a delightful coastal setting in the North York Moors National Park. A mill, and annexe, in a steep ravine running down to the sea, close to Robin Hood's Bay The Youth Hostel (YHA) at Boggle Hole nestles in a ravine with a dramatic entrance from the beach from which Robin Hoods Bay can be seen in the distance. This youth hostel is in a quiet setting on a secluded bay a 20-minute walk along the beach from Robin Hoods Bay. It consists of two buildings and features a kitchen and a quiet lounge. Most dorms have four beds but there are a couple of larger rooms. A former corn millwith the beach on the doorstep. Once refuge for shipwrecked mariners. Has great charm. Group accommodation, study rooms, ideal for family holidays. Adult: £11.95 Under 18: £8.95 It's clean, it's a friendly atmosphere like all rural YHA's seem to have, and a location that's well worth the walk. 3 star Hostel rating. Accommodation is in 2-6+ bedded rooms and facilities include TV, kitchen and evening meals. Food is prepared using fresh, seasonal ingredients, sourced locally where available, prepared and cooked to order. Flexible meal times to fit in with your itinerary and with prior notice, they are happy to cater for any special dietary requests. The bay in front of YHA Boggle Hole was once a notorious smugglers haunt. Nowadays all ages love beachcombing, searching for fossils and rockpool life on its shore.

Yelp
A lovely welcoming hostel with friendly staff. Has the YHA three star rating, but it is nicer than others I have stayed in with higher ratings. Set in a secluded bay, it is reached by a short walk along the beach or the cliff-top path. The bay is a fabulous place for children to play, although young children should probably be under supervision. Accommodation is either in the main building or in a separate building up some steep steps. The rooms were nice and comfortable, the showers and toilet facilities were kept clean and tidy. You can either cater for yourself in the self-catering kitchen, whichis stocked with a wide array of pots and pans, crockery and cutlery, or you can eat the delicious meals prepared by the hostel's kitchen staff and eat in the friendly communal dining room. The food is good and not too pricey at all. There's a lot to do in the area. The nearby Robin Hood's bay is famous as the site of smuggling and its narrow cobbled streets are enchanting when not packed with tourists. Or you could hire a bike from the hostel and head off on the coastal cycle route to Whitby or Scarborough.
