Yin's Restaurant

We stopped here after the beach and the food was ok, nothing special the rice was bland. The egg rolls were the star of the show, the general Tao chicken was just ok. They need to add more spices, more flavour, everything tasted the same. Our server Nyla ( I hope that’s right) was a star, took are order promptly and gave us a good suggestion on the egg rolls. That girl needs a raise. Sorry but it’s a one and done for us .

Absolutely delicious! We ordered fried rices, chicken, cheese burger and fries. The fried rice has the taste of "wok-hei"! Long time no taste such Chinese cuisine essence! The chicken is super yum, cheese burger has all ingredients fresh, and the fries, ooooh, so crunchy and is freshly made. On top of all these, the servers are super friendly! They have had a super busy day already cuz it's eclipse day, but they still very helpful, with sunshine energy. Store is very clean, all customers left with a happy stomach. Can't wait to go back again😋

Originally owned by the Yin family, and later re-established under new management, Yin's has been a staple in Waterford for many years. I have forever found Yins to have a great quality of food, generally quick service, and fair prices. Yin's has been a personal favourite since I moved to Waterford in 1997, but has had a long standing relationship with my entire family since opening in 1971. Delicious Chinese food every time, but surprisingly we love their Canadian menu too. The French fries and gravy have been a forever favourite of my entire family, except for the one time they changed ingredients. I recall stories of my mom bringing fries and gravy back to British Columbia just so my sister could enjoy them again. I strongly recommend giving Yin's a try if you are ever in town for either of their cuisines. Update: Dec 2023 - Still lovely and delicious food, unfortunately been slacking a bit in the service department lately. Came in for a meal, usually get seated right away, had to wait about 5 minutes before anyone knew we were even there. Then we also watched two other couples leave while we were seated due to the same issue.

I ordered the family dinner for 6. With a shrimp egg Foo Yung. The food was far from fresh. Horrible. And you would think when you order the dinner for 6 ppl. They would use larger containers. They should be ashamed of them selves. Embarrassing

Large portions but very bland. Not even similar to the original Yins. I won't go back. Very disappointed. Lemon chicken had no taste or smell of lemon but the sauce was yellow.

Yin's has been there for 52 years and although not still owned by Tony & May, the food is consistently good and staff congenial and provide good service. We will go back if in the area again.

I wasn't expecting much from a Chinese restaurant in Waterford. I knew it wouldn't be authentic, I just expected it to be your run of the mill nasty Canadianized "Chinese" food, but I was wrong. I ordered their 4 dish lunch combo for $15. Check out the picture. First of all it's all mixed together in one container. What I ordered was chow mein with crispy noodles, General Tso chicken, sweet and sour spare ribs, and lemon chicken. I'm guessing that the chicken sitting on top of the yellowish sauce is the lemon chicken. It's bumped up against the ribs so the sauce was all mixed together. The ribs were all mixed up the the nasty chow mein with no crispy noodles. And I'm guessing the undressed chicken on the right is the General Tso, but there is no sauce and the undersides were soggy from sitting on the chow mein soup. I should have known better than to try Chinese food in Waterford. I might have given them 2 stars of they had got the order right and packaged the items separately. I cant give them a 0 so they get 1 star.

Stopped by Yin's tonight and the stop was so worth it .... Egg roll recipe is out of world... Seriously!! Bravo to the house cook....prep cooks ! The service was also fantastic.. chicken chow main dish ,is delicious .. mmmm .
