This hotel is about a 3-minute walk to the Hawaii Convention Center. Upon first arriving, it looks a bit run down. The rooms are bare bones but fully functional. When I first checked in the lights in my room did not work. The desk clerk immediately put maintenance on it the next morning. (I had checked in late in the evening.) The place is clean, everything in the bathroom works well, and the bed is comfortable. The staff is friendly and efficient. There is a comfortable outdoor patio for relaxing, reading, etc. Be aware that there is no air conditioning, so you have to keep the windows open, and there is a LOT of street noise, especially motorcycles. My room faced Atkinson Ave with its tall buildings, which I think concentrated the noise. Possibly a room facing the back of the building could be quieter. The other residents are mostly old, somewhat disabled, or down and out, but they are all friendly. The YMCA does a criminal and sex registry background check when you make the reservation. The building is secure, and smoking and alcohol possession are prohibited. Across the street is the large Ala Moana shopping center with food courts, shops, and major stores, including a Target. Overall, the YMCA residences is a safe, comfortable, and inexpensive place to stay.

This place shouldn't be looked at as an average hotel. This is history. This is the community. People who work here are very nice and strive to keep it going. Yes - rooms are old. But come on - this is probably the cheapest accommodation in the center of Honolulu. I'm giving five stars for the effort of the workers. From the tourist perspective - it was good for an overnight layover stay. Wouldn't stay for lengthy periods.

Don’t go there, never ever. It was a shared restroom but they never mentioned in the website. Then i spend extra money to get a room with “private” restroom. It was that much private that even there were no curtain between the restroom and your room. No air conditioning. Bad smell all over the hotel. Never ever go there

The studio is haunted you experience a lot of ghosts there's a lot of possessed people there too at night time you're here a lot of screaming and banging on the doors and the curtains go back and forth without no win if you like ghosts I recommend this otherwise you should find a safer place to stay

Absolutely horrid place, horrible staff, horrible management, horrid place to stay. Bathrooms have mold, the place is falling apart, the staff treat you as if you’re staying at a homeless shelter. When bringing up issues to management they do absolutely nothing and brush things off. I would give this place negative 10 stars if I could. I will be reaching out to senior authority the directors head for an explanation on the conditions and the employees that work here. Save your money and go anywhere else. Staying at this high priced psych ward/ homeless shelter is not worth your energy or money! STAY AWAY

The room was so dirty I canceled the reservation on the spot and lost my money. The pictures in the ads are totally opposite from reality. Carpet and room diry, no AC. I do not suggest anyone stay there.

I originally booked the hotel from 09OCT24-14OCT24. When I arrived at the hotel the evening of 09OCT24 at approximately 2200 and I arrived to my room, the one thing I noticed was that there wasn’t a bathroom in the bedroom. I went downstairs and spoke to someone at the front desk, and was informed that there were shared bathrooms in the hallway. The advertisement on the Orbitz app when I originally registered for the hotel did not mentioned anything about a shared bathroom. Because I already paid fully for the room for 5 nights, I decided to stick it through. On 10OCT24 at approximately 1200, I went into the shared bathroom. When I walked to the showers, I notified the showers were absolutely filthy. There’s mold on the floor, showers smell terrible, the tiles look dusty, and there was a random piece of soap on the floor. I was not going to take a shower. I called Orbitz customer service informed them about how their ad did not mention anything about shared bathrooms and the showers were filthy. I was informed that I was going to get refund. I registered to stay at different hotel that evening until 14OCT24. I informed management about the issue and they told me that they would not provide me a refund after I told them about the issue. To make a long story short I was not issued a refund. I highly do not recommend staying at this hotel. They stole my money. The place is an absolute mess. Orbitz needs to do a better job providing a description about the hotel for customers.
