Had a great 4 day stay here. Nice facilities, friendly staff, and a solid location only a 10 minute walk to the beach. 10/10 playlist on in the background throughout the week. Chill & laid back vibes. Thanks staff for the great stay :)

Hi, good afternoon. I saw your hotel and I loved it. I would be very interested in working with you in exchange for a room or a place to stay for a period of time. Could you please let me know which email I should contact and how I can apply for the volunteer position? Thank you very much.🤗

I’ve absolutely loved staying at this hostel. Close to everything and great public transport nearby. Very chilled vibe, different outdoor spaces and a decent sized kitchen to cook in. The staff are super friendly and helpful, there is a social BBQ every Friday evening.

I arrived around 11 p.m., and when I went to the bed that was assigned to me, one of the girls in the room told me that it hadn’t been cleaned. Indeed, the bed was messy and clearly not prepared. I contacted the accommodation immediately but received no response. Since I had to leave at 4 a.m. the next morning, I had no choice but to sleep as it was. It’s really disappointing to think that I paid for this kind of experience. I finally received a message through Booking.com, where the property said they would refund me. However, when Booking.com submitted the refund request to the property, it was declined. Since then, they haven’t replied at all. I have many insect or tick bites on my left leg because I sleep facing left That's why l'm requesting a refund as well. I truly expected a more professional response from them.

Perfectly functional hostel, consistent with the price you pay. Rooms are basic but fit for purpose and the bathrooms are pretty nice. Communal areas were good (inc. pool and kitchen areas etc). We didn’t fully appreciate how far out of Coolangatta the hostel was and that it is situated between a main highway and the airport car park - not a criticism as this might be useful for some, but worth noting. Buses to town were not as easy as suggested elsewhere. We were booked to stay for two nights, as part of a wider trip, where we had stayed at lots of hostels down the east coast. Staff service was good and we had no issues with check in. We had booked a mixed dorm. Unfortunately, it became clear that despite the name, no other occupant in our room would be classified as a ‘youth’ and in fact were clearly long term occupants of questionable character. The atmosphere was on edge and it was clear that there was friction between the occupants. Both my girlfriend and I felt very uncomfortable and were questioning whether or not to stay the night. It was when one ‘room mate’ started to act as though he was under the influence or something more than just alcohol (…) that we no longer felt safe (noting that this was 2pm in the afternoon and perhaps an indication of what was to follow). Frankly, we would not have felt safe staying in this room overnight and clearly there have been issues between the other occupants. At our own cost, we checked out and found alternate accommodation. Overall, the hostel itself presents well and the staff were good. Had we stayed in a different room, our experience may have been different, but clearly the ‘Youth Hostel’ has opened up to longer term occupants who are looking for cheap accommodation (and in this case to take drugs, day drink and walk around the room muttering to themselves). I would not have felt safe staying in that room myself and would not recommend that anyone else does either - a safe environment should be a given when staying at a YHA property, not a possibility. Stricter screening should be undertaken to prevent others from being put in these situations. Disappointing experience and a poor reflection of a reputable brand.

Wonderful experience, especially due to the service provided by Sarah, who put me in a single room when Booking's reservation for a shared dorm hadn't gotten through to the hostel's system. The next day, in addition, she even took the time to help me change a tyre (Or rather, I was helping her). Beyond that, sure, you'll hear the airplanes fly over, but that's because of the excellent location between the airport and the beach. Great place to spend some time after flying into Gold Coast.

First the good parts: common areas were nice (sofas, billiardtable etc.), the kitchen was big, many facilities, also this older woman employee was super nice to us Then the downfall: when we arrived there, the staff didn’t tell us anything about the hostel (where is the kitchen or the bathrooms etc) or the area around, our hostel room was dirty, the floor and the fan were in dust, our lockers were also dirty and still had other people’s stuff, we also found bedbug or cockroach marks from my friend’s locker, one day they shut all the toilets at the same time for like an hour to clean them, usually the kitchen was also dirty: people didn’t clean their pots or pans (they were left dirty in the evening and were found at the same spot dirty in the morning) staff just ignored that usually, also they didn’t tell us anything about the yha app, would recommend just for a one night if even that

I had a very comfortable stay in the 6-bed female dorm for one night. The other guests were all friendly and respectful. The bed had just the right firmness, and the blanket was cozy—I slept really well that night. The staff were kind and responsive. Although the charging cable inside the locker was broken, they fixed it right away after I reported it. The only downside was that the previous guest seemed to have left some trash behind, and the housekeeping might have missed it, but I cleaned it up myself. The location isn’t the most convenient for me in terms of transportation, since I wasn’t flying anywhere, but it’s a beautiful and quiet place. I really enjoyed walking by the sea and taking in the peaceful scenery—it was very relaxing. Overall, I had a great two-day, one-night stay and got plenty of rest. I’d love to come back again if I have the chance. 🏝️
