YHA Snowdon Pen-y-Pass

We arrived at Snowdon Pen-Y-Pass around 9:45 p.m after Hiking the Ranger Path just in time for check-in. No parking on site & Dinner service was close. We collected our room keys and headed straight to Caernarfon town for dinner.|Unfortunately, Our room was filthy, and the toilet and bathroom clearly hadn't been cleaned. Since everything was closed by the time we arrived to checked in, we couldn't report the issue to the manager.|Note: Photo ID is a must for all guests (except children).|Having stayed in other YHA hostels, this one did not meet the standards in terms of cleanliness and parking support.|Thankfully, we found overnight parking space for £40, booking via JustPark was difficult due to poor internet connectivity on site, however we managed to get Wi-Fi at Pen-y-Pass Warden Centre.|The car park is wardened and has toilet facilities, but spaces are extremely limited. If full, drivers are advised to use the Park & Ride at Nant Peris (3 miles down the pass), though it's important to check the bus timetable in advance, last bus service is at 7 p.m.

Staff are super friendly and knowledgeable, excellent value for money and facilities are clean. Excellent base for Pyg and Miners paths, will definitely be back. Self cater cooking facilities, reasonably priced food and drinks. Decent options, even for vegans. Drying room for kit, pool table, board games and books. What more could you want.

It was a great place and perfect point to start trekking.Friendly staff, peaceful environment. Hygiene place and clean bed.Best place to stay.

Very good place and service. Amazing view. Definitely would stay here again. Parking is on a first come first serve basis but its very convenient especially for overnight stay. I guess my only criticism is that if you stay on the lower rooms then you can here foot steps upstairs especially if they are heavy footed but it did not ruin our experience, overall experience is really good and would definitely recommend.

The YHA hostel is fantastic, amazing staff and incredible location for starting a Snowdon walk. Biggest issue is the parking, no onsite parking and the car park opposite fills up before 8am if the weather is half decent. £40 a day prebooked parking required during the summer!

Well positioned youth hostel with comfy beds. Only issues was that there were 4 spoons in the self catered kitchen and only 1 light worked. Parking is a bit annoying as if you arrive before 6:30 you have to pay 2x £10

This was my first time staying in a Hostel, I was a bit worried but and I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms were basic but clean and comfortable. The food was lush and affordable and the staff were all so friendly. I would stay again in a heart beat and obviously the perfect base for hiking.

Please avoid this place. I had a very disappointing experience with them. I accidentally made a double booking through Booking.com and immediately contacted the property to explain the mistake. I called them several times before arriving, and they told me that I needed to contact Booking.com for the refund. They assured me that once Booking.com contacted them, they would confirm the refund. However, after my stay, Booking.com informed me that the payment had gone directly to the property and that only the property could authorize the refund. When I contacted the property again, they refused to refund the extra payment. I was passed back and forth between both parties, and in the end, I lost my money. This was very frustrating and unprofessional. There are many better and cheaper accommodation options available nearby in Snowdonia with much better service. I would strongly recommend choosing a different place to stay.
