I'm a school teacher working in Zürich Switzerland who came here with two classes in June 2025. I'll post here what some of our students had to say. As you can see, the main takehome is that whilst the building needs a little money spending on it, the team who work there offer the most extraordinary service. ||Cassian, 14|During my school's recent stay in Wales,|YHA Snowdon Ranger was our residence,|The walls were broken, the air was stale,|But Warren was the light - here is the evidence | |Whilst it was raining,|Warren was so very cheerful,|The hostel straining,|Yet the stay was purely blissful.||Finn, 14|Warren (and tony of course) are possibly the nicest people in Wales. Felt very welcomed and the food was exquisite. Although the rooms could need some new windows and possibly new beds, which arent made out of metal. In the first floor bathroom it could use a door so people in the hallway cant look in. Otherwise top hostel.||Alma, 14|Warren was a Great guy. He made is feel welcome from the second we stept into the Hostel. There was a beautiful lake 1min away from the Hostel. Overall the Hostel was nice but the Windows wouldnt properly Open so the air was a Bit stuffy.||Christian, 14||I had the pleasure of staying at a hostel next to a beautiful lake, and one of the highlights of my experience was meeting Warren. From the moment I arrived he was incredibly welcoming and made me feel right at home. His friendly and easygoing personality created such a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. Whether it was sharing stories, offering local tips, or simply being a kind presence, Warren truly added something special to my stay. You also can’t forget Kyran. While he was helping in the back most of the times whenever saw him he was very chatty in a good way. A Little touch up on the hostel wouldn’t harm though. Anyways, thanks Warren and Kyran for being such a great part of the experience!||Lucia, 14|Dear youth hostel Association|The place we stayed at was in an amazing place, beside the lake and the mountains. Sadly the windows could use some renovation seeing as I almost suffocated in my room with 5 other people. The people working there and especially Warren where very kind and friendly.||Elias, 14|Feedback Wales trip:||Warren:||- Absolute Legend||- Took great care of us||- Kept us motivated to keep on hiking||- served us great food||- very charismatic ||Kyran:||- great food||-awesome hair||- very pleasant to be around|||THE HOSTEL:||Pros:||- great location||- easy to navigate||- enough space||Cons / room for Improvement:||- Walls need renovation (room 6’s wall was tearing apart)||- Boy’s showers were cramped||- better windows needed||Max - 14|Dear Yha. I really enjoyed the week, even if their was bad wifi and the house could need some renovation, but thanks to Warren we felt welcome. He was our hero. He was always polite with us and did anything. The location is great too.||Timo - 14|Dear YHA during my stay Warren was extremely friendly to me and was always there to help when i needed it. The food was delicious and not repetitive.

I visited Snowdon Ranger YHA in mid July 2025 as the leader of a full board school trip to Snowdonia. We had sole use of the site for the duration of our stay and I couldn't recommend it more highly.||From the moment we arrived we received a warm welcome from Warren and his team. They were absolutely brilliant, friendly, helpful and always on hand to support us. Nothing was too much trouble and they went above and beyond to ensure our group had everything we needed.||The building and grounds were clean, well kept and perfect for a group of our size. The location is also fantastic, ideal for accessing the local trails and of course Snowdon itself.||The catering was lovely each day with good quality meals and a great range of options. Both vegetarian and meat choices were available and everything was freshly prepared and well thought out, perfect for keeping hungry teenagers happy.||Overall a fantastic experience and a credit to the YHA. Huge thanks again to Warren and the team for making our trip run so smoothly. We’ll definitely be back!

The hostel was in a beautiful situation, and it was lovely and warm, at a very cold time of the year. We appreciated the common areas which were comfortable and clean and very spacious. Some of the bedrooms don't have washhand basins, but apart from that, sharing bathrooms worked out ok for our party

Stayed here for five days as part of a coach group. Even though I was the driver, and not technically part of the group, the management and staff were very helpful. Nothing was too much bother and their local knowledge was definitely a godsend at times! The food was delicious, and there was plenty of parking (even for a coach!). The views are breathtaking, and I definitely advise everyone to stay here. Signal is very VERY hit and miss, but that's part of the beauty. It's a YHA so rooms are beds and a sink, but around here, you don't need much more as you'll be out enjoying the beautiful area you find yourself in.

Lovely weekend at Snowdon Rangers YHA. Pity no WiFi but this is a problem in the area so not just at the Hostel. Clean and well equipped. Would have liked the gas to be on in the kitchen from 7am rather than 7.30 but I can understand why it is off overnight.

The location is amazing, lovely views across the lake, great time walking around. Really welcoming staff providing a great service. Allowed free parking for my coach across the road. No phone reception at all. Luckily had WiFi. Room was tiny with only a bunk bed sink and a bedside cabinet in. It had a tiny skylight window in which only opens so much. Shared toilet and shower facilities which were next to my room and were clean but small. Had an annoying water pump system which kept me up most the night.

What a brilliant YHA. ||||I stayed here for 3 nights in a very very very wet/windy June trip. We used the hostel as a base for evenings, breakfast, takeaway lunch and dinner. The food was genuinely delicious (lovely crispy bacon and extra gravy!!), served promptly and in a very clean dining room. ||||The bedrooms were some of the cleanest I’ve stayed in amongst many YHAs, lovely fluffy duvets and pillows. ||||We couldn’t get the heating to work in the annex and Mike solved it for us immediately. Mike was really helpful, accommodated all of our requests and ensured that we had a brilliant stay. ||||There is no phone signal at all in the area (welcome to North Wales!) but the WiFi works well in the communal areas and main building. ||||If you cross the road you find a beautiful lake with lovely walks and the perfect bridge for Pooh sticks. ||||I would absolutely stay here again if visiting the area and will be recommending to friends and family.

Great location For Snowdon Ranger path in idyllic surroundings with lake on doorstep and great views. Booked a private twin room which was perfectly adequate for our needs - clean , comfortable beds and sink in room. Easy access to shared shower and toilet facilities. Decent enough public areas and for those who want to self cater a well equipped kitchen. Some maintenance required on decor but this is a Youth Hostel so you need to be realistic and judge the property against the values that the YHA stands for. Breakfast vfm and hostel staff friendly

Yelp
Set at the bottom of the Snowdon Ranger path, overlooking a lake this hostel is in a beautiful setting. I stopped there as part of a group so we had the hostel to ourselves. It was my first time in a traditional hostel so i was unsure of what to expect. The decor is a little alarming on the first floor, but the rooms and communal areas are clean, free from smells, and feel homely. When you look at the price you pay to stop in a YHA anything more than that really is a complete and total bonus. I'd stop there again without hesitation.

Yelp
We came for one night, giving the kids their first experience of youth hosteling. A stunning location, nestled right in the mountains and overlooking an impressive lake, we enjoyed our stay here. The staff are friendly and helpful and the communal lounge is a great place to chill out at night and have a game of cards - wifi available in the lounge. You can order dinner / breakfast at a reasonable price or use the self catering communal kitchen if you like. The washrooms are clean and well kept as was our dormitory room - it slept 6 in bunks and we had it to ourselves. Clean, fresh linen is provided and you can hire towels should you wish. The only downside was that the rooms were just so hot that it was a little uncomfortable to sleep - I noticed that a few rooms had their doors propped open with their bins. Overall, an impressive youth hostel.
