I enjoyed my stay here. The location is really great! There are free buses plying from the area to Piccadilly. The hostel is also close to the Museum of science and technology. It’s few minutes to both Manchester United Stadium and Manchester City stadium. The rooms are spacious, neat and clean. I stayed in a four bed female only room and it was amazing. Shower and toilet within the room. Just that the beds do not have privacy curtains. There’s a big kitchen and restaurant as well.

It was spacious in the room. It was raining heavily on New Year's Eve, but we could see a bit of the fireworks from the window in the room. Toilets are clean, but kitchen is very small. Good security system with the room cards, and a cage for your items below the bed.

I travelled 200 miles to stay the night here before an interview at UoM. The whole point of coming a day early was to get a good nights sleep and be relaxed on the day of the interview. However I could not do this because there were kids running around shouting and slamming doors right outside my room until 2am. Also a loud mouth woman coming home drunk to her room at about 3am bragging about keeping others awake. It’s a good place if you’re looking for fun and late nights, but if you want a good nights sleep, avoid at all costs. Staff are friendly.

Was the cheapest accommodation to stay for a gig and genuinely blew me away. Staff were great, good bar selection, post-midnight fries were a very welcome option, rooms/beds were good. Would 100% stay here again!

I stayed at this place for 2 nights in a dorm room for 4. Comfortable beds, enough space for storing luggage and clean ensuite bathroom/shower. The ladies at the reception were quite friendly and helpful. Overall a good stay. Highly recommend. Only thing I'd suggest is adding curtains to the beds for privacy.

As a solo traveler, YHA Manchester was a total game-changer! The location was perfect, right by the canal and a short walk to the city center. The shared dorm was surprisingly clean, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. Plus, the common areas were great for meeting fellow travelers. It was the perfect base to explore Manchester and have a blast!

I stayed a couple of nights for the green party conference a mile up the road and, as a big fan of the YHA, wasn't disappointed. It was one of the more expensive stays I've enjoyed in their hostels, but it's central Manchester (pretty much) and was competitive. It's very modern, clean, and an easy walk into town

Clean and quite, I booked a dorm room for myself and a mate, and we where pleasantly surprised we were only sharing with two other people, and we had our own shower/toilet between the four of us. There was an issue with the shower being stuck on hot, which between reporting and fixing was done in 30 minutes. Staff were great.

Yelp
Spotless room, great staff, lovely food. Close to the free bus which will take you to the centre

Yelp
Having stayed in countless youth hostels around the world, I thought it was only right to check out the YHA's hostel in my own city. Disclaimer: I'm not from Manchester, but I would now consider it to be 'my city'. Anyway, out of sheer curiosity I decided to have a wander around this hostel. I would've stayed in it, had it not have cost £25 for a dorm bed per night. You can get beds for cheaper if you book in advance. Like the majority of Europe's YHAs, this hostel is clean with all of the facilities you would expect including café, kitchen, internet and laundry room. However, it is not as clinical as the German YHAs, which are actually very similar to hospitals! This hostel is situated right on the canal and within a 5 minute walk of the Museum of Science and Industry. It'll probably take you about 20 minutes to walk to the city centre (Piccadilly Gardens), but a taxi may be preferable if it's dark and you are unfamiliar with the city or have a lot of bags. It's also really near to a tram stop which will take you into town or out towards Salford Quays (War Museum, Old Trafford etc). This seems like a really good option, and personally I would rather stay here than in one of the Northern Quarter's hostels which are on busy streets very close to the city centre.

Yelp
A very good hostel with very comfortable beds that was very clean. It is in a good location in the Potato Wharf section of Manchester(about a 15 minute walk to downtown)-there are plenty of bars and some restaurants within a 5-7 minute walking distance. Customer service at the front desk was good, there was a bathroom/shower and a locker in my room. Also, there is a bar downstairs, breakfast for purchase and a small kitchen. Minor negatives are the free wi-fi was available only downstairs in the main area and not upstairs in the room (as I recall) and the hostel did not have a lot of social activities. Overall, a very good place to stay that I would recommend if you visit this city.

Yelp
I was here for one midweek night in April. This was the one place on my UK holiday that I was asked whether I wanted to be charged in dollars or pounds. Go for the pounds, yanks! It's cheaper by a couple of dollars per day. I arrived around 3 and checked out my 4-person dorm. They give you a wristband like you get at clubs to "mark" your bed. At 3 I had my pick which was nice. The room had good-sized lockers and a nice view of the canals. Also at 3 they had a nice collection of biscuits (or what I'd call cookies) and tea/coffee out in the hallway. I really enjoyed the setting, near the Museum Of Science & Industry, the Roman foundations of the city, and some good restaurants. The city centre is only about 15 minutes' walk away too. This may be indicative of a weeknight stay, but I returned to my room at 9:30 to find a dormmate. The remaining ones arrived by 11 or so, and lights were out by then. I was the first awake at 7 - everyone was nice and respectful of quiet times and such. I needed to get out so I didn't opt for breakfast but it looked decent from a distance. A solid night in a solid place, or "value for money" as I often read in British reviews.

Yelp
Reasonably central (extremely handy for Deansgate station), comfy beds and generally in a quiet area (unless you're at the railway side) so easy to get a good night's sleep.
