Excellent food, great service, and relaxing atmosphere! We came with two kids (elementary and middle school) and two adults and ordered a range of foods, from pancakes, to omelettes, and everything was excellent! They took the youngest's order first and made sure to get the food out fast, which they did, and they really loved the "s'mores" pancakes! The egg dishes were very tasty and perfectly cooked, including the side of poached eggs (all good signs that they really have the fundamentals in the kitchen working well)! Will absolutely visit again!

After seeing Yolk being highly recommended on Reddit, we visited on a Friday morning and had about a 15-minute wait, which wasn’t too bad considering that they were completely full. The staff was running around like crazy, trying to keep up with the demand, but they handled it pretty well. Though it took a while, granted they were packed, the food was worth the wait. The cinnamon roll was absolutely massive. We also tried a cortado, a latte, an omelet, pancakes, and the chicken and waffles. Everything was tasty. The omelet was fluffy and was LOADED with the veggies and meat I added to it. The chicken and waffles hit the spot. The pancakes were good, but a bit on the thin and dry side. One thing to note, though—the place was really loud. It felt like the noise from the crowd bounced around a lot. Adding some sound-absorbing features would probably help a lot. Overall, a good breakfast experience, just be prepared for a possible lively (and loud) morning.

Probably one of the worst places to have breakfast. Their fancied pancakes was nothing but a lump of flour. Over easy eggs that I ordered was nothing up to the mark. The eggs didn’t look fresh; probably been sitting there for ages or some low quality commercial grade ones. Same about the sausages too. Hash browns left a bitter oil taste in the mouth. Appears they have been reusing the oil for days. Am not gonna walk into Yolk again ever. I would rather die of hunger! Portions are generous though..

Google
It was an overall decent experience. The food was good, but did take a while to get our order. The cups are small (shown in picture). The French toast was good: the berries were good.

Yolk is a middle-sized breakfast restaurant in downtown Chicago. The food is freshly prepared and tastes well, a little on the spicy side which is great. Coffee is mediocre, the sweet options delicious. Prices are moderate, service is friendly and helpful.

Google
The California omelette was delicious! Pro tip: add cheese grits and a side of French toast for a sweet ending! The restaurant was clean and the cappuccino was YUM! Recommend Marco T. For great service!

Adorable restaurant. Super clean. Staff was superfriendly and quick. The food was well priced and delicious. I got the eggs benedicts and the cinnamon roll latte. As well as a chai tea latte to go. All delicious and highly recommended!

Breakfast here was delicious! We ate here several times and each time the food came out very good. I had the biscuits and gravy with two eggs on top. The sides were different as the first time I got red potatoes (delicious) and the second was cheesy grits (again delicious). The biscuits were like home made with a little body to them. The sawdust gravy with sausage was not overly salty and was just the right amount for the biscuits. My coworker got a dish, which I don’t remember now and it was very good. You might have to just show the photo to figure out what it was. Apologies. ;) The service was great both times and the staff were all very friendly. The place appears to be clean and the atmosphere is casual. I would say by visiting twice in a week, the place was good and a place to recommend.

Yelp
The service was great! Very attentive . Easy environment with average noise. Sometimes the food feels rushed. The Yolk hot sauce is not good. They do have Tabasco available. The skillet was ok, the seasoning on potatoes was a bit off. Both all star meals were good. The upgrades were just ok, they weren't overly sweet but need some extra flavor. Maybe a bit of an off day.

Yelp
While this was my first time at the South Loop location, I've always viewed Yolk as a nice reliable downtown Chicago institution. And that was more or less true here. Big mostly breakfast oriented menu, and they got us into a booth within minutes when the more famous diner around the corner was running at least a 20 minute wait with a crowded waiting area. Now the service was quite slow, and my buffalo chicken salad was only serviceable -- ice cold lettuce, lukewarm buffalo chicken-- but my children loved their array of pancakes, chicken, and mac and cheese I've done far on adult food at worse at other downtown diners.

Yelp
The prestigious yolk. I went to Yolk to see what it was all cracked up to be. I ordered the chicken and waffles alongside the west coast crepe. The chicken and waffles had an unique touch with the bacon infused in the waffle. This was the extra memorable spark. This dish was a good mixture of sweet with savory. The west coast crepe was interesting because it had a hint of sweet with the crepe, but all the insides were savory. It was delightful. The vibe of the place was amazing with lots of counter seats with tables and booths. Service was quick and attentive. However, I would say it was missing just a little extra to make it a 5 star. I would even say it's a 4.5 rounded down. I can't put my finger on it, but I will definitely recommend coming here and enjoying the yummy yolk.

