⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Grasmere Youth Hostel|I camped in my tent in the garden at Grasmere Youth Hostel and it was brilliant. The price was very reasonable, and it’s such a good option if you want the freedom of camping but still have all the facilities of the hostel close by.|After a big adventure in the hills, it was the perfect place to arrive – friendly, welcoming, and relaxed. The staff made me feel right at home. Breakfast in the morning was lovely and set me up well for another day of walking.|The location is fantastic too, right in the heart of the Lakes and with Grasmere village just a short stroll away. For anyone looking for a budget-friendly, comfortable and welcoming base, this hostel is spot on.

I camped here for two nights and very quickly felt relaxed, safe and comfortable here. I met people of all ages and backgrounds, it felt like a very natural space to come and go from. Thanks to the team there, especially the staff working over night who I interacted with to help with a few things like booking taxis etc. Fantastic location too. Thank you.

This is typical YHA grand building with enthusiastic helpful staff. Lady checking us in really helpful as we were hiked in and wanted a rest day so we could also see Grasmere. She made an effort to juggle stuff so we could. Pizza were really nice. Place clean and tidy. Tom checking on guests very pleasant. YHA does have camping but only limited to 5 pitches. Walking tents could get more, so not sure on how much discretion. Overall lovely stay.

Room is VERY smelly. Smells of sweat and damp. To be fair I didn’t really mind as it’s a youth hostel but the shower!??? It’s awful. Dirty, no place to put clothes or towels (a very small hook is all they have). Water pressure is so bad water cannot come through the shower head so you need to hold it down to floor and you need to crawl with four foot animal 😂. If you want to take a shower like a human being, you must use the facilities at lunch time or midnight when no one is using. If anyone has no plans to go out after coming all the way to Lake District but stuck in the hostel, you would not face the same issue I faced so don’t worry. But really, who would? Also there was a cleaning lady/girl who played music really loudly with a BT Speaker and singing like karaoke whilst cleaning the room - thanks for the music and yes you sing very well 👌 but some guests want to rest and nap after climbing mountains from early morning. The location is really good but I would not stay again. Thanks.

We tented here 1 night while on our Coast to Coast Hike. This was a really interesting hostel. The building was really unique and had a great seating room. The tent sites were very clean and level. We ate dinner here. It was kind of basic, cheeseburger and fries. But it did the job after a long day of hiking. The host was very nice and kind, even though he was running the whole show by himself because his help called off sick. I would recommend staying here if you get the chance. Really nice place.

We arrived to Grasmere after a shortish hike from Ambleside and were let in slightly early which was nice. The location was very nice if a bit sheltered from any great views by the trees. Sadly, our room overlooked the car park rather than the forested areas and therefore was a bit sad in that department. The food was tasty and service was fast, the rooms were clean but annoyingly had chargers above the bed with no where to put your phone while it charges, however this correlates with most YHA. All in all, for a YHA it was very nice! Would recommend and probably will come again.

What's great: 1. Location - so many hiking options to choose from right from the doorstep and very close to the village centre (the entire village of Grasmere is very ideally located for hiking) 2. Clean facilities What's not so great: 1. There's no view from anywhere you stand in the hostel property 2. The grass in the camping area don't seem to be mowed regularly enough. In the morning, it gets extremely damp and the long grass made it worse. Campers have to vacate by 10am and because the camping area don't get any sun in the morning, we all have to pack very wet tent 3. Miniscule self catering kitchen. The size of it is a joke given the size of the hostel. 4. The common area is supposed to be dog friendly. YHA website states that the only area where dogs aren't allowed is kitchen. But I get shouted at when I walked past the dining room with my dog. How am I supposed to know when the website says otherwise and there are no sign showing that dogs aren't allowed in the dining room?! In other YHA, not only dogs are welcomed at the dining room, there're very obvious signs on the door for areas where dogs aren't allowed.

Great stay at YHA Grasmere. Check in was great, easy and friendly. The hostel is a good size, large sitting room and restaurant area and space to sit outside. The self service kitchen was very small but clean and adequate. ||Stayed for two nights in a two bed room. There were plenty of clean toilets and showers just outside our room. ||We ordered food, pizzas were large and yummy and priced well at £10.49. Served hot with friendly service. ||The hostel is only about 3 mins walk to the centre of the village of Grasmere. Plenty of cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops, including a co-op express open until 10pm. ||I would highly recommend this YHA.
