Yokai Izakaya

We celebrated our daughter's birthday at this restaurant and arrived a bit earlier than our reservation, but they seated us right away. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the staff were incredibly attentive. What really surprised us was the food—although it was Japanese, everything was unique and unlike anything we've had before. It was absolutely amazing, fresh, and so delicious that we couldn't stop ourselves from eating! For my daughter’s birthday, they treated her to a cheesecake with sparklers and even sang the birthday song. The dessert was simply out of this world. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend this place!

Went here for Valentines brunch. The food was tasty. I really loved the cereal on the French toast as it gave it extra texture that was very enjoyable. The coffee was smooth, and it did not need sugar. I also had the matcha latte and that was refreshing. Would go again.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at this restaurant, and it was an amazing experience! The service was outstanding, the atmosphere was incredible, and the music was perfectly chosen. The staff was attentive and welcoming, and the food was absolutely exceptional – everything was delicious. Sorry for the lack of pictures – it was so good, we couldn’t stop eating! Highly recommended!

Amazing customer experience. The food and cocktail offerings were spectacular. Some cool photos attached, but they don’t do enough justice. By far the service was over the top and memorable. Nina, our server was on point. Her smiling face, great attitude and spot on recommendations. We definitely will be returning customers. Thank you Nina!

This Izakaya is my go-to spot whenever I’m in Vaughan, whether it’s for a date or a group gathering with friends. The location is convenient, the food is fantastic, the vibes are cool, and the staff is always amazing. We booked a table for 5 on a busy Sunday night but showed up with an extra 4 people. Despite the crowd, they went out of their way to accommodate us, which was really impressive. To top it off, they surprised two of my birthday friends with complimentary desserts without us even asking! Big thanks to Chris and the whole team for making our night so great, as always!

Great izakaya! We went for a Saturday dinner. While it was busy, we were able to find seating at the bar. Service was good. we sampled a variety of dishes..All were executed well! Also some interesting sake options available hot or cold. Sampled a couple of different sake bottles. Value for money is also good compared to other izakayas. Reservations highly recommended as it does get busy.

WOAH! be prepared to be blown away by the incredibly vibrant flavours of each unique dish. But first, let's talk about the entrance and decor. Wow wow wow! From the moment we entered Yokai Izakaya it felt like we were stepping into a magical new dimension. The massive, grand wooden door and the kind staff that greeted us when we entered was a very warm welcome. We settled in at the bar, and decided what to order which was the most difficult thing about our visit. Each dish was more mouth watering than the last. Chef Rob is very intentional with each ingredient flavour, and placement. We started off with the freshest scallop in a delightful salsa Verde, then with the corn croquettes- absolutely delish, followed by a daikon and cabbage pickled salad which was the most flavourful thing to ever touch my palate in this life!!! This dish was hard to beat. We also tried crispy brussel sprouts, wagyu sliders, fried pork with a special sesame sauce. We finished off with strawberry matcha date pudding tart. I also recommend the elderberry iced tea! Must note that you should visit the washrooms, each one is different and interestingly designed with lights, cool fixtures, funky sinks etc. Definitely worth a peek. We can't wait to go back and i would recommend this place a million times over!!!

Fantastic Japanese restaurant! All the small plates are really good! The atmosphere is very nice too! Friendly staff. They bring you a nice cheesecake dessert on your birthday. 😃 Highly recommend!
