YHA Coniston Holly How

I recently stayed at YHA Coniston, Holly How for one night. I had originally planned to stay for two nights, but unfortunately couldn’t make it work. Even so, my short stay there was truly wonderful! The atmosphere was so warm and welcoming, everyone at the hostel, from guests to staff, made me feel completely at home. The staff members were especially kind and friendly, always ready to help with a smile. One lady ( with red/ golden hair) , in particular, was incredibly helpful when I missed my bus. She went out of her way to assist me in finding and booking another hostel. Without her help, I would have been in real trouble! I’m deeply grateful for her kindness and support! ❤️ Overall, it was a super experience — cozy, friendly, and memorable. I would definitely love to come back and stay at this hostel again in the future. I’d give it a solid 10 out of 10! 🤗💌

It's a shame the secluded woodland garden area is now being used for ugly glamping pods and campers are relegated to the lawn by the car park. This was handy for getting things from the car but it meant we got all the noise of people coming and going until late in the evening. There was also some bright lights from the hostel shining on the tents. That said, this hostel is a gem, on the edge of the village and about fifteen minutes walk to the shops. It's grounds are very beautiful with some huge trees. The facilities are all clean and well kept. Staff and other visitors were very pleasant to meet. The self catering kitchen is well equipped and the lounge is comfortable with big sofas. I hope the YHA never changes from its high standards. I just wish we could camp round the back! But thank you for a good stay.

Lovely clean and cosy hostel in Coniston! We booked 3 private rooms for a group trip and it was a great stay. Kitchen was well-stocked although we'd request extra dry tea towels in the kitchen area for drying dishes. The staff members were super friendly for check in from 5pm but there are no staff around before then so I wouldn't recommend arriving any earlier.

We had a lovely stay at YHA Coniston. We had a private room (for 4 people) for one night and had an absolute blast. It was clean, cosy and what you would expect from a YHA. ||When visiting the lakes, we typically opt for more remote YHAs - but, we are glad we spiced it up a bit and came here,, with a small walk to the quaint hustle and bustle of Coniston with the lovely pubs and restaurants. ||We had fun and are all so glad that we have the YHA.

I arrived at the property around 8pm with a reservation made via Booking.com, only to realise at check-in that I had accidentally booked the wrong date (two weeks later). I immediately explained the situation and asked whether the reservation could be moved to the correct date, which would have meant bringing it forward rather than cancelling it. Unfortunately, the reception staff showed no flexibility at all and, more importantly, no empathy. Given how frustrating the situation was, a more understanding approach would have gone a long way. I was then charged for the whole room instead of the bed (which they seem to often do according to other reviews). I was also told that it was not possible to change the name on the reservation, meaning I couldn’t even transfer the booking to someone else. Since I will be abroad on the booked dates, the reservation is effectively unusable and a complete waste. As for the property itself, it was fairly clean but felt tired and outdated, and did not really compensate for the poor customer service experience. Overall, I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

Great location, so close to the mountains, very peaceful. Lovely atmosphere. Rooms were clean and had a charging points. Having dry room was super handy. Amazing value for the money spent. It was just fantastic experience as always with YHA. Highly recommended !!!

Good stay at this YHA. Great location, about a ten minute walk from Coniston and not far to the lake. Set back in lovely woodland, nice, peaceful location. |I was able to park up early and enjoy my time in Coniston before check in. |I stayed in a private room which was very clean and although not en-suite, plenty of clean toilets and showers nearby. |The staff here are lovely and very helpful. Great cafe facilities and options for meals. Good kitchen and social areas too.

absolutely s dirty untidy place would even go as far to say diseased hell hole i would beg you not to go i found poo on the shower wall and weeks later still feel sick from the discusting stay . The staff were very rude and treated me like a child. the place is also very expensive no heating no hot water and hygiene was bad not only did i find poo in the shower i found meat under my bed dust evrywhere and hairs all over
