Highly recommend beef & shrimp rice rolls dipped in sweet soy sauce. And congee was surprisingly umami. Huge portions. Great service, I barely waited for 10 mins when both orders came

This place took me back to Hong Kong, from the efficiency to the taste of the food. I think as in the name, they have specialty in chang fen (rice roll cake). We ordered 3 items from this menu: the pork and shrimp, beef tendon and plain rice cake. The skin is thin, soft, smooth and you can almost devour them without chewing. I preferred the shrimp and pork filling because the beef can be chewy some part. As for the plain one, it’s eaten with sweet light soy sauce and peanut sauce, and it’s hard to stop once you started. The dimsum items were normally delicious as well. The size is also quite generous. We also tried wonton soup and congee. I love both of them. And we also tried HK milk tea, which we thought would come out in an ice bowl as on the menu photo, but it was just in normal takeaway cup. The taste is also strong and authentic, not so sweet and you can choose to add sugar if you want to. One more interesting part is they give us hot water to drink - very authentic experience. And yes, if you have a chance, please try to draw something to leave as a memoir. I did it and am very excited to see if it ever gets hung.

The food is generally good. I like eating Congee a lot all my life. Now I find the Congee seemed to lose its original excellence. I am thinking it might be because of the brand of rice or the Congee was not cooked from scratch. Something was missing.

We ordered home and despite the long wait (due to the distance), it was all worth it. The food was semi warm when it got to our house but everything is great. My favourite is the braised pork knuckle and chicken feet. My husband likes the braised beed brisket. I bet it will taste even better is we were in store!

If you seek traditional Chinese Dim sum, this is a good spot to check out. I love the hot milk tea they offer as well, it brought back the good memories.

I call it "a student place" for their reasonable prices 😋. Fresh hot congee with a beautiful amount of fresh seafood toppings! Literally the most toppings seafood congee that I've ever eaten in my life lol, and it was just $11 or so I believe Definitely be back for the congee ( -1 since their menu is quite small thou)

Absolutely amazing!!! This delightful Chinese congee and rice roll place may not look like much from the outside, but they are serving up some of the most delicious (and affordable) Chinese breakfast in Toronto! I swear I would come here literally every single day if I lived in the city -- the food is wonderful, and the staff makes the place feel like home. I stumbled into Yin Ji Chang Fen after wandering around Kensington Market, and I had no idea that I was in for my favorite meal in the city. I was warmly welcomed into the rather utilitarian, simply decorated space by several Chinese aunties, who ushered me to a table and offered me hot tea. I thumbed through the menu for a moment, but it's generally quite straightforward -- rice rolls (chang fen) and congee, both of which were my favorite childhood comfort foods. I got their fish congee with preserved duck egg, as well as a shrimp rice roll; every single item was perfect. The congee was super warm and comforting, as though it were medicine for my soul, and it was packed with plenty of fish and a generous helping of preserved egg. The fish was super tender and flakey, and the preserved egg helped to amp up the flavor. The chang fen was also outstanding -- I've had a hard time finding the perfect chang fen on the East Coast, but this one honestly came really close. The noodles were paper-thin and tender, but with a slight chew, and they were filled with a generous portion of shrimp and topped with the signature slightly sweet, salty, and umami sauce. It was also extremely affordable and a ton of food -- I was absolutely stuffed, and you could easily split the congee and chang fen between two people for a lighter breakfast and/or enjoy the dishes for two meals. I can't wait to come back here soon!

