My sister and I had a nice stay here during October. The rooms were cute and spacious with a nice balcony. It is a great location directly across from Long Sands. Our room was clean. It was off-season, so I can see how this hotel could be incredible during the summer (it looked like there was a pool, firepit and outdoor gathering areas). The front desk was kind enough to leave us our key in a convenient location for pick-up when we checked in after hours. One issue that I did see on other reviews is that doors to the hotel are propped open, which feels unsafe. Although the rooms themselves had locks, we were totally unable to fully close the doors to the hotel (door from the stairwell to the rooms on the second floor). I do want to flag that we were double charged for a room and did not receive much help getting a refund and eventually had to obtain a refund through our credit card company. The hotel was completely unresponsive when we tried to rectify this issue (no calls back, no emails back). The other people we were staying with also were double charged and had not realized it until we told the about our experience. I understand the hotel is for sale/up for auction, so that may be the root of the issue, but the double payment will cause us to avoid staying here again.

The floors were dirty. The bed was clean and very comfortable. We had to call twice to get clean towels and have the garbage removed. They never replaced the garbage bags with new ones. We ran out of toilet paper which was not replaced. The view was great. The room was really not set up for two people. There was one bed and one chair, it was hard to be comfortable on your down time unless you were sleeping. The pool was awesome.

BED BUGS BED BUGS BED BUGS!!! Stayed here for a wedding a couple weeks ago. After my first night sleeping there I started developing bites on my legs that l've never experienced before, I didn't think much of it at first given the different climate of Maine. They were still happening once we got back home and we quickly realized it was bed bugs. Many other weddings guests that stayed here also had the same complaints. Beyond the $4,000+ we've had to spend on treating our house for the bed bugs, being displaced and forced to stay at hotels/airbnb's, and not to mentioned the hit this has taken to our mental health, this place was easily the biggest catfish l've experienced, don't be deceived by their website. The entire place is run by seemingly teenagers who have no idea what they're doing. There wasn't a single drawer or even a hanger in the room for us to put our clothes away, thus forcing us to keep our suitcases/clothes on the floor (which is the main way infestations get carried home). We had to constantly ask the front desk for clean towels. The room was extremely dirty, hair and bugs and dust everywhere. They claimed the rooms only get cleaned every 3 days. There's not even water available to guests. I've tried calling the front desk multiple times to complain and speak to someone and every time it is a very young employee who has no idea how to handle any of this and says a "manager will be in tomorrow." I've left my number with no call backs. Instead, I get a short email denying anything and ignoring my requests for any sort of compensation. I'm not even the type of person that leaves reviews.. like at all, but this has been a nightmare experience from start to finish and it's apparent from these other reviews that it's not a rare issue from them. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL!!!

VILE. Do not stay here. Our room was covered in dog hair. The sheets and beds were covered in dog hair and human hair along with the floors. There was a giant stain on our bed sheets too. We killed probably 20 bugs and we were there for one night. The room had one single towel for a room with 4 people. When we walked in The bed was all wrinkled like someone was sitting on it. There was not a single employee at the entire hotel so we had to go into the employee closet to get our own clean sheets and towels. Will never ever come back here it was so gross

Update: I was very happy that when we were able to speak to the manager, he was extremely supportive and happy to help with all the lacking amenities. I am hopeful that next summer they will be able to fix the WiFi, get the cafe up and running and have the bar at the pool opened. I definitely will be checking back in next summer to see if the amenities are back up and would love to return. First Review: My husband and I found this place last year and it was a blast. We loved it so much we brought both of our families (one of which flew from CA) to enjoy the beautiful New England coast. Sadly none of the amenities were available, no bar at the pool, no cafe, no WiFi, no lounge chairs on the grass, etc. The customer service is severely lacking, and my family was met with rolled eyes and attitude when we had normal requests such as extra towels and blankets. We were still charged full price and there was no communication before arriving that that these amenities were unavailable, and were never told until we asked. It’s extremely disappointing since there are so many other options here and the reason we choose this place was for the amenities.

