Mei Ho House was the first public housing-building in Hong Kong, located in Sham Shui Po. It's not the nicest area, but with all the stories I heard about other Hong Kong hostels I can say it's an extremely nice hostel, which absolutely makes up for the location. Besides, the walk from the subway to the hostel isn't scary as long as it's not in the middle of the night, so that's all fine.
The hostel itself is the biggest one I've seen in my life; it's seriously HUGE and so are the rooms. I did miss this 'hostel feeling' (all the lonely travelers hanging out together in the common room) as the common room was a restaurant that's also open for other visitors. Talking about that restaurant: it's so cozy! And the breakfast (which is included in your stay) consists of three options: Western style, Chinese style and Hong Kong style. That's just something I only can like.
Another thing to like (a lot) about Mei Ho House is the fact that they have their own little post office ánd personal stamp. Oh, I'm sorry for being such a big mail fan :)