Overall: A // 5 stars If you are Cantonese, you definitely know this chain as a great chain that consolidates all your favorite canto breakfast food at value prices and good quality into one location. If you are not Cantonese but like Cantonese food, this is the place to check out for just that! Cantonese comfort food done well -- do I need to say more? (Iceberg Lettuce: B) - This dish is a bit difficult to eat as its just half a head of iceberg lettuce (not even unwrapped) steamed for several minutes, and then topped with soy. Nevertheless, this was exactly what I wanted to eat that day and it was cooked simple but cooked well. (Beef Cheung Fun: A) - The rice crepe is on the thicker side, but not in a way that is unpleasant to consume. The filling is everything I would want in this dish, perfectly done; we got tender beef pieces, and some lettuce for some freshness; the subtle details of tangerine peel, cilantro, and chinese chive all help to add flavor in this $9cad perfection. The soy sauce also does a good job balancing sugar and saline, an often neglected part that is instrumental to bringing this dish to the next level. Really great authentic HK milk tea and yin yuan (coffee/tea) drinks! Their rice noodles are also alright but their rice noodle wrapped around dough stick dish is just okay. It gets soggy by the time it gets delivered. Would highly recommend this place for their hot drinks!

Stopped in for a quick bite and tried the truffle shrimp rice roll and chicken feet. I really enjoyed the rice roll, it was tasty. The chicken feet were just okay for me. They gave us a menu when we sat down, but told us to order everything through the QR code. Not a big deal, just something to know. Overall, a solid spot.

We came here as a group of four on a weekday night, and a lot of seating was available. We ordered over 10 dishes and left feeling full. Some dishes were ordered: salted egg congee, noodles, shrimp and chive rice roll, marinated beef rice roll, fried fish skin, fried shrimp roll, BBQ pork bun, and curry fish ball. There are also several desserts and drinks available. My favourites were shrimp and chive rice rolls, fried shrimp rolls, and BBQ pork buns. My least favourite was the curry fish balls (too chewy), noodles and congee (didn't like the flavours - personal preference). Overall, the service was quick, and we got a lot of tea refills. This is a location of Yi Ji Chan Fen in downtown Toronto. They serve rice rolls, congee, dim sum, drinks and other snacks. The interior is quite spacious, clean, and well organized. You can order via a QR code at your table. The food is fresh and service is fast. The prices are also very reasonable. Overall, great value for money and great to drop in for a quick snack.

Came for some dinner around 5 pm. Place was mostly empty, so food came to at a good pace. Later on more people started trickling in. Ordered a beef brisket plate and a shrimp congee with some fried dough on the side. The plate comes with a good amount of beef and it was tender enough. Congee was delicious, although the fried dough could be a bit crispier. During the meal I heard a loud zap, as if something was being electrocuted. And indeed, one of the staff was terminating some flies. Dinner and show! I like a restaurant that makes an effort to get rid of flies. 5 stars right there.

This place was recommended by a friend for their infamous rice rolls. As this is something I don't get often in Boston, I had to try all their specialties on the menu. We were here after the lunch rush hour and were seated right away. They have so many menu options! And each has English translation. We got congee, bunch of rice rolls and a condensed milk toast. Everything was absolutely delicious. Special mention to their chilli oil! Will be here again, comfort food in chilly weather.

Food is amazing especially the milk tea! It is my all time favourite. The rice roll way better than many other Chinese restaurant but the dim sum is not very good. Better to get it in a real yum cha restaurant. Service is so so. You order your food using the QR code and the staff will bring you the food. The restaurant is clean and cozy tho.

I went to this place two times when I was visiting Toronto for a weekend because it was simply that good! I was able to try three of their chang fens-- the truffle mushroom and shrimp one, the beef brisket one and the chinese fried donut / 油条（not pictured). All of them were super delicious and flavourful! I also loved how they had an immense variety that I don't normally see offered since I've only had the shrimp and beef ones before. It's also great to get multiple ones to share with friends since each one was between 6.99-11.99. The donut one came with a hoisin like sauce and was very crispy, both the beef brisket and the truffle one also had delicious sauces. Their shu mai was okay but nothing too special. However, I was pleasantly surprised by their congee as well -- the mixed congee came with many different toppings including different veggies, bamboo and peanuts as well as white pepper on the side. Lastly, I'd also recommend their milk tea since it comes in a bowl of ice -- it's not too sweet either! This place is definitely a must try for congee and chang fen with affordable prices

