We really enjoyed our stay in YHA Cape Byron, and it was one of the more reasonably priced hostels we stayed at in Aus. The location is excellent, literally a 3 minute walk from the beach and all the local shops and restaurants. We enjoyed the trivia night we attended at the hostel, although it did start earlier than it was supposed to so we missed a bit of it. We stayed in a private room, which was very clean and spacious. It could do with an update and more storage, such as bedside tables and more plug sockets, but it was absolutely fine for a few days. The bathrooms were modern and clean, and the showers were lovely and warm. The kitchen was very spacious and didn’t get too busy when we stayed. We found the staff very friendly and they let us store luggage on our checkout day. The hostel is social and we enjoyed chatting to people. The common room also has games which is a nice touch. I would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone visiting Byron for a few days!

Meant to stay for 3 nights and ended up staying for 9 nights due to cyclone alfred and had the best stay. Nikita and Santiago were amazing, calm, cool, and collected during the entire storm. Communication was stellar through the entire thing. Thankfully, the storm passed with little impact, and everyone was able to enjoy their stay. Thanks to Will for putting on amazing events and to all the other staff that were lovely during my stay. If I ever need to hunker down during a cyclone again, I will be staying at YHA 🤞. Kitchen is well equipped and spacious. Pool is great, the guests are amazing. 11/10

We had a great stay at YHA Cape Byron! The location is absolutely perfect—right in the center and close to everything. The atmosphere was also a highlight; despite the impact of Cyclone Alfred, the vibe remained lively. Every evening, the common area was full of people hanging out before heading to bars like the Piano Bar. Unfortunately, because of the cyclone, there were no activities, which is understandable. However, one downside was the lack of staff presence. Even after the worst of the storm had passed and it was safe to move around, the reception was almost never staffed for several days. I often had to look for staff around the hostel to ask for things. The biggest issue was housekeeping—our trash bin wasn’t emptied for a whole week, and no cleaning was done at all, leading to quite a mess. That being said, the overall experience was still very solid. If housekeeping and staff presence improve, it would be an easy 5-star stay. Would still recommend it for the great location and atmosphere!

The management is a mess. They keep charging my debit card for expenses under someone else's name without authorization. I’ve called, emailed, and the issue still hasn’t been resolved. Be very careful when booking online with these people — they’ve wasted a lot of my time and I really hope they refund my money.

Great hostel! We've stayed here for 4 nights. The kitchen is big and very clean! Best kitchen I've seen in a hostel. The air conditioning is working properly and they have a swimming pool. The bathroom is very modern, and the showers are great. Last but not least, the staff is very kindly!

We stayed in a private room and oh my goodness, this bed has been the best bed in a long time traveling 😍 The showers were awesome too, as well as the big kitchen with many cooking stations. Location is great; close to the main beach, next to a great breakfast spot and around the corner of all the shops. All in all would definitely recommend staying here :)

Booked a weekend here back in November 2024. Upon arrival - was told my private room was not a private and in fact in the dorm. I also called up a few days prior to ask about the room as I booked the 3 nights over 2 bookings and wanted to ensure it was the same room - and got told it was all good. I understand that your systems in place may have an issue in incorrect record keeping or booking system. But it's quite disappointing to have to deal with this upon arrival, and to have the prospect of booking something in Byron last minute when the area gets booked out, leaving very expensive and very limited availability. Both YHA and Agoda are big companies, so please sort it out to save the stress and difficulty for the next traveler that comes across this. Given 3 stars as YHA did try their best to accommodate the booking, and it allowed me a bit of time to book something else for the following day after arrival

Excellent location, it’s only a 2 minute walk to the beach. The kitchen is super spacious and has great appliances, the restrooms were also high quality and regularly cleaned. The staff were also friendly and massively helpful in getting us a last minute transfer to the airport.
