YHA Wasdale Hall

Hands down it's up there in the hostel category! We checked in about 7:30 pm and were warmly hosted by the helpful Donna. We were encouraged to order a dinner before the kitchen had closed and the food was spot on. Decent bar open until 10 pm with all the essentials. Rooms were comfortable and ideal - a sink in our room and plenty of communal showers. The lodge itself is just off a lake which makes it a beautiful view to enjoy. There's also a ping pong table in the basement and drying room! We'd love to return there for a much longer stay next time as we were only there for a quick sleep.

Highly recommend YHA Wasdale its in a excellent location for exploring the surrounds of Wastwater Lake . The reception was exceptional and everyone was very helpful, the accommodation was clean and|comfortable, and the food was great too!! I would like to thank Donna, Tenzin and Emma and rest of the staff for making my stay comfortable.

Great location to stay in, definitely one of the best yha hostel I have stayed in, pity I only stayed for one night. the hostel is pretty and all its facilities are well kept. Only potential issue I can think of is the lack of public transport, luckily I drove a car so I did not face any issues. Big shout out to Evan(I think that's his name? sorry...) for staying up late way past the usual closing time to check us in. Absolute life saver.

A good place to stay before climbing Scafell Pike! Our experience staying in this hotel was wonderful! Friendly and warm staff, great food served here and the location. Where the tip of the lake sits in front of this place. Also, we can stargaze during the night, since the location is quite far from the residential area, with limited light pollution, spending the night having a coffee and cigs are recommended to do outside here!

Allowed us book in early after a long drive, owner had great knowledge of routes, perfect location, clean room/beds, great breakfast, evening meals not so good. ( room 8 )

Location is unbelievable! A few steps away from the lake, really close to Scafell pike. Emma was incredible, really helpful, friendly and caring.

Great location to start your hike up Scarfell. Friendly staff and very accommodating. Good food too