Our 1st meal while visiting Toronto was Yin Ji Chang Fan. Since it's already in their name, the chang fan/rice rolls is a must have. There were so many choices to choose from on the menu, and you order it by the number. We ordered a few rice rolls plus some dim sum, congee and beef brisket noodles for the 4 of us. We also added the Chinese donut Ox Tongue since I don't see this item that often. Everything came out quickly, it was delicious and flavorful. The truffle mushroom rice roll was of course just truffle oil, but we enjoyed the BBQ pork and shrimps rice rolls. The only thing is the rice roll is a bit more soggy/mochi like which takes getting used to with the chopsticks. Lunch was great and prices were reasonable.

Went there before noon on Sunday and the place was fairly busy. Amazing food! My fav were congee with century egg and pork, and truffle shrimp chang fen.

Great casual spot when you're craving rice noodle rolls in the Chinatown area. I came in during the later afternoon hours and wasn't too busy. Rice noodle rolls: The price range was around $6-$7. I got the shrimp roll and tasted delicious. It's a great light meal if you're not looking for anything heavy. Fried Durian Balls: A new menu item that was listed at the restaurant. The filling had a nice durian filling. Overall, a great spot for casual eats in the Chinatown area. Totally would come back again.

Dropped by for dinner a few weeks ago! Saturday ~6PM. The restaurant was full and we had to wait 10min to be seated. I was really excited to try this place as I've heard great reviews from friends and online. They serve HK cafe style Cheung fun (rice noodle roll), congee, and other light dim sum type of dishes. I went with friends. I ordered the beef and chives rice noodle roll, HK style rice noodle roll, the seafood congee, and my friends ordered the BBQ pork bun, along with their own rice noodle rolls. I thought the rice noodle rolls were a big portion size and also tasted good. It was served as one giant roll versus some other places you might see it rolled up into smaller rolls. The HK style rice noodle roll was OK - I personally prefer the one at Sugar Marmalade more because this one felt a bit too saucy in the wrong way... My friends enjoyed their rice noodle roll. For the BBQ pork bun....when it was served to us, it was cold and very obvious it had been going through a defrosting that wasn't finished. My friend noted that the filling in hers was cold as if it came out of the fridge without being heated. Mine and my other friend's pieces were on the colder side of lukewarm. And for the seafood congee...the portion size and price were great. However, the seafood itself was very fishy and not fresh tasting. I was disappointed as I really love congee and this was unfortunately not it. Because the restaurant was busy, we were kind of being rushed to leave. We weren't finished eating our food, yet the server was already trying to take the dishes (with plenty of food still on it) back and hand us the bill. We were timing our stay because we had plans to attend an event after eating, so it was kind of odd. It was not the greatest experience and I wouldn't go out of my way to come back again, but definitely a solid spot for Cheung fun.

I have paid Yin Ji Chang Fen a visit twice, and am excited to go again! The food here is delicious, well priced, and the service is quite efficient. The highlights for me from here have been the chicken congee, beef brisket rolls, and pretty much all the dim sum I've had.

The first time I had this place was in LA and love the food. This one is located in Toronto Chinatown. It opens pretty early, great breakfast place! Since there was four of us, we ordered different items to try. There was curry fish ball, fish jook, Chinese doughnut, chicken feet, and rice roll (popular items). Everything came out fresh and hot. The food were all so delicious. My parents enjoyed it since it reminds them of home. Service was attentive and nice. The restaurant gets busy pretty quick but people come and go. It was a pretty decent size restaurant and clean place.

Really enjoyed this location for their congee and rice rolls. It's one of the better rice roll places that we have tried in dt locations. The restaurant service is pretty fast and almost like fast food style service. I also really like their congees as they are not too thick, I tend to like my congee a bit more runny. One thing that's always amazing about this chain is how tender all the meats taste. It's never tasting rough. The store itself is ok. When you visit it, you are not there for the atmosphere. One thing that is kind of in the down side is their portion size, the price rolls are on the more pricier side.

