YHA Idwal Cottage

The staff were super friendly and able to recommend some great routes. Overall cosy cottage vibe with good facilities for a hostel, and is a great location for day hikers with a comparably priced car park in the day (free overnight). Seemed to be quite a few long distance hikers there too. ||Generally positive experience in a stunning setting rain or shine

Staff are very informative and helpful, room is clean and tidy, self catering kitchen had good facilities. BUT, room 10 is right above the kitchen so you get the smell from everybodys food cooking, and the inconsiderate people in there till 12:45 am chatting with the lights on that lights up the room. The constant hum at different levels of noise that never stopped, the constant noise of door's from 7pm to 1am restarting at 6am and the state the other guests left the toilets and showers. Sorry to say but if you get room 10 you'd get a better sleep in the bus stop at the end of the road.

Another amazing YHA stay. We had the cabin, really spacious and warm with the storage heater. Perfect location and plenty of walks directly from here. Friendly staff, clean all around, limited fridge space as I guess the hostel was busy during the school half-term. Parking is free from 5pm-10am; if parking during the day, there's a £6 charge, still worth it.

Beautiful, calm and peaceful YHA cottage for staying near Llyn Ogwen. Location can be accessed by car or public transport (T10 bus stop few mins walk away). Activities like walking the Cwm Idwal Loop can be done which starts adjacent to the cottage. There are also many mountains which can be hiked like Mt Tryfan. The rooms in the cottage are clean and well maintained. Only self catering is available in the YHA, and it boasts a large kitchen which is clean and well equipped. Historically this cottage belonged to Lord Penrhyn's Estate and was used as slate quarry manager's house.

This place is great to meet people, and the managers are super friendly. Its in the middle of no where, no shops nearby, so make sure you take enough food to cook in their good catering facilities. Stayed there for 5 sunny days, was a fantastic lazy break for me

Great central location for field work in the area. Kitchen facilities top notch and even when busy plenty of space. Hot water and friendly staff perfect

Great staff as always but the double room was super noisy with the water system running on and off through the night so couldn't sleep
