33 Deserted Places Around the World

"There is a small abandoned theme park in Seoul, South Korea, with a quieted carousel, bleached-out images of ’80s pop icons, and “dodgem” cars that have long-since quit dodging. But unlike most amusement parks that have gone idle, this one invites the public to share in its slow crumble. Yongma Land was built in 1980, and had a fairly solid run as a small family-oriented amusement park. By 2011 tastes had moved on, and with attendance dwindling it closed down. Despite stories of a haunting or two, the root of its demise was likely just a matter of profit, when the construction of several, much larger and better located, theme parks lured the thrill-seekers away. Now in the hands of an enterprising local businessman, the old Yongma Land is open again, but this time to revel in the poignant charm of its decay. For a small charge of 10,000 won per adult (about $9, a bit more for professionals) and 5,000 won per child, visitors are free to roam the old rides, no fence-jumping needed. And for 30,000 won, the owner will turn on the lights of the ghostly merry-go-round for you after 8:00 pm. The fading colors and jumbled figures have proven attractive for musicians and other artists too, inspiring several K-pop videos (most notably Crayon Pop’s “Bar Bar Bar” video) and other photo shoots. With piles of dodgem (or bumper) cars, a rusting octopus ride, a Viking ship, and a displaced clown-motif roller coaster, there is still plenty of carney magic to inspire even amateur photographers." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

We received some beautiful photos depicted as anime from this artist and we were thrilled by the results! We went to Yongma abandoned theme park and found a QR code of this artist. He created these photos that we will cherish forever. He was very kind, polite, and patient with the process. Thank you 용마랜드 We also really enjoyed taking photos in this park. One of the best experiences we had in Seoul! There is so much preserved magic of the past in this park. So many beautiful vantage points. Being here transports you to another time, and we can't be more grateful that we got to do this. A MUST-DO when you are in Seoul!

This is an abandoned amusement park that you can walk around and climb on the rides. Small place, but an amazing place to kill two or three hours. Tons of people use this are for cosplay pictures. In the evening they'll turn on some of the ride lights. Worth the visit!

Good location for photo. Entrance fee is 10,000 won per person. It's a bit of a journey but I think it's worth it. Meet a nice camera man to help me take a picture 😀

Once an amusement park that featured lot of Americana sryle rides and decorations but now turned into a museum-like themed park for photographers and videographers. I've seen married couples do photo sessions there. There is a 20,000 won for entrance. 10,000 won more for videos. Lot of cool nostalgic rides. Great for kids to roam around in but it feels like it is more for youths who like nostalgia. Highly recommend 👌

It is not easy to reach, but probably worth it for people who like photography, fun horror and a bit of creepiness. It is not a very big, colorful place. Costs 10000 won which is an adequate price for such a ground.

It's a great place for some very unique photo opportunities! It's a little way out of the city centre but worth checking out if you're in the area. People come here for photoshoots and even for special occasion photos If you go on a weekend you'll need to time your photos right to avoid the other visitors. It wasn't super crowded though, even on a Sunday afternoon in March. If not driving, recommend going via Mangu Station. To get there from the station is 20-minute walk, with a steep hill at the end, so taking a taxi from the station is more comfortable.

It was an eerie experience, but it can be quite fun. It is a great place for photos.

Really enjoyed this ! I went at 10 when they opened and I had the whole park for myself :) I didn’t mind paying 10000 KRW as I was able to take many pictures and explore the place at my own pace and more importantly without groups of people taking stupid selfies ! Really recommend it :)