DO NOT STAY HERE!! my dad booked a bungalow for my mom, sister and I to stay in months before our stay. we were all super excited as we all love york beach. the trip was planned in honor of my dads 50th birthday so we decided to book a bungalow so we could all have our own space and not be crammed in a small hotel room. as we entered the office to get the keys to our bungalow, we noticed that there was no service, i asked the guy working at the desk and he just said “there should be a wifi network” so i opened the wifi and by no surprise at all, it didn’t work. I chose to ignore the whole wifi thing because i was so excited to stay at one of my favorite places, york beach. we went to go get the key and the guy looks at us confused and says that there is no room booked under our name, even though my dad had booked the bungalow months before this. the guy was absolutely no help so we went to the car to try and find a new place to stay because the manager wouldn’t be in untill later and we had to wait. it was a struggle trying to find another place to stay because of the absolutely horrible wifi. we finally decided to go and see if the manager was there because it had been about an hour, we went to the front desk and it was a new person working. apparently the manager wouldn’t be there at all that day and they refused to call her or him. my dad just asked for a refund becuase he already paid for the bungalow and they said they couldn’t do that. they said they could only give us one night for 30% off one night in a NORMAL ROOM which we didn’t even book!! and remember how they said the manager wouldn’t be there that day? that was a big fat lie because the manager was right there hiding from us because they didn’t want to resolve the issue. we decided to stay at a different place which i’m happy about because according to the other reviews i’ve read, the rooms are dirty and not as advertised. overall a horrible experience, bad customer service, employees were rude and not understanding. DONT STAY HERE IM WARNING YOU!!

Google
So I'm giving it 5 stars based on the fact that we stayed here in fall of 2023, and when we were here it was fantastic. We had a wonderful stay. Looking at a lot of the recent negative reviews, I don't know. I just know that it WAS great.

Google
Location is awesome, that’s about all this place has going for it. I would give it 0 stars if I could because our bungalow was dump. I have driven by this hotel many times when I stayed in York. Looked like a fun place, Decided to book a bungalow. Non of the amenities on the the website exist. The restaurant and outside bar is not operational as they don’t have a liquor license. The 2 bedroom bungalow had no seating or a table, just a ripped 2 person couch/chair and a luggage rack. The website talked of outdoor seating areas, grilling stations, and outdoor showers, and cooking utensils at the bungalows none of which existed. We had no wifi in the bungalows despite boasting of the best wifi on the beach. We were repeatedly told it will be fixed tomorrow. We stayed for 4 days and it was never fixed. This normally wouldn’t bother me except you cannot get cell service anywhere on the property. We had to walk to the beach to get text messages or make phone calls. Swim in the pool at your own risk, it was green and cloudy. This was the beginning of August which I find totally unacceptable and disgusting. The confirmation said check in was 3:00. Got there and the clerk argued with my wife that it’s 4:00. The policies agreement that my wife signed at check in said 3:00. The clerk still argued and our room wasn’t ready until after 4. The staff seem like they don’t care and get defensive when you complain. The website is false advertising Save your money go somewhere else.

Yelp
My husband and I loved it. This is not a "be completely pampered place", but if you love quiet, quaint and to be left along this is perfect. A couple of restaurants within walking distance. Rooms don't have closets, coffee makers or phones. But it does have a small refrigerator and a seat with hooks at the entrance. No cable but YouTube and you can sync your phone to the television. Internet is decent. A swing arm on the TV would be helpful as it's hard to watch in bed. We brought our dogs. There is plenty of grass around but bring your own poop bags. Cute updates, pretty surroundings and clean. We will be back.

Yelp
NO WATER! We woke up the morning after our $400/night stay in this dump with our water turned off-- no shower, no sink, no toilet -- and NO ONE to call for assistance. No one at desk, no answering service, no emergency contact. I thought the place would be clean with no frills, but have NEVER stayed in a place with NO WATER before. This is terrible and absurd. Would NEVER stay here again.