Yelp
Definitely coming back to NYC with Yolk on my mind--wishing we had one in my city too! The vibes here are top-tier, from the super friendly service to the wide variety of delicious dishes. I had the country skillet, Nutella crepes, and a gingerbread cold brew, and wow... I was full and satisfied all day, still daydreaming about how good everything was. Plus, our waiter was the sweetest, and the city views were a bonus. If you haven't tried Yolk yet, you need to!

Yelp
Cute place for a traditional American breakfast. We tried the corned beef hash & eggs and the kale and cauliflower scrambler. Quality is good, and both came with pancakes as well. The serving size is very generous here. We were completely stuffed and had some for leftovers.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped in for breakfast on our way to the Bears game. Our waitress was happy, attentive and pleasant. She kept my coffee cup filled. Food was brought out hot and fast, and the restaurant was busy. I ordered the Y.T.K sandwich which was fantastic. So glad they brought it back. The sausage on the sandwich is the star! I got a side of cheese grits which did not disappoint. My wife got a veggie crepe, which was pretty bland. I mean, it was all veggies so what do you expect? The only complaint is the place is really loud when it's full. The serve Pepsi products.

Yelp
Visit for breakfast on one of the coldest days this month! Walk in no wait at 1130am on a Thursday morning. Immediately seated. Went with the BLTSMA Wheat toast, applewood smoked 'Bacon', 'Lettuce', 'Tomato', 'Swiss', 'Mayo', smashed 'Avocado' can have with Fries, onion chips, fresh fruit or coleslaw. I had fries. It was pretty good and filling. A lot bread after a while I just open it and ate the inside. Service was basic, check-in not overly in your face. Enjoyed our meal and headed out. Yolk is a go too for good breakfast in South Loop for moderate breakfast prices.

Yelp
The wait wasn't too bad. This was our first stop in Chicago after we checked into our hotel. The was okay, not my favorite. I loved my lavender latte though! It looks like a diner style restaurant, no frills.
google avatar

Yelp
Walking in at 10, they were surprisingly empty but we got seated immediately, which was nice. They started us with water and drinks, but we were surprised by the size of an orange juice for $3. On the other hand, a matcha latte was $4.75 -- much more worth it (& I added blueberry syrup)! The California Omelet was as you'd expect, and the Chicken or the Egg Sandwich was a bit on the dry side. Both still tasty, just fell a bit short of what I was expecting. I think the biggest disappointment was the potatoes. Although flavorful, it lacked a crunch or crispiness to it & instead was almost stale ?? Overall, it's a cozy and very welcoming atmosphere. We were just expecting a bit more from the food.

Yelp
Food: * I had the protein and eggs// over medium eggs with turkey sausage, and fresh berries ($1.50 up charge to replace the potato). My eggs were barely warm. The sausage links were good, the berries were sweet and absolutely fantastic! *Others in my group ordered: **Eggs Benedict, the sauce was bland and the English muffin was barely toasted. The Ironman Omelet was said to be good. ***fresh brewed iced tea was refreshing and they have amazing ice!! **They also have a signature hot sauce that we all enjoyed. The Ambience was a typical breakfast style restaurant, however, it was really loud. Service was friendly and quick!

Yelp
Definitely not my favorite brunch place, nothing really stands out for me here. But you can get your standard brunch fare, just not as flavorful as other places in the area.
google avatar

Gauri S.

Yelp
Good food and big portions! Very satisfied with the service as well. As it was a weekend the place was packed but they managed to do a great job!
google avatar

Yelp
We've been here twice and both times had great service. It has a busy diner feel but is also clean and pleasant. I got the California omelet with cheese grits and they were both very delicious!

Yelp
This place is a good breakfast location. Such a good variety of breakfast items. I myself got the potato pancakes. They were good but needed a bit more seasoning. Otherwise they hit the spot.

Yelp
I haven't been here in a while . Second time there . Cute little place . The food was great and a lot of. I couldn't actually finish it but will definitely come back . My server was nice and I sat at the bar and was offered water . I order the savory crepe and it came with potatoes . Potatoes were great and well seasoned . I had the west coast crepe . It was yummy and yes I like mayonnaise with my potatoes . Def try it again

Yelp
Super yummy food but the wait was a bit long. Our server was great and she kept our cups full until our food came.

