Where to Eat, Stay, and Play on Ios, the Most Underrated Greek Island

"If you prefer to stay in the Chora, Yialos Ios Hotel is your best bet. The boutique hotel’s 35 rooms and apartments feature classic whitewashed stone walls and traditional white Cycladic architecture and built-in furniture, with many rooms sporting balconies."

My now husband and I just spent our wedding week at Yialos hotel. We had family from all over the world come for the week to join us for our celebrations. ||With a guest list of 43 people and all of us under one roof we were both skeptical on how this would go. I cannot praise this hotel enough. The facilities were perfect and kept to an incredible standard. The breakfast was everything we could have asked for and more. ||The team of Yialos was one of our key takeaways. Nothing was ever too much to ask for and the assistance with dinner reservations for large groups, taxis organized and events run at the hotel all ran smoothly again with outstanding friendly service. They truly are amazing and we cannot thank them enough. ||The hotel its self was so beautiful. Super clean, beautiful rooms and a perfect location from the port and chora town. ||We truly cannot recommend this hotel enough whether it be for a big gathering or relaxing get away, it has everything you need and more. ||Thank you so much Sophia and Dimitris for hosting us, you have a beautiful family and hotel and cannot wait to come visit again soon. ||Shout out to Claudio the best bar man on the island!!

An amazing hotel so much more than its 3 stars!! Having stayed in some of the top 10 hotels in the world i can tell you that Yialos hotel blew us away!! It’s everything you want to feel like you are really experiencing an authentic stay in Ios. Location is perfect its literally a 2 minute walk feom the port and beach. Funnily enough as we approached the hotel i said to my husband what a beautiful building/hotel before i realised it was our hotel. We stayed in Room 22, it was excellent lovely sitting room, kitchen area. Great bathroom. 2 balconies and an outside terrace. A mezzanine level with stairs that were very unique but you might struggle if you have any problems with stairs and def not suitable for kids. The kitchen was well equipped too. And a lovely l shaped sofa. The air conditioning was good and also there was a fan provided on the mezzanine level too. The bed was comfy as where the pillows. Breakfast was also really good. Lots of homemade cakes and traditional greek food. The only slight negative is the hot food wasnt as hot as some might like. The yoghurt/honey and fresh fruit always delicious too. Always managed to find an area to enjoy breakfast even when the hotel was busy. The pools was also great, visited end of September and the salt water pool was still lovely and warm. Sunbeds and towels provided. A lovely vibe by the pool too. Lunch/snack menu was small but had everything you needed. The hotel owners staff were all so lovely and helpful and genuinely cared. There was also a little Library to swop books etc. advice for restaurants/day trips/ taxis etc all very easy to get any time of day. The hotel was so beautiful and the location was perfect. Went to the local beach twice literally a 2 min walk, beautiful bay even though the ferries come in the sand and water warm and no stones. Eating by the marina at night was also very lovely full of great restaurants. Would highly recommend this hotel it has boho Ibiza vibes , it’s spotlessly clean and inviting and the family who run it make it even more special….cant wait to return to Yialos Hotel very soon!

We had the most amazing stay at Yialos Hotel in Ios – it was absolutely beautiful! The rooms were very spacious, well laid out, and spotless. They were cleaned every single day to perfection by the wonderful cleaner (we didn’t catch his name), and it really showed how much care goes into the place.||The hotel is run by the loveliest family – Dimitris and Sofia were incredible hosts. They looked after us so well, always there to help with any questions about the hotel or give us great advice about the island.||At the bar, Katerina and Claudio were both fantastic – super friendly, welcoming, and every cocktail they made was amazing (the Tiki Passion is a must-try!). The pool area was also brilliant – plenty of comfortable loungers for everyone, all in great condition, and a large, clean pool that was perfect for relaxing.||The food here really surprised us – it was absolutely fantastic. The burger in particular might just be one of the best we’ve ever had! The drinks were equally delicious, and it’s worth taking the staff’s recommendations because they really know their stuff.||On top of all that, the location couldn’t have been better. The hotel is just outside the port, only a 2-minute walk. On an island as hilly as Ios, this was a huge bonus for moving luggage and getting around easily.||Overall, Yialos Ios Hotel was perfect in every way – from the warm family atmosphere to the amazing food, drinks, and facilities. We can’t recommend it highly enough and can’t wait to come back!

We and another couple have just had 5 great nights in a Deluxe Double at this hotel. Great location, great pool area, great rooms and great hosts. The only slight negative was the breakfast as no fresh juice or espresso made coffees and the room decriptions say 'coffee facilities' but there weren't any. ||We will definately return!

We stayed at Yialos Ios Hotel at the start of June and had a great stay. We stayed in the room that has its own private pool and it was lovely. The room was incredibly spacious and everything was new and clean. Having the kitchen was very handy. The hotel is located at the port so the walk up to the centre can be difficult in the heat but the bus stop is right outside the hotel and you can get into the centre very quickly. The team were lovely and very helpful and constantly checked in to see how we were getting on. We would definitely stay again.

A beautiful family-run hotel. We loved it so much that we stayed at the pool more than the nearby beach. The owners were hospitable and kind, offering us recommendations on where to go and making sure to accommodate our needs. The rooms are a bit small but they are clean, comfortable and beautifully designed. The breakfast was great, bar staff were lovely and house keeping was excellent. The hotel is also extremely close to the port (3-5min walk) which is convenient. Would definitely come again :)

Having been recommended by friends, we were not disappointed with our stay.||Great family run hotel and lovely staff. ||Dimitris, Sophia, and the afternoon bar man (whose name we didn’t quite catch) were all very welcoming & helpful with recommendations of what to do whilst visiting IOS. |The hotel is right next to the bus stop if you want to go into town but alternatively the port has lots of restaurants.||The rooms are on the smaller side but our balcony was a good size, and we spent most of our daytimes at the pool which was lovely and big with lots of sun-loungers. Room was well kept everyday. ||Thank you for a great stay!