Yelp
Reviews for this hotel are a polarized mix, but since some travelers have reported good experiences we booked a $400 ocean view room hoping for a romantic weekend stay. When we arrived at the front desk we were given the key card for room 305, and after carrying our luggage up 3 flights of stairs we discovered the door of the room was ajar, the bed looked lumpy as if someone had been sitting on it. The balcony door faced another building and offered a sliver view of the ocean, but the screen had completely fallen out of the track. We headed back down to the front desk and the clerk who had checked us in rolled his eyes as if he knew what we were going to say. We asked why the door was ajar and were told that it was a known problem, and that we could deadbolt the door from the inside but the card key lock for that room wasn't working, and there'd be no way to lock the room while were weren't in it. That was totally unacceptable to us. The hotel made no attempt to address the situation (possibly because it was a weekend and they were sold out), and the front desk clerk became argumentative. Since no other rooms were available, and the clerk said that since we already checked in at the front desk they wouldn't offer a refund, we cancelled the booking with the credit card company and scrambled to find alternate accommodations. My advice to anyone still thinking about staying here would be to ask to view the assigned room before officially checking in at the front desk, and to have a backup plan in case the booking doesn't meet an appropriate level of hospitality.

Yelp
Would absolutely go back to York Beach Surf Club again. Stopped by after a long work weekend to just relax for a sip of coffee inside their lovely cafe and was greeted by the owner, Taylor, who made me one of the best iced chai lattes I've had in a while. My husband and I kicked back in the cafe and relaxed after a long work weekend. The entire staff was extremely friendly and kind. We also ordered the most delicious wings we have ever had and i when i say I seriously cannot wait to bring some of our photography clients back here I mean it. Thank you so much for allowing us to chill at your cafe and get some work done while chowing down on some epic wings. Also I will say this this space is extremely inclusive and have all gender bathrooms which we really loved to see y'all rock !

Yelp
How should I start?? The bungalow that we rented $2,000 for 4 days was definitely not the one that you see in the pictures!! There were no hanger, luggage racks, we lost the Internet and TV reception after the first day! when we were try to get staff would often disappear! There was not an air conditioner, one of the bedrooms, bathroom was so tiny that it was hard to turn around! The floor was filthy.. porch has a board that was sticking up.. when I mentioned it to the GM she said maybe we could put a rug over it! But they did come over and screw it down. Very disappointed about the Internet and the television we're planning a tv night with the kids. We had no phone service

Yelp
Renters Beware: No amenities that are mentioned on the website are available on property for 2024 season as stated on website: https://www.yorkbeachsurfclub.com. They advertise: FAST and FREE Wi-Fi (Best on the Beach) - THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WiFi nor Cell service in the Bungalow area. Good Luck using the Television or working from "HOME" during your stay. It's 2024 get your act together YORK BEACH SURF CLUB! We booked our vacation at the beginning of the year (2024). As frequent visitors of York, ME we would drive by this hotel and it looked great! Checked out the website and liked what we saw so we booked. Fast forward to August 2024 (Our Vacation) Arrived on property and entered the Management Office, we were ignored for approximately 5 mins. No greeting nothing... We we tried to check-in we weretold that we couldn't check-in until 4pm when our emailed confirmation/reservation states check-in is at 3pm. (Slight annoyance about the check-in time but extremely disappointed in the lack of customer service). At check-in we were not told anything about the lack of amenties no longer available nor an apology or acknowledgement. We had to learn this from are initial view of the property and also speaking with other guest. Finally entered our Bungalow. Disappointed to say the least! Furnisings in the our Bungalow inlcuded a ripped couch, a luggage bench and two beds up against three of the 4 bedroom walls. Couldn't walk around the bedroom. If you have any type of limitations physically there are no accomodations. You can't walk around the bed and need to crawl over your partner to get out of the bed. The pictures on the website do state that room design may vary but to to have no furnishing for people to sit and eat in a place with a kitchen is terrible. We used our beach chairs to sit in our room and there is no seating available near or around your bungalow as it's stated. Saw no grilling stations. In the bungalows there were limited items noted as cooking utensils. If you plan on booking make sure you BYOK (Bring your own kitchen supplies). Upon booking we noted the amount of guests that were with us and there were not enought towels to accomodate everyone. When asking for more supplies we were met with hesitation and rudeness. (Towels, ICE, cleaning supplies). As for the POOL swim at your own risk. The pool was a nasty green color and very cloudy. There is no restaurant or bar and it's convenient that the website was recently updated to note this but they didn't reach out to their Renters to let them know that none of these features are available this season. Customer Service was lacking on this property and the employee don't seem to care. They all have different stories as to why amenities are not available and you are given excuses or I don't know when you ask questions. Good Luck! Overall this hotel was an extreme let down and I feel like we were scammed. This is the FYRE FESTIVAL of HOTELS! Nothing but Smoke and Mirrors. RENTERS BEWARE.