Yelp
Love love coming her for breakfast after and long workout and walk so I was hungry! This location is typically always bust but when we went it was empty. Yal these cheese grits are the !!! I got the protein pancake as a side since it was the pancake of the month. I had leftovers that I was able to finish off later. I would love to go back a try a different pancake.
google avatar

Yelp
Yummy breakfast hashes, yummy chai, I've liked everything I've gotten, super extensive brunch/breakfast menu. Just a little price-y for a "build your own hash," in my opinion, but a solid choice and reliable.
google avatar

Brianna L.

Yelp
Had a craving for pancakes and Yolk was able to satisfy. Came on a Friday afternoon and was seated promptly. Had the lemon blueberry cakes which are just the right level of sweetness to where you don't need syrup but it isn't painfully sweet if you do add syrup. My friend had The Works omelet which appeared super filling and delicious. The lemonade looked quite refreshing. The restaurant was clean and neat.

Yelp
I am here in town for business I walked down the street from the hotel. I was seated immediately at the bar. Absolutely, awesome! I got to check out the different plates before ordering . The presentation was remarkable . The host was kind and friendly. She greeted me with a smile. I'm a southern girl so that was nice. My waiter was attentive and courteous. The food came out quick . This was a win !

Yelp
I went here the day of my boyfriend's birthday for breakfast and when we arrive we were greeted and we were able to sit. This was our first time coming here even though we have one here in Miami we decided to try this location. Both ordered the works omelette with a side of grits and cheesecake pancakes. The omelette was very good and it was full of meat. The grits were good as well. They just needed a little salt and pepper. The pancakes I feel like the syrup helped it a lot because they are not full of sugar and I'm guessing the cheese frosting that they put on it to give it. The cheesecake flavor was not sweet at all and it was OK. I will go back there, but I will have to try a different pancake flavor or maybe even waffles or French toast

Yelp
Hearty delicious breakfast to start the day with. On an NFL Sunday with the Bears in town, it was already crowded right after it opened. But, we still got in quickly and they were working hard to turnover the tables promplty. The skillets were the perfect hearty breakfast for a crisp fall day. The staff came around frequently to top drinks off, etc. Great food, great service; just all around great.

Yelp
A simple diner but good honest "chow" including a Greek themed skillet with gyros and eggs ?! Next door to a Travelodge but a good breakfast option with friendly service and good prices.

Yelp
It was our last day in Chicago, so we decided to stop here for breakfast. Everything was delicious! Plating was gorgeous, our waitress was sweet as pie and the food came out so quick! It's modern and has a city view if you sit by the window. We devoured our food! And we were so full when we left. They give you great portions and it's wallet friendly!
google avatar

Yelp
A cute place! The restaurant had an inviting atmosphere and was clean. The food portions were huge. Price was reasonable! I had their West Coast Crepes with cheesy grits. I LOVED THEIR CHEESY GRITS. I would definitely get it again. Their West Coast crepes were delectable. It tasted yummy with their Yolk habanero hot sauce! I found their signature hot sauce to be more vinegary. I liked their habanero hot sauce more. My waitress was so sweet and attentive. She kept an eye on my coffee and made sure it was filled. I will definitely be back to try other foods!

Yelp
First breakfast/brunch spot during my 4 day trip to Chicago! I wish Yelp allowed .5 stars cause this place would be a 3.5 for me. Maybe even a 3.75 cause it's better than 3.5 but not quite a 4 for me food-wise. But still a solid spot to start your day. Food: Now I will begin by saying that the food is not bad at all; it just wasn't spectacular or blew me away in any way. My gf and I shared the corned beef & hash, the chicken or the egg sandwich, and the lemon blueberry pancakes and everything was totally fine. You will definitely get full but just had way better versions at other places. Service: Now the waitress and staff we talked to were great! Got seated right away on a busy Friday morning and our waitress was kind and attentive despite it being pretty busy. Ambiance: Very bright interior with a ton of space/seating. Deceptively long place cause it doesn't look like it'd be so big from the outside. Saw many large groups but you will be very close to other tables no matter what so keep that in mind if that bothers you. Water: Always appreciate a customized bottle of water for the table that shows the restaurant's logo. Water was good and they gave a new bottle well before we were completely out.

Yelp
Bring back my west coast crepe. Loved this place but my favorite dish is gone and several things have been removed from the menu!
google avatar

Yelp
Strawberry cheesecake pancakes - 3.5/5. A nice white icing with heaping graham cracker but not quite elevated enough. Nutella crepe - 2/5. Didn't like it a few years ago and thought to try again. Sadly, no improvement. Great breakfast spot but don't get crepes here. Breakfast bagel sandwich - 3.5. Solid and effective. Nothing special, but a good option for savory.