Amazing and authentic Cantonese food! This is a casual place located in the Chinatown of Toronto. I ordered a congee, and a Chang fen. Both were really delicious. It was fairly priced and service was very kind too

My parents are big critiques of food, esp coming from hk. We overall liked it. The beef rice rolls was not the same beef type as hk dimsum! It was more beef pieces, rather than a singular beef rectangle - if that makes sense. Still good, but not our preference. We did like the Chinese donut one and the congee was a hit!! Price point was all in the $6-$8 range. Super reasonable. Ambiance was inviting and warm and clean. Overall, would go again and maybe skip out on ordering the beef rice rolls.

Great food and fast service especially on a chilly day in the city. The congee was delicious as well as the rice rolls and appetizers. The dim sum options here were also nice to satisfy that craving on top of congee and other apps...it basically was a one-stop shop for some of my favorites. The HK milk tea was the icing on the cake. Ambiance was cool and hip but casual. We didn't have to wait for a table and the servers were quick to come take your order when needed and bought the food out not too long after. This is definitely a solid go-to spot for me to get congee on a go-forward basis whenever I'm in Toronto.

Yin Ji Chang Fen has a location in BC Richmond but I have never been. My colleague told me that they have a location here in Toronto and it is way better than the location in BC. On top the prices are much more cheaper than the BC location (each items $1 to $2 difference). If you order from Uber, they have a BOGO deal going on. I tried their: - Shrimp and Chives rice rolls - Siu Mai - Beef Congee. Wow I have to say their portion size is huge. They were very generous on the shrimp in the rice roll. There were lots of beef in their congee. I can't complain. I didn't manage to finish the food. It was quite a bit for one person. The meal was delicious. I highly recommend trying this place if you have never been. I am guessing the specialize in rice rolls from their name.

Food items were okay--jook and rice noodles were good, but other dim sum items were mediocre at best. The service was mixed. The older lady with short hair was nice, but the younger girl with long hair was a beach. I will not come back because of her since there are so many other options. You need to teach your employees to be nicer to the customers.

Always wanted to try this spot since heard good reviews about it! This place lives up to its name + very friendly service! The dining area is also quite spacious for chinatown. Pork/Shrimp/Beef and chive roll: Very soft and made fresh! Also LOADED with toppings Truffle and shrimp roll: the batter is infused with truffles and makes a unique dish Braised brisket and egg noodles: tender and perfectly spiced Frozen milk tea: love how the ice is served on the outside so the drink doesn't get watered down! HK style coffee: rich and sweet! Seafood congee: packed with flavour and variety of toppings ! Fresh water fish slice congee: highly recommended dish!

The food here is amazing. I haven't had any things tasted like this close to in Hong Kong in USA/ Canada. The food tasted just like the food from the street in Hong Kong and transported it here. The staff is amazing and takes good care of you. The restaurant is nice and clean. The only thing is that we came on a Saturday morning, there are not a lot of people and it seems empty. Then I realized that everyone ordered delivery service from this place. My suggestion is to go eat here and where the food is nice and fresh.

It'll do in a pinch. I'm upset how expensive this simple meal is. I guess that's the new norm.

Clean spot for good food, cheap prices, friendly staff, fast service, and great hours! You could come here for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even late night until midnight. Their chang fen range from $5.25-7.50 and the portions are definitely shareable if you want to try a variety. We tried their beef+shrimp+chives ($7.25), pork+shrimp+chives ($7.25), and dried shrimp ($5.50). I highly recommend adding their delicious chili oil and sprinkling some white pepper, otherwise the slightly sweet and very savory soy sauce that comes with the chang fen is already very delicious! The chang fen had a really nice portion of each type of filling and the rice noodle part was super chewy. They also have other items like congee and snacks. We got the oyster congee ($9.99) which is definitely shareable between two people. It was packed with oysters and the oysters were super fresh. We also got a sticky rice wrap ($5.75) which I thought was okay. The rice had good flavor but could have used more seasoning. Lastly we tried the deep fried steamed buns ($4.50). These were very crispy on the outside but were fried so much that they were a little dry on the inside. The condensed milk helped a little with the dryness. Overall I had a really great experience trying various items from their menu! It seems that their chang fen and congee are definitely their stronger dishes so I'd order more of those next time. The chili oil at the table is fragrant and flavorful with a good kick!

