YHA Windermere

Me and my 8 year old son have had a amazing stay at YHA Windermere. From on arrival we were welcomed with smiles by staff all seem to be great genuine friendly and helpful. Room was clean and with lovely views. From past experience when there are seared bathrooms they have not been so great but I have to say they were very clean so were the shower room. From start to finish it made my time at Windermere that more memorable. I would definitely recommend this place and I will definitely be going back when back in Windermere.

2nd time staying at the lovely and welcoming YHA Windermere and it was great. It’s a lovely hostel with fantastic expansive views over Windermere, good kitchen facilities and a decent area to sit and eat or sit and chat in the evening. I experienced a lovely welcome from Fiona on the Sunday night I arrived, checking me in early which was much appreciated as it allowed me to get my run up Wansfell done before it got dark. Highly recommended for a stay.

We stayed in an Airstream and would really recommend it! The staff were so friendly and accommodating from the beginning. The Airstream itself was super comfortable, and the campsite facilities (including indoor toilets and showers) were clean and well-equipped. The campfire was a plus, and the self-catering facilities had everything we needed for a 2 night stay. The hostel is a bit far out but we were able to get around by bus, walking and the occasional taxi. The views are incredible, and the campsite had a lovely atmosphere. Fantastic stay and would definitely recommend.

Brilliant weekend at YHA Windermere. Friendly and helpful staff, hostel was warm and clean. The views are awesome with snow capped mointains in the distance.

The only downside of the visit was that the drying room was out of action when we were there, and the hot water in the showers was on the blink.||Aside from this, it’s a lovely clean Youth Hostel with decent facilities in a nice location. It’s one of the only Youth Hostels we’ve stayed in which doesn’t have spiders in the showers. The bar and recreation area are good, and the kitchen is on the small side so it gets a bit busy at peak times. We’d definitely return here. The staff are excellent and very helpful.

A fantastic two night stay in the YHA Windermere campsite. We made full use of their extensive facilities and amenities and were welcomed by friendly staff. A great gateway to the surrounding area - fantastic value for money.

This was our second stay at YHA Windermere, just this time we had one of their TeePee tents. fabulous experience. |views to die for!|TeePee is very spacious; clean, equipped with 3 beds (2x single and 1 double bed) with all bedding provided, nice and clean. |also has a bean-bag to sit on if needed; |wood burner and a bit of wood provided to start with (we had our own wood but you can also purchase some more from them) |had one of the most comfortable sleeps outside my home in a long time|each TeePee has a picnic table outside and a fire pit outdoors - was amazing to see sun go down and have fire burning. |facilities - has good kitchen, 3 showers inside and 2 in porta-cabins. plus plenty of toilets. |always kept clean. |kitchen is well equipped |second morning we had Full english breakfast purchased from the main building which was also awesome|front desk staff were friendly, extremely helpful and very welcoming|highly recommend, now having stayed both, in the main building and in one of their tents.

Beautiful play to camp with a view over Windermere Lake. The facilities were excellent - campers have full access to the bar, lounge and kitchen as well as having their own separate kitchen and shower block. Thanks for a great stay!