Yelp
My partner and I were visiting from Tampa, Florida. The food wasn't anything I couldn't find in Tampa but it was good. He ordered the 'Very Berry French Toast' and I ordered a side of rye toast with side of avocado and a side of two eggs. He ordered coffee with milk and me, a chai latte. The waitress was not overly friendly, she seemed slightly annoyed when I asked if they had sourdough bread and she only checked on us once. Then my partner tried to stop her for the check and she turned around and said 'Yeah, I know the check' and kept going. I probably wouldn't go back, I thought it was 'ok'.

Yelp
Food was great. Got the south border Benedict which came with potatoes and had to bring it home. I enjoyed their chili a whole lot. Customer service was awesome with always checking in and being attentive. They were so sweet in celebrating my gf's bday with a French crepe! Would love to come here again!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing- so good. Had the crepes (west coast crepes? California crepes?) and they were amazing. Nice mix of savory with a hint of sweet. Cool waitress gave great recommendation. Servings are HUGE and food comes fast. Plenty of tables, nice atmosphere.

Yelp
The service was great and our waitress was super friendly and attentive. I liked her nails and earrings, super cute! The place was very busy for Saturday, we waited 45 minutes. The interior was warm and calming. Warm yellow and blue, my favorite! Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup (w. Oat milk & iced) If you drink the iced drink, you'll get chunks of peanut butter at the bottom. The drink was not too sweet but was lacking on the chocolate flavor. It would have been best to take the peanut butter while the espresso is hot and whisky it, then mix it in with the milk. This drink, I would not get again. I tried the Banana Foster Latte, it was very good. I'd like to try that next time. Croque Madam It was savory & well prepared. Ive never had ham and swiss cheese on French toast. The cheesy grits were amazing and so cheesy, so if you like cheese, I'd recommend. Plain French Toast Pretty good, regular average French toast sprinkled with powdered sugar.

Yelp
I was looking for a good brunch spot as we needed to head back LA the same day. We needed to get something hefty before leaving. I am glad to have found this place because I did like the food I ordered. I had the hashed brown, corned beef, and scrambled eggs plate (Combo) and Nutella crepe plus the South African hot coffee. The crepe was soft and the meal was good. The potatoes are not too dry and not overcooked. It's a simple brunch dish but was prepared well. Heather was our server and she was a delight! Service is fast and the rest of the staff are accommodating. Ambiance is okay.

Greenroom S.

Yelp
They make the best latte in the South Loop. I order 1 or 2 almost 7 days a week. I probably need to invest in a Latte machine. Any suggestions?

Yelp
Great experience at Yolk which was right down the street from our hotel (The Blackstone). Service by Sonia (Svenja) was awesome. Came over with a smile and always showed up to fill our coffee. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her egg white omelette that had; green peppers, red peppers, caramelized onions, spinach & goat cheese. Her omelette came with pancakes or cheesy grits which she selected and loved. I had eggs Benedict which I liked... not loved. Definitely a breakfast place we are going to next time we are in Chicago. Oh by the way.... Breakfast came out so fast. 4 stars!!
google avatar

Yelp
Service was great! First time at this location. Our server was the sweetest!! Her name was Leslie. The food was spectacular. Love the feel in Yolk's locations. Warm and cozy. Next time in the area I will make my way to Yolk.

Yelp
Came here for breakfast during our Chicago trip as it was right by our hotel. We came in and it wasn't too busy and we got seated right away. I ordered the chicken and waffles and a chai tea latte. The first sip of that latte and I was immediately in love! The flavor was light and perfectly sweet. Id never had chicken and waffles before so I was nervous to try something new. I tend to stick to what I know but in the spirit of my vacation I thought I'd try something different. The chicken was so juicy and flavorful. The waffles were fluffy yet crispy and the bacon in them was an extra treat! Probably my favorite dish I had my whole trip! Overall the restaurant was very clean and staff were super friendly and quick! The place wasn't all that busy when we came in so not a lot of noise and the music wasn't too loud or overwhelming. I plan to be back next time I'm in the city.

Yelp
The ambiance is upscale for a bkft plsve; food choices are numerous & all are ecceptional (they have GF toast but chg extra if you substitute for the pancake, so I've not tried either). The scrambled & omelets are really filling. Love the option of cheesy grits instead of potatoes. Exceptional service!
google avatar

Leah S.

