YHA Hobart Central

This is my second stay at this YHA. First time in the bunks and this time in a private. Great team at the YHA. Welcoming, friendly, helpful and interesting people. Special mention to Dean, your recommendations were fantastic. We are only sad that we couldn’t get into The Waterloo. The private room we booked was clean and warm. Had a tv, a fridge, wardrobe and a private ensuite… we weren’t expecting that. The building is well due for an upgrade, the kitchen is old, small, and rundown. There is an old outdoor area that’s not in use at the moment that I think could level up the communal feel of the hostel. However all of this is reflected in the price. Great value for a fantastic location. The location is the absolute draw card. A short walk to all PT, the harbour, Salamanca, the shopping arcades/Liverpool and Bathurst streets, supermarkets and delicious food. Update and upgrade or not, I will stay again.

A had a mixed review on this hostel during my stay. Bed was clean and cozy but the room itself was a bit outdated with some parts visibly stained and dirty. Heater was working okay. Toilets/showers can be accessible from either sides of hallways. No lifts so be wary if you have multiples suitcases with you. Not a 24/7 reception too.

We stayed in a dorm of six beds and it was very comfortable. There's plenty of space and light in the room and even a little balcony for us to enjoy. The bathrooms are top quality for a hostel, it's very rare to see that: every cabin is individual and has a shower unit, toilets and a sink with mirror. So you can have your intimacy it's great. Service is good too with friendly staff and fast to react. One bed in our room was very squeaky and they come quickly to fix it. The only downside is the kitchen, which really is too small for the amount of guests so you find yourself waiting all the time for stuff to be free to use. Overall excellent place to have a great and comfortable stay, but definitely not in the lowest budgets range.

Special thanks to Lixie and the other staff members they are truly amazing! They are super friendly and are always happy to have a small chat, truly made my stay great here! Overall pretty happy with my stay here.

I had a really nice stay at this YHA. Great value and amazing location. Super cute lounge, and comfy bed. Lixie at reception was very helpful, and I saw the staff often cleaning everything :)

Amazing time at this hostel! Thanks to all the staff and especially Lixy for being so kind! The 12 bed dorm is amazing. The room is big enough for the amount of people!

Location is amazing, rooms are very big, beds are so good and they all have a lot of plugs close and also lights in every bed up and down bunk. BUT the vaccum in the floor of the room is not very good because service is only cleaning the toilet and sink but they're not cleaning the hairs in the bathroom floors or the dirtyness in the rooms floors , besides that and that the KITCHEN IS RIDICULOUSLY SMALL for so many people, it's a very good hostel!

Good stay for a few nights! The room was great and very clean. The kitchen however was quite small and had only one furnace, so that could uses an upgrade! The location was also pretty good. Close to the city centre, so would definitely recommend for a few nights