Yelp
This place is deceiving. What is shown online is not entirely the same when you visit in person. We stayed here for 4 days and 3 nights. First off, I do want to say that the employees are very nice and accommodating. Not a rude person in sight. Anyways, we got placed on the 3rd floor of the main building, we both had our backpacks, 2 duffle bags, and one big luggage and we had to haul all of it up two flights of stairs because there are no elevators. Our room was nice and simple, although there was no dresser or a closet. There was only a coat rack with a shoe bench that you would see in someone's mud room or entrance area of their house. Thank God we had hangers for our wardrobe for the wedding we were attending otherwise we would've had to lay our things out on the bed with us. We just left our luggage open because there were no drawers to put anything in. I specifically did not bring my steamer because I thought that we'd have our own iron as most hotels have them in each room. This place does not have irons in their rooms nor do they have any on site! They had to go borrow one from another hotel. Crazy! Our bed was a little too soft for our liking, it felt like we were sinking into it. There is no phone in the room, so you have to physically go down to the front desk to ask for anything which is in a separate building from the rooms. Thankfully, I heard some housekeepers in the hallway and was able to snag some extra towels and toilet paper. One of them even said that it was my lucky day because usually they don't have extra linen or towels to give. Like whaaaat?!?! Also our TV was mounted on the side wall (refer to the picture). My only logic is that they had to mount it on the side wall because of the placing of the AC unit but at least mount it with a mount that could extend out and tilt. Our room came equipped with a safe, a nice fridge, & a blow dryer. Also had a good size balcony and a nice little side view of the ocean. There is also an on site pool and cafe. You can tell this place had some renovations done but it still needs some more love.

Yelp
I've stayed here twice - about a year apart (June 2022 and June 2023) and for the most part, it's been a decent experience. I love the location and the onsite staff is really kind, but overall management seems very unhelpful. On my most recent stay is when I experienced some issues. 1) The onsite food situation was a disaster. I ordered a drink and food at the onsite trailer at about 6:45pm. Nearly 30mins later, I still didn't have the drink or food that I paid for upfront. Bartender was kind and said it would be comped off as her mistake. Then, the pizza I ordered and waited almost two hours for after being assured it was coming because the kitchen got overwhelmed NEVER EVER CAME. The bartender apologized profusely and said it would be refunded. It has been almost a month. I have disputed the charge and reached out to the hotel via email 3x and by phone 2x to get my money back and also disputed with my bank and the hotel refuses to make it right. AVOID THEIR ONSITE FOOD OPTIONS. Not worth it. 2) The internet went out right in the middle and there was really no assistance they could provide. Ok, that's fine and the staff there that day was extremely kind and apologetic. The internet was also down during my first stay too, but I didn't really need it. You can't beat the location, but you won't get the food you pay for in advance, that's for sure.

Katheryn B.

Yelp
I arrived at 12pm. I was advised my room would be ready in an hour. I go and check a few hours later and I'm told I still have to wait, they don't want me to go into a dirty room.. I then, check back again at around 5:30pm and was told again, they have to make a room key, it'll Take awhile. They said they would take me to my room while it was being made. I decided to wait. Finally at 630-7 I was able to get my key. I shouldn't have to pay full price for a night when the room wasn't even ready at check in time. I was told it would be ready at 1pm (earlier than check in) but I didn't end up getting into room til much later which is unacceptable. Upon arriving in my room. The sliding glass door is unlocked which doesn't make me feel very safe. There's a hair in the sink from someone. The mini bar is dirty and there's zero water in this room. I would have thought at least one bottle would be provided. Lastly, there's no safety lock on the door, the side table doesn't look like it's been cleaned. When I arrived I was not told about their food, coffee or towels offered at the pool. As a guest I would expect to learn about all of their amenities they offer as normal hotels would do. One of the worst parts of this whole trip!!! During the day and throughout it sounds like stampedes are happening upstairs constantly all throughout the day and during the night too. So much for rest and relaxation. Overall I am displeased and will not be coming back here.

