What can I say. Before now, I have always been intimidated at the thought of doing yoga. Being active doesn't mean being flexible in my book. Everytime I've tried to get into yoga before, the instructor moved to fast and I'd give up feeling embarrassed for even trying.
That was not the case when I decided to sign up for Floating Yoga last week with Mary and Heather on the Carlsbad Lagoon. This was a double 1st for me, my first time on a paddle board meant there was no way I could escape completing my 1st full yoga class (unless I decided to swim back to shore).
Mary was incredible, and eased me into the process with a mindful meditation that slowly transitioned into yoga instructions that pushed the boundaries of my typical comfort level. The next thing I knew, I was posing in positions I'd never imagined my body was capable of... Let alone while balancing on a paddle board.
This not only built confidence in my ability to continue doing yoga again, but also left me impressed with myself for not falling off the paddle board.
I also walked away with a great endorphin rush from the meditation and yoga flexing. In the end - I was left with two new strengths and desires. One, to do more yoga. And two, to get on a paddle board again.
Thank you Mary and Heather, you've tranformed a newfound yogi!
