Loved our stay here! We stayed for four nights and really enjoyed the views and the facilities of the hostel. The kitchens were well equipped to self cater and the showers were clean and hot. We didn’t eat at the hostel but the food looked and smelled good. Did drink the beer though and really liked the IPA on tap. We stayed in a Tipi which was new experience for us but worked well. Duvets and pillows were provided but we brought sleeping bags which helped keep us warm. You had 12v lighting and a USB charging socket but we just used the hostel to charge devices. Parking was a bit of a challenge. The hostel was busy (Easter week) and if you arrived late getting a space was a bit of stress. We always found somewhere though and it encouraged us to walk from the hostel but / take the bus! Love the YHA. Really liked this hostel. A great way to be in the lakes.

I have been returning here for several years. I have always camped, though there are several other options to suit everyone from the large hostel building and rooms itself, teepees, pods, and caravans.||||The views of Windermere are stunning.||||The hostel provides breakfast and evening meals if required plus self-catering options.||||The camping residents can utilise this but also have their own building with a full kitchen, two cookers, and refrigerator and freezer. Plates, cups, pots, pans, and cutlery are available to use, and as they are shared, you will be expected to clean and replace them after use. The kitchen also provides a large table with chairs to eat at and bench tables outside.||||The same building also has shower and toilet facilities free to use. ||||The staff have always proven to be polite and helpful. One such person I have encountered on every visit is Stuart. He has been a particular help to me with information on local attractions, etc. and it is a joy to see how well he always helps others with a friendly smile and attentiveness.||||I will keep returning here for years to come.

When we arrived, everyone was tired, hot and out of sorts but the staff made it abundantly clear that we could take all the time we needed to settle down before checking in and we're professional and respectful deapite the chaos we seemed to bring with us! They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and found our room, which was also very clean, bright and attractive. The communal space was calm, comfortable and modern with a lovely outside space and the restaurant and bar was clean and welcoming. I was very impressed with our experience and would absolutely recommend the hostel and will be booking to stay again.

Location far from central but if you're looking for remote and beautiful scenery this is your place. Good food, selection of local brews on the bar, great breakfast 😋 Comfortable room but bed sheets squeaked the mattress every time we turned over. Room 16, well decorated in a William Morris esq style. Shared bathroom next door. Would go back :)

I loved our stay at Windermere YHA. The setting is stunning, the facilities great and the staff lovely and really helpful. |I stayed there for four nights with my partner and two older children in one of their private rooms which was very well equipped and clean. My favourite part by far was the amazing views of the lake from the outdoor area, where we would sit every evening to watch the sunset. I also really liked the amazing grounds with extensive garden to explore and be closer to the wildlife. Very recommendable.

Had a fantastic stay at YHA Windermere in a dormitory. Views from the room itself and the terrace at the back of the property were unbelievable, panoramic views of Lake Windermere. Service was faultless, any questions or queries were not an issue at all. Self catering kitchen was good and very well stocked. Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking to do the Lake District on a budget.

Cheap and cheerful rooms, I shared a 6 bed dorm, plenty of space to roam around, views are breathtaking, full English £10.95, cereal, fruit yogurt, pastries, toast, juice, tea , coffee, £5.95. books and games, no TVs, drying room, gardens to roam around and outside seating. Evening meals and alcoholic beverages and soft drinks, ice cream and lollys.

Great stay. Cooking facilities are a bit cramped compared to other YHA hostels in the area and it did feel claustrophic at points. But the view is unparalleled. Clean rooms with fun individual touches compared to other YHAs (remnants of the interior design masters makeovers) Bar and relaxed areas had a great atmosphere and were warm and cosy. Only down side is getting up and down the hill to the campsite, about 30 mins everytime.