Choolie B.

Yelp
Stayed in late June 2024 in the main hotel. Room seemed brand new. Loved that all of the rooms have a partial ocean view. Front desk was very nice. Free lattes were delicious and very spoily. Loved the pool area - went at 8am and had it basically to ourselves and another couple until families with kids arrived and were having a blast just after 10:00.

Eva T.

Yelp
FALSE ADVERTISING!! "Premier ocean view" room was reserved. Called to verify details of reservation, they said it was in the new building with great ocean view. Upon arrival the room was in the old building, in a basement, facing the parking lot with a bridge obstructing any potential view of anything else. At the request to resolve this the hotel had no available options that even remotely had any view of the ocean and did nothing to rectify this.

Elizabeth W.

Yelp
Had an amazing stay at the York Beach Surf Club! Beautiful property, such a peaceful, eclectic, yet energetic vibe. The Pineapple Cafe food by Chef à amazing! Definitely going to stay again!

Tanya K.

Yelp
We had High Hopes!! We have been watching the remodel over the past couple of years and we were so excited to finally book our stay last weekend for a mother daughter trip! Boy were we surprised! Whoever created the web site did an Amazing job at deceiving us! What happened to our Fido Friendly Ocean View room for $500 plus an additional $75 fee for our dog when your web site clearly states no hidden fees, where were our Luxurious Rooms with bedding/linens to dream about we didn't even have fitted sheets, (we had 1 towel and 3 facecloths for 4 of us), 1 roll of tp for 3 days, where was our seating area, why was our curtain rode falling off the wall, where were we supposed to hang our fancy clothes for hanging out by the fire pits that the staff wouldn't light and then wanted to extinguish before we were done, where was our boogie breakfast delivered to our rooms in the morning, where were the attentive staff, why was the owner more concerned with being the bartender and chatting with friends then catering to his guests, why was the pool chilly, why was there old food left around the pool and even smeared on one of the day beds, why oh no why! This place has amazing potential!! Even though we were incredibly disappointed we did make the best of our stay and bonded with many fellow guests over these issues that we all seemed to be to experiencing! We would like to suggest these improvements be made asap! 1. Retake accurate room pictures. 2. Remove wording on your web site about ocean view. 3. Remove wording on your web site about high end bedding/linens. 4. Move the Tv to a better area or add an extendable arm. 5. Have a phone in the room. 6. Have a Motel information book in the room with area info and menus for the motel and around. 7. Price adjust your rooms accordingly. Fido Friendly room should not be more than $250! 8. Add a sitting area inside the rooms and outside the rooms and on upper balcony of Fido rooms. 9. Have adequate towels, toilet paper and extra bedding/blankets. Have mattress protectors and fitted sheets. 10. Ensure fire pits are going in the evening for guests without asking. 11. Come out to the fire pits in the evening and greet your guests and offer then drink refills and snacks. 12. Ensure the pool area is cleaned regularly. 13. Actually heat the pool. 14. Offer bikes or surf board rentals. 15. Owner take an active role in ensuring the hotel is running up to its potential.

Yelp
Just returned from a quiet season getaway at YBSC and it was a great experience! The property has been recently renovated and is a clean stylish design that offers very comfortable rooms with sleep worthy beds! You can hear the ocean if you stay in an ocean view room. Easy to wake and see the waves rolling in. I'll be back! Make sure you grab a coffee at the coffee bar - these folks know their coffee!

