YHA Windermere

Me and my 8 year old son have had a amazing stay at YHA Windermere. From on arrival we were welcomed with smiles by staff all seem to be great genuine friendly and helpful. Room was clean and with lovely views. From past experience when there are seared bathrooms they have not been so great but I have to say they were very clean so were the shower room. From start to finish it made my time at Windermere that more memorable. I would definitely recommend this place and I will definitely be going back when back in Windermere.

We stayed in an Airstream and would really recommend it! The staff were so friendly and accommodating from the beginning. The Airstream itself was super comfortable, and the campsite facilities (including indoor toilets and showers) were clean and well-equipped. The campfire was a plus, and the self-catering facilities had everything we needed for a 2 night stay. The hostel is a bit far out but we were able to get around by bus, walking and the occasional taxi. The views are incredible, and the campsite had a lovely atmosphere. Fantastic stay and would definitely recommend.

This was our second stay at YHA Windermere, just this time we had one of their TeePee tents. fabulous experience. |views to die for!|TeePee is very spacious; clean, equipped with 3 beds (2x single and 1 double bed) with all bedding provided, nice and clean. |also has a bean-bag to sit on if needed; |wood burner and a bit of wood provided to start with (we had our own wood but you can also purchase some more from them) |had one of the most comfortable sleeps outside my home in a long time|each TeePee has a picnic table outside and a fire pit outdoors - was amazing to see sun go down and have fire burning. |facilities - has good kitchen, 3 showers inside and 2 in porta-cabins. plus plenty of toilets. |always kept clean. |kitchen is well equipped |second morning we had Full english breakfast purchased from the main building which was also awesome|front desk staff were friendly, extremely helpful and very welcoming|highly recommend, now having stayed both, in the main building and in one of their tents.

The only downside of the visit was that the drying room was out of action when we were there, and the hot water in the showers was on the blink.||Aside from this, it’s a lovely clean Youth Hostel with decent facilities in a nice location. It’s one of the only Youth Hostels we’ve stayed in which doesn’t have spiders in the showers. The bar and recreation area are good, and the kitchen is on the small side so it gets a bit busy at peak times. We’d definitely return here. The staff are excellent and very helpful.

Staying at this hostel is an experience which should not be missed. Yes its a little walk to the hotel but for greater views you have to put in some effort. The reception is good. They allow me luggage storage for free. The dormitory is spacious with loads of well managed washrooms and showers.

Clean rooms, quiet and gorgeous view. The wifi and mobile signal terrible. Definitely need a car to stay here. The drying room and tumble dryer failed to dry our washing, which was a little stressful. Staff friendly, kitchen was decent. Toilets had a poor flush, which isn't great when they are shared..Not allowed to drink your own wine on site despite it being self catering.

We Head a great time Camping at the YHA in windermere. Although a little far from the local Bus Station, the gorgeous view makes up for it. Beautiful terrace and very friendly service. The food is okay - nothing special - but fairly priced which is nice. Thanks!

Loved our stay here! We stayed for four nights and really enjoyed the views and the facilities of the hostel. The kitchens were well equipped to self cater and the showers were clean and hot. We didn’t eat at the hostel but the food looked and smelled good. Did drink the beer though and really liked the IPA on tap. We stayed in a Tipi which was new experience for us but worked well. Duvets and pillows were provided but we brought sleeping bags which helped keep us warm. You had 12v lighting and a USB charging socket but we just used the hostel to charge devices. Parking was a bit of a challenge. The hostel was busy (Easter week) and if you arrived late getting a space was a bit of stress. We always found somewhere though and it encouraged us to walk from the hostel but / take the bus! Love the YHA. Really liked this hostel. A great way to be in the lakes.