The food here was mediocre and nothing too mind-blowing. If you had curry fish balls from Hong Kong, then these pale in comparison; not much curry flavor and the fish ball isn't that great quality. The congee has a strong flavor, which shows that it's been stewing for a bit which is great, but the ingredients in the congee did not really enhance the flavor that much. If you had congee from Sam's Delight, then this will definitely pale in comparison as well. The rice roll was also plain and not too fascinating as well; the crepe was soft and fresh, but other than that, the overall dish was just mediocre. HK style milk tea was too milky and the soy milk drink was just okay. Overall experience was just decent, which is nice to try but not good enough to want to come back. Decent rice noodle rolls but everything I tried - including congee, Chinese donut, various dim sum, and noodles - left much to be desired. There are plenty of other places in the area that I'd choose over this one!

I often visit their uptown locations and was so glad they have authentic congee downtown. This restaurant is really clean and the quality and taste is consistent with their other locations. Also noting they offer really quick, efficient service as well with affordable prices! (+ perfect hangover food)

Sorry bout the partially consumed photos - too hungry to capture before digging in. What we had: - Dough wrapped in rice noodles - Beef brisket and rice rolls - HK milk tea Overall a great brunch/snack. Rice noodles were in all cases were fluffy and uniform. I like how the milk tea was iced to not dilute the taste. The brisket and noodles was much more filling than expected. Those rice rolls are dense! Brisket was as tender as my mom makes them at home, and the broth was thick and flavourful! I'd come back for sure!

Absolutely delicious congee and chang fen. Tried the sliced fish congee, truffle mushroom chang fen, shrimp and chives chang fen, and fried dough chang fen. The soy sauce they use is delicious. Service was efficient. I think an ideal meal is one congee and one chang fen, which would be around $12 before tax and tip. Warning, however, for people with peanut allergies: their hoisin and sesame sauce also contains peanut sauce.

It is a pretty famous chaining restaurant for Cantonese food. To be honest, in North America, it might be a good restaurant, however, in Toronto, it needs to be better. It's totally overrated. The food was of so bad quality. You can tell they were just frozen food. The environment was unpleasant. Its plates and cups were dirty and greasy. it was totally not worth spending that much money on its food and the environment. I felt ashamed about bringing my friends to go there on their first day in Toronto. There are many authentic and much better Cantonese restaurants in Toronto.

This is some of the best rice rolls I have ever had. An actual Cantonese spot that delivers the goods. The brisket reminds me of home and what dad would have been stewing for hours. Pork and chive was delicious too. Rice noodles were sticky and cooked to perfection.

My friend and I wanted to get something filling at 8am and I saw that Yin Ji Chang Fen was opened with lots of delicious menu options! I got the beef and shrimp rice roll and my friend and I shared the siu mai. It came out really quickly and the rice roll was good. I would have preferred if the rice roll was thicker but still with the soy sauce it was delicious. Siu mai was straight forward. Service was good too! I'd totally return again to try their other rice noodle rolls.

Arrived to Toronto Chinatown at 7am after a 5hr overnight flight from San Diego and this was basically the only spot open so we were very excited for some hot, warm Asian food. I came in with high expectations and the food was definitely good, but I still expected better. You order by writing everything on a piece of scratch paper, which I actually don't mind! It's easier and more efficient in my opinion for both parties). Food wise, I think everything was just mildly delicious but nothing extraordinary that I would come back for (except for the drink! Which just tasted like Lipton tea and lemon but for some reason it was aaaamazing) I don't exactly remember what each order was, but definitely do come by for some comfort breakfast food:) They did forget one of our orders but it's okay, we were way too full to finish another dish.

