This was my first stay in a YHA for about 20 years and they have definitely changed. At the last minute I booked a private room at YHA Cambridge and the experience exceeded my expectations, it felt clean and safe. The welcome from Jack was excellent and he was very helpful. The room, toilets and showers were very clean. The breakfast in the morning was cooked to order and you could have as much or as little as you liked. |The hostel WIFI was excellent, better than most hotels I have stayed in!

Went for breakfast, the lady explained us everything very nicely and advised us that there were about 20 min left to order so we did. Ordered 2 full English breakfasts with a weird paper grid system each, with multiple items on each one. When the food came, quantity was wrong, and then got the explanation on how the ordering works. Had to ask twice more for a bit of extra food. And despite telling us that it was coked freshly to order, I saw the guy taking the hot items from a hot station and dropping them on the plate. Definitely not going back

Great location! Staff were so friendly and welcoming. Rooms are exactly what you expect from a hostel, for the price it can't be beat. The shared toilets and showers were kept clean and well maintained. The cooked breakfast was delicious and very well priced (certainly better and cheaper than the breakfast I had paid for the day before at a well known chain in London). My only regret is not asking for another veggie sausage and hash brown!

Great location and wonderful downstairs space. The kitchen is very small, so adjust your expectations - definitely best for people planning to eat out. Rooms were clean and staff were charming. All within a stones throw of the station and a short walk to the centre. Will definitely be back.

Very clean amenities and in close proximity to the train station. Breakfast can be purchased at a reasonable price and there is also a kitchen available if you want to make your own food. As for drawbacks, I’d say the bunk beds (especially the upper bunk) tend to creak a fair bit, and there was no water for several hours in the morning, making it very inconvenient to go to the bathroom or wash up. The bedside lamps are also too bright. Perhaps dim yellow ones would be better. All being said, it was still a nice stay.

I have always stayed in the hostel whenever I'm working, the service and accommodation has always been good, but tonight is so bad. The staff was so rude and inconsiderate. The room he gave me was so cold and the heating was not on. I don't know if its because it's faulty or not, but it's so cold. I tried talking to the staff but he was so rude to me. I even told him I don't mind if he gives me a top bunk bed in another room, that I can manage but he refused. I can't even sleep or stay in the room.

A satisfactory stay in this hotel. About 20 mins walking distance to city areas and bus services/duration were not worth waiting for. Location of hotel is ok for the amount paid, but cleanliness was not very good. Many of the cups were left with yellow stains when you are preparing for breakfast. Water pressure was not as strong in shower room and drain scupper was partly clogged and not rectified even after raising same to the reception. Good full kitchen facilities were provided. An open-roof toiler was noted on the ground floor, wondering how to use with ease in emergency.

Firstly, the room was falling to pieces with the wallpaper falling off, bedsheets with stains on. As well as their were even more problems with the room such as the window was not able to close fully and the loft was unlocked and able to gain access to it leading to dust to fall on to the top bunk bed within the room as the loft had led to a large hole leading to something in complete darkness. Finally, the carpet was completely dirty with stains and smelt terrible. As my room did not include a TV which other rooms did have and it seemed boring and plain to stay in. As their was no bathroom within the rooms. As for the bathrooms they had smelled badly with the toilet was blocked throughout my stay.
