Lovely cafe Plenty to choose from food and drink Clean Dog friendly Can be difficult to access, check tide times if accessing through beach. Access also from Robins bay along Cleveland Way(lots of steps) And I believe you can drive there and car park at top with a steep incline down to cafe. Location is lovely but access is the problem

Secluded hostel in an old smugglers cove on the North Yorkshire coast. |This place has lots of atmosphere, it's nestled in woodland at the end of a small lane and you can walk out of the door onto the beach. The Cleveland Way coastal path passes through the property, walk for miles along the cliffs with amazing sea views. If you arrive by car (and the only alternative is to walk) you have to negotiate some steep, narrow lanes. The parking is away from the hostel, so you have to carry your stuff down the lane. |The staff were friendly and helpful. There's a cafe open during the day. |The private rooms are overpriced in my opinion. |Rather off putting were the "alphabet rights" multicoloured flags. Not sure what this has to do with YHA, or hospitality towards paying guests. Are staff allowed to use the property to promote whatever political agenda they like? This hostel is used by school groups so it's inappropriate to say the least.

I wish I could give this place six stars. The location is remote and you must walk downhill from the car park for about ten minutes but it is worth every step. You can see how it was once a pirates hide away. When we were there there were several school groups but the staff explained how to avoid the group meal times and they all behaved well. It is so tranquil I recommend an evening walk along the beach if the tide is out. The food was good and not expensive. The staff are friendly and helpful. Boggle Hole YHA like many others attracts a very friendly adventurous interesting kind of person. So if you like this genre. Don't hesitate. Go!

We stopped off at the cafe after a long walk along the beach. They serve food, ice creams, and have a bar. You can access it from the beach when the tide is out. The place is very rustic and has so much character. Dogs are allowed if on a lead. I will definitely be visiting again.

Such a lovely hidden gem! We walked from Robin hoods bay and stumbled across the cafe here. Great food and lovely cakes. Excellent coffee and a nice spot for a cheeky pint too. Will be a regular spot on our RHB visits!

This is a hidden gem in the area with very practical rooms, the location is amazing and the food is good enough with lots of kid friendly options. We had a lot of fun using the litter collection kits and working on communal puzzles in the main area. If you're staying there there's a full kitchen so you can self cater. WiFi is excellent and free. When the tide is out there's a lot to explore and crabs a plenty for the kids to find. Good value .

A great bolthole set just of the beach about 1/2 mile from Robin hoods bay. There is a good sized seating area inside and outside too. Th main issue we had was being served. The queue was blocking the entrance and the serving hatch, making for a bit of a jam. Orders were taken, and passed to someone else to assemble. It all appeared a little chaotic and took some time. The cakes and beer were nice though. The beach and Boggles hole are right there and it was great to walk out onto

A perfect location! Wonderful staff who will go out of their way for you, and who really care about the place. Exceptionally clean rooms with lovely touches throughout. I only wish my kids were little again because we'd be there every holiday!

Yelp
A hostel of considerable charm and character, in a delightful coastal setting in the North York Moors National Park. A mill, and annexe, in a steep ravine running down to the sea, close to Robin Hood's Bay The Youth Hostel (YHA) at Boggle Hole nestles in a ravine with a dramatic entrance from the beach from which Robin Hoods Bay can be seen in the distance. This youth hostel is in a quiet setting on a secluded bay a 20-minute walk along the beach from Robin Hoods Bay. It consists of two buildings and features a kitchen and a quiet lounge. Most dorms have four beds but there are a couple of larger rooms. A former corn millwith the beach on the doorstep. Once refuge for shipwrecked mariners. Has great charm. Group accommodation, study rooms, ideal for family holidays. Adult: £11.95 Under 18: £8.95 It's clean, it's a friendly atmosphere like all rural YHA's seem to have, and a location that's well worth the walk. 3 star Hostel rating. Accommodation is in 2-6+ bedded rooms and facilities include TV, kitchen and evening meals. Food is prepared using fresh, seasonal ingredients, sourced locally where available, prepared and cooked to order. Flexible meal times to fit in with your itinerary and with prior notice, they are happy to cater for any special dietary requests. The bay in front of YHA Boggle Hole was once a notorious smugglers haunt. Nowadays all ages love beachcombing, searching for fossils and rockpool life on its shore.

Yelp
A lovely welcoming hostel with friendly staff. Has the YHA three star rating, but it is nicer than others I have stayed in with higher ratings. Set in a secluded bay, it is reached by a short walk along the beach or the cliff-top path. The bay is a fabulous place for children to play, although young children should probably be under supervision. Accommodation is either in the main building or in a separate building up some steep steps. The rooms were nice and comfortable, the showers and toilet facilities were kept clean and tidy. You can either cater for yourself in the self-catering kitchen, whichis stocked with a wide array of pots and pans, crockery and cutlery, or you can eat the delicious meals prepared by the hostel's kitchen staff and eat in the friendly communal dining room. The food is good and not too pricey at all. There's a lot to do in the area. The nearby Robin Hood's bay is famous as the site of smuggling and its narrow cobbled streets are enchanting when not packed with tourists. Or you could hire a bike from the hostel and head off on the coastal cycle route to Whitby or Scarborough.