Came here for a quick dinner. They noticed me right away and sat me at a table with water and a menu. I received my food quickly. I got the pork congee and the curry fish balls. They were fantastic. I'd never had congee before but it was quite flavorful and filling. The portion size was huge and it had a good amount of meat in it. The curry fish balls were also delicious and had a great curry flavor. I did not get any water refill, and it took a while to get my check but overall a great experience!

Some of my son's favorites to be found. Dogbone-Chinese doughnut, rice paper rolls, BBQ pork buns, shrimp dumplings -had a great lunch with small plates at this nice spot on Spadina. Staff was very friendly and the food was great.

A very good place for various congees, rice rolls and dim sum food options. I tried their seafood congee and it was seasoned well with a good amount of different seafood. The best item was their truffle rice roll with mushrooms, and shrimp. It had a nice variety of different savoury flavours and textures. The fried fish skin was also good too. It was almost like shrimp chips with a fish taste. Worth checking out if you are in the area.

I had high expectations of YinJi before I tried it because I was told by two of my friends that YinJi is so good. However, I was disappointed after I visit it. I'm not saying it's a lame restaurant, the food was ok actually, but not surprising compared with the other Cantonese restaurants I tried in Toronto. YinJi is a place where you could order something for lunch or supper and finish the meal quickly, it's more like a fast-food restaurant in a Dim Sum field, not a place where you could seat for a long time and enjoy delicate Dim Sum with tea. The environment was a bit messy as well, the decks and cups were greasy and the isles between each table were too narrow. Anyway, 3/5 is the highest point I suppose.

Mmmm great place for comfort food. Our meal: - Marinated beef & shrimp with chives rice noodle roll - Duck meat and chives rice noodle roll - Shredded pork and gold preserved egg congee - Dough sticks - Shrimp dumplings - Shrimp siu mai Highlights for me were the beef rice noodle roll and congee (that egg though). Not as grandiose as dim sum places in Markham / Scarborough, but solid food nonetheless.

Great price for the portions! We accidentally ordered Enough food for 4, because we didn't realize how big the portions were. You write down your order on scratch piece of paper found near the condiments. My favorite was the braised pork knuckles. The dough for the shrimp dumplings were thin and falling apart. Siu mai was good. Congee is always a great comfort food. The rice noodle roll with beef brisket was good and super filling.

I've been dropping by Yin Ji Chang Fen every time I was uptown so I'm thrilled that they have a place downtown. They don't have an extensive menu like normal Chinese restaurants but perfect the few items they serve, ie. Rice rolls (Cheung fun) and congee. Super comforting and simply the best Chinese rice rolls in the city. They are better than the normal rice rolls that you get at dim sum. It's very affordable, about $5-6 per item and with the COVID period they are offering additional 20% off if you pick up in store and pay cash. We really enjoyed the three different steamed rice rolls we ordered, the duck, chicken and shrimp, so yummy! The beef brisket braised noodle was something special and the hot milk tea was one of the best I've had. The steamed almond egg white was also so so good. I like that it wasn't too sweet and everything was so tasty without being too salty. The place was clean, spacious, service friendly and efficient, the price was very reasonable!

We stopped briefly in this place for some quick eats. I ordered the Barbecue Pork and Chives in Rice Noodle. I loved the dish especially the pork. It priced decently and tasted great.

I had the plain rice noodle roll and the shrimp and chive one. I also had soy milk to enjoy. To order, they give you a menu with photos and you use the pencil and paper to write down what you want. The plain rice noodle roll is covered in soy sauce and on the side is a little container of peanut butter and Hoisin sauce. Definitely add this to the plain one - it is great! The shrimp and chive one was also quite good. I didn't realize why I was given a bowl and spoon but I saw locals use them to eat the parts of the rice noodle that has broken off.