Yelp
It's hard to get breakfast delivered, but Yolk managed to provide hot, delicious and correctly prepared food despite delivery. Love that their full menu is available to go. They offer pancake sides, even if they're monthly specials which is so great if you just want to sample. Everything was very tasty. Uber Eats even had buy one get one free specials. I would definitely visit this location to try other menu items.

Yelp
"I had an amazing dining experience last night! The ambiance was cozy and intimate, the service was top-notch, and the food was absolutely delicious! Thank you

Yelp
Alright, I've been to yolk in the past but my most recent visit was just ok. We came early on Sunday (like around 9AM) and were seated promptly. I got the turkey burger, which tasted pretty good but not great. My friend had gotten some potatoes with her eggs benedict, but they were undercooked. The star of the show was the banana nut french toast.
google avatar

Kristopher C.

Yelp
I visited Yolk twice for breakfast on my visit to Chicago, and both times enjoyed a hearty, filling and yummy meal to get fueled up for the day. Both times the servers were prompt to greet me and take my order. The food arrived quickly and prepared well. The interior is fairly large so even when they are busy there was space without feeling crowded.
google avatar

Melissia M.

Yelp
The service and food was great, this place is pretty busy and depending on the time you go, there's typically a wait. We were seated fairly quickly at the bar counter where you can see all the kitchen action. I'm not sure if this is a good idea though, I mean if I want to see all the happenings while prepping my food. I guess the only questionable thing was one of the expediters climbing on a food prep area to reach plates. I thought well I guess the food is on a plate & not touching the area she was climbing on...until a piece of bacon fell off the plate and she grabbed it without gloves (I consider your hands dirty after touching multiple surfaces & objects) and put it back on the plate. 10 second rule right!?! I would just add that I witnessed the team working as a whole & very organized in all the crazy chaos.
google avatar

Eric D. S.

Yelp
This was a great breakfast stop, with more seating that you'd ever need so never had to wait. Food is solid with a great array of choices. Americana at its finest with diner breakfast experience in the heart of Chicago. Highlights were the eggs Benedict and French toast as pictured. Great service and perfect ambiance to start any day.

Brian M.

Yelp
Best Avocado toast I've ever had. The salmon and capers added a nice touch of saltiness. The tomatoes were perfectly ripe. Friendly staff. Very quick service.

Yelp
The food was good and the text message queue was cool. I wish there was a little more space to walk around inside between the tables.

Yelp
Now this ladies and gents, is how you do breakfast. This was the first meal that I had while in Chicago, and it set the bar pretty high for all else to follow. It was pouring rain when I arrived and I couldn't wait to get inside to get warm and dry. As soon as I entered the spot, the staff greeted me with smiles. I was sat right away in a comfortable booth with a nice view of the interior of the restaurant. It was still fairly early so the place wasn't too packed. I love how warm and cozy this place feels. A bit of a rustic feel with a bright color scheme and open and airy atmosphere. Just about everything on their menu sounded delicious. This place is known for their sweet breakfast plates, but I was in the mood for something savory. I ordered the chilaquiles verdes with chorizo and a seasonal Caramel Apple Chai-der and both were extremely tasty. The Caramel Apple Chai-der was unique and had a beautiful apple aroma. It was the perfect blend of chai tea and apple cider. It definitely warmed me right up on that cold and rainy day. The chilaquiles were scrumptious! They were topped with over easy eggs and served with fresh avocado slices and crema sauce. The chorizo was well spiced and the perfect addition to the plate. Service was wonderful from beginning to end. Very attentive but not overbearing. All of the staff members were cheery and seemed happy to be there. I left full, happy, and satisfied when I was finished. Such a delicious breakfast. Glad that I chose Yolk as my first Chicago meal because it left a lasting impression on me.

Yelp
I recently went to Yolk in South Loop for brunch, and man was it egg-citing! My friend and I had just moved into the area and we were ready to brunch it up. I ordered the Hey Ricky! Omelet, and this omelet was egg-traordinary. It was a 5-egg omelet with all the fixins - smashed avocado, chorizo, onion, jalapenos, pepper jack, and cheddar. It was so big, it could have fed a family of chickens! It was delicious - a solid 5/5. And to top it off, it came with grits and a whole serving of pancakes on the side. So much food, I was egg-sausted just looking at it. My friend got the Chicken or the Egg Sandwich, which came with cheesy grits. They said it was amazing, giving it a 5/5. The atmosphere was popping and the service was great. We'll definitely be returning to Yolk for more brunches!
