Good stay at this YHA. Great location, about a ten minute walk from Coniston and not far to the lake. Set back in lovely woodland, nice, peaceful location. |I was able to park up early and enjoy my time in Coniston before check in. |I stayed in a private room which was very clean and although not en-suite, plenty of clean toilets and showers nearby. |The staff here are lovely and very helpful. Great cafe facilities and options for meals. Good kitchen and social areas too.

It's a shame the secluded woodland garden area is now being used for ugly glamping pods and campers are relegated to the lawn by the car park. This was handy for getting things from the car but it meant we got all the noise of people coming and going until late in the evening. There was also some bright lights from the hostel shining on the tents. That said, this hostel is a gem, on the edge of the village and about fifteen minutes walk to the shops. It's grounds are very beautiful with some huge trees. The facilities are all clean and well kept. Staff and other visitors were very pleasant to meet. The self catering kitchen is well equipped and the lounge is comfortable with big sofas. I hope the YHA never changes from its high standards. I just wish we could camp round the back! But thank you for a good stay.

YHA Coniston Holly How is a lovely little hostel, perfectly placed for exploring the Coppermines Valley and Coniston Fells, or for activities on Coniston Water.|The staff were friendly and welcoming and the communal areas were clean and comfortable, with plenty of sockets/USB ports for charging devices.|The Drying Room was excellent (a blessing when camping).|The camping area at the front of the hostel was relatively small, but the pitches were nice and level and there were some very handy picnic benches. Ear plugs are advised if camping as some of the hostel guests can be very noisy around the car park area (and the owls are pretty loud in the small hours of the night). An eye mask is also recommended as there are bright security lights that shine onto the camping area.|Nonetheless, it's definitely a hostel that we will visit again. The mole that decided to pop up several molehills under our tent was an unwelcome camping "first", but we can't really hold the YHA responsible for the local wildlife!

Warm welcome on arrival. Kitchen not as well equipped as others I have stayed at but it was okay. room clean . Varied menu looked good too but I chose to eat my own food so I can't comment on this although quite a few people did eat in. Well worth the money in today's economic climate.

I didn't expect much for the room since it seems the price was reasonable. Overall, I am satisfied with our stay. The staff are friendly and approachable. The place seems to be an old and laid-back place. A short distance walk to the coniston vilage center!

This campsite was very disappointing and expensive. We camped here for one night during our Cumbrian Way walk. The hostel staff were very friendly and helpful. The bathroom, self catering kitchen and lounge are all well equipped and comfortable. However, the ‘campsite’ to pitch your tent is simply the front lawn. There is barely space for 5 tents without being very close to one another. The lawn is between the building entrance and car park, and people were coming back from the pub to the hostel until very late at night, and walking very close to the tents. It is loud and uncomfortable being so close to the parking and driveway. One night for two adults / one tent cost us an outrageous £40.

Yha Holly How is a lovely old converted building, a very short walk from Coniston village and the lake.||The hostel is clean and well maintained. Staff are friendly and the food and self cooking facilities good. The hostel has 2 lounges, dining roomand lovely outdoor balcony seating area. ||Camping at Yha hostels is always great because they are in fairly rural locations, with stunning views close by. And, you have all the facilities of a hostel (to charge your phone, cook, relax in the lounges). All for about £12 per night / £20if you book the all you caneat breakfast. For me ( with my little boy) it was £30 per night with bfast. Evening meals at the hostel cost about £10 less than the local pub. ||Tent camping is on the small lawn in front of the building, by the car park. Not the best views from the tent but quick n easy to unpack and repack your car.||Views around Coniston are amazing. There is a coop, other shops and pubs along with childrens play park close by. There is a bus stop very near but buse services are limited.
