YHA Hobart Central

I recommend this hostel. The staff at reception were super kind and the check in process easy. The room itself was stuffy and could use a ceiling fan. The clock across the road dings each 15 minutes and every hour, and it goes all night. Make sure you have ear plugs! The bathrooms could use bath mats (or bamboo ones) and get flooded easily. There was also no bench space in bathrooms. The kitchen was extremely small and I found it hard to find what I needed. The common room was small and smelt musty, but there were heaps of books and games. For the price and location, I would stay here again.

Decent place for a one night stay, private room was comfortable and clean. Took twenty minutes before being able to check in as no one was at reception, but the receptionist was very helpful and friendly. Very dated building, quite a few taps in the bathrooms were leaking and the kitchen was tiny for such a large space. Common room on the first floor was small too, with a couple of sofas and a TV. I'd stay there again if I was in Hobart.

Had a late check-in, which worked perfectly. You had to make your bed by yourself The bathrooms were to less, 4 bathrooms for approx 36 people on the level The whole place could use a make-over. Overall, it was to expensive for 51$ for 1 night Had cheaper hostels with better service and building appearance.

I booked this place with high expectations based on my positive experience at the YHA Adelaide, but found it disappointing. First of all, there's no elevator, which makes it challenging for guests with heavy luggage to access their rooms, as the stairs are quite narrow. Additionally, the rooms lack air conditioning and fans, which can make them uncomfortable during warmer weather. The bathrooms have limited space for personal belongings, and there are no shower shelves to place shampoo/conditioner, etc. The common area is very small, basically consisting of a small table and a couple of chairs. This limited space makes it difficult to find a place to relax or rest outside of your own room. The kitchen is also quite small with only two microwaves available. While some staff members were helpful, others appeared less welcoming, potentially due to their work-exchange arrangement. Overall, while the accommodation may be suitable for some travelers, it did not meet my expectations, particularly considering the price. Next time I will choose a different accommodation option in Hobart

The place is old and really needs a renovation asap! The ventilation is horrible, it smelled so bad on the hallway on the third floor. The bathrooms are okay but need a renovation. Plus they were not cleaned daily which is the least you can expect when al lot of people use it! The kitchen is just a joke. It's really small and only hase one stove. The kitchen cabinets don't close properly and are peeling.

Always reluctant to slate a YHA but this place needs a refurb. The rooms and bathrooms are tired, the social spaces are poor, and given this, the value for money is not great. The staff however are absolutely lovely and we're extremely helpful.

A bit disappointing. The bathrooms were not very clean, and the communal kitchen was super small. However, the location is perfect.

The rooms are ok, but the kitchen and the lounge are too small, it is not convenient at all. There is no table to work/study on (outside the rooms).
