We have chosen to stay at The Sill a few times but our most recent trip was by far the best. The staff were so welcoming and accommodating, especially towards our son, special shout out to Anne as she was so generous. We love the freedom of the hostel approach to holidaying and this one is perfectly placed to adventure on Hadrians wall. The kitchen is well equipped and the rooms are spacious. Highly recommend for families.

Took my young family (4 and 9 months old) here last weekend. The manager Lee was incredibly welcoming and Anna the caretaker was so lovely to the children. We were surprised with how much there was to do with the kids so they had a lovely time considering how ill-prepared we were. The facilities weren’t just impeccably clean but super comfortable too. Everything was really accessible with a buggy which was a bonus too. All in all a really nice place for us all to stay.||We will be returning for sure.

Booked a private room for myself as a solo traveller.|The staff are friendly, the place is very clean and it had all I needed for an overnight stay whilst walking the Hadrian's Wall Path. |It is very bright , modern and clean .|I ate in the restaurant as I had taken advantage of a meal offer and really enjoyed my sausage and mash. |Highly recommend

Excellent yha ideally located for Hadrians wall . As this is relatively new the rooms are superb, large, comfortable and everything you need for aching legs. Extremely professional and friendly staff. Breakfast was good.|I had a private twin room en-suite . The mattress was very comfortable, bathroom was modern and a warm relaxing shower .|. I hired a towel for £2.50 .

I spent two nights here on a walk from Carlisle to Corbridge along Hadrian's Wall in August 2025. It was lovely. The staff were excellent, the breakfast was delicious and the room was warm and clean. The self catering kitchen was well equipped and I cooked my own evening meal. A welcome respite from my tent.

An outstanding hostel with lovely staff, right by the wall. Very clean and modern, part of a wider attraction with a visitor centre and cafe. We got there from Haltwistle train station on the AD122 bus which is regular and punctual. I did note electric bike charging which I'd not seen before, for anyone coming by ebike.

Stayed here on the third night of our walk along Hadrian's Wall and we loved it! ||We stayed in a private bunk bedded room for two. Very clean and lovely shower! Probably best of the whole trip! ||It's an understatement to say we were knackered after reaching the Sill after an 18 mile yomp over the crags so it was lovely to chill out with a couple of drinks on the sofas in the main foyer - very comfy and always felt welcome! ||Oh the breakfast buffet! That was also brilliant. Plenty to pick from and we were also offered seconds due to breakfast being over and plenty of food being left over - we took the advantage to make ourselves some bacon butties for lunch due to a lack of options for places to eat on day 4. ||I would absolutely recommend a stay here - we had our evening meal in the very nearby Twice Brewed Inn - a brilliant tag team just when you need it!

The YHA at the Sill is a great place to stay. Everything spotless and communal spaces comfortable. Anthony and Madison were both really friendly and helpful on check in and when providing local information. The breakfasts and evening meals were good value and had good quality ingredients. Overall a fantastic stay that we can highly recommend.
