We parked at the camping ground (500 yen) which meant a significant walk along the beach to the safe snorkelling area. Coral Disappointing but good fish life. At mid tide it was challenging to find a passage through the corals and I would recommend going at high tide or reasonably close to that.

Nice beach overall. Low tide isn’t great but the water is very clear and clean. Beach should be cleaned more often as there are some plastics around.

BEST snorkeling I’ve had ever. We went around 4pm in the afternoon in November. Parking lot was closed so we parked st the nearby community center. The water remains very shallow quite far (I could stand), but there were so much seaweed and corals. I saw two sea snakes and a sea turtle!

The best beach for snorkelling. The fishes are immediately visible within few steps into the water. I believe we were during the low tide so most of the corals were almost near the surface of water making it difficult to snorkel over them. But there were variety of fishes and absolutely beautiful corals. The shower and changing room facilities were basic. Parking available for 500 yen whole day. Snorkelling gear, parasols and other items can be rented there. Definitely a must visit to experience the true ocean life of Ishigaki!

Excellent experience swimming with many kinds of tropical fish and coral reefs even near the shore! No wonder many people doing snorkelling there. There is a shop right beside the parking lot where you can rent the snorkelling equipment. Will definitely go there again!!

A very lovely beach for snorkeling, and one of my best experiences, it is recommended to go as early as possible before the water level decreases. Very beautiful and colorful fish can be encountered and seen so closely. There are shops from where you can borrow all the necessary equipments for snorkeling and showers as well.

I only had time to choose 1 beach in Ishigaki and the research paid off. This beach is ideal for snorkeling. I have never seen coral this perfect, so close to the shore. You can wade out to your waist and be surrounded by loads of tropical fish. So much colour and life. I was in there for around 3 hours total in between breaks. The water was very warm, but I found the current strong, so be careful. The highlight was seeing a sea snake. I avoided the jellyfish thankfully. There is a surf shop there with all the gear but I had my own so not sure of the price. They sell cold drinks. I taxi'd from the main town in the South across the whole island to get to Yonehara. That was a beautiful drive. I got flashes of movies of Pacific battles in WWII. This island is as far South as Japan gets, so if you like the tropical feel, include this on your holiday