Yelp
When you first arrive at York Beach Surf Club, Taylor Perkins and his hospitality staff welcome you with a friendly greeting and offer you a beverage from the coffee or traditional bar. Immediately your drive and cares melt away. The cozy coastal decor paired with friendly service Is the perfect pairing to starting a vacation. The framed photos and decor pay homage to the cold water cowboys of the sea, the Maine surfers. The rooms and bungalows are all airy, immaculate, bright and beachy. The large showers and the tile selections are all well planned for comfort and easy sanitization. Split unit HVAC make the rooms quiet and comfortable. This is not your typical motor court motel. It's a hybrid of the former familiar establishments you grew up with as child but reimagined for the newer generation of travelers that wants an updated decor and on site food and beverage. Vending machines crammed in nooks and crannies will not suffice. The resort has nostalgic charm with a modern perspective. The enormous hearted pool is the vibrant epicenter during the day with a fully staffed pool bar. Alexis or Tony will make the perfect cocktail tailored to your palate. For the afternoon and sunset, the pool crowd migrated to the front of the property where fire pits, and overhead lighting strings are joined with local music and the vintage bar van, the white pearl for cocktails and appetizers while taking in the sunset The food service is familiar with a creative twist. Breakfast think sourdough blueberry pancakes or avocado toast with homemade tomato jam. For lunch or dinner, the menu is the same except for the revolving daily features. The lobster sliders are unbelievably good with just a hint of mayonnaise, allowing the lobster meat, lettuce and bread combination to speak for itself. Everything is from scratch, including the croissants that are baked on site. There are so many employees to thank for my outstanding stay, Gary, Will, Samantha, Josh and chef. All of whom said hello and stopped working to ask how we were doing, right out of a Ritz Carlton playbook. This August, I experienced the York Beach Surf Club as the perfect blend of nostalgia, quality, value and service.

Yelp
We've stayed here several x's and it is one of our favorite places to be! The clean cool design and rooms in the main building are beautiful and clean with wonderful balcony views. The pools are fantastic, heated saltwater, perfectly designed to enjoy being around or in. We love the local vintage surf theme and clean aesthetic. The management on our most recent trip went out of their way to make sure our stay could happen when an external booking site was glitchy. They are currently working on bringing back the restaurants/ cafe and bar, hopefully by 2025. Expect an unbothered laid back beach vibe, which is refreshingly un-stuffy. Besides the main bldg, we have also stayed in a bungalow, which was fun for cooking meals and settling in - those have a cottage feel, where the main bldg was renovated to a higher standard. Still love both, and both are worth it. We come to surf, explore the tide pools across the street, and wander the beach. The pool here is the best when we've had enough of the cold ocean.

Yelp
I booked 2 nights, left after one. I emailed to ask for a particular refund and have no reply. Don't stay at this hotel, here is a list of issues. Bad parking, no lines drawn and no lights. Owner said he hid parking cause he didn't want to see a bunch of cars in front. The outside doors to the hotel are not locked, only rooms are locked. Paid for an ocean view, got a view of more hotel rooms across the parking lot. You can see into the first floor rooms from just walking by if the curtains aren't closed. The room wasn't clean and the tv was bolted to the wall next to the bed, no way to see it. Tv didn't work, owner complained he's been waiting 12 weeks for Comcast's to fix. When I complained about the poor tv situation he asked if we were in an 06 room because the contractor messed up and out the tv in a bad spot. So they are well aware but not doing anything. No soap or shampoo in the shower, have to go ask. The shower had hairs in it and dirt all over the floor. The bed was tilted so feet were higher than our heads. Worst stay I've ever had at a hotel

Yelp
Young, inexperienced developers wanted to revitalize the 1960's motel with a stroke of a brush, had no idea what improvements were even needed or why, but oh yeah ........it has a great pool! Please. I'm sad for the collateral damage that will and has occurred with loyal, hard working staff. Our experience was so disappointing with this motel. Clearly the rumors that the original owner, now believed to be the manager, extended himself so much that financially the motel's debt could only be recovered by selling it to an uninvolved company. The worst was as I was expressing my experience, the phone kept ringing and they continued to gather credit card info to the tune of over $400 a night. Bottom line, I would never recommend this motel or any other properties that the company owns. I would never stay at this motel again.

Yelp
Highly impressed with our stay! Clean very cute minimalistic room with a great shower and balcony we spent several nights on enjoying the seaside air. In addition the on site bar and restaurant was amazing with unique cocktails and fresh food. Unfortunately the poolside bar was closed ( we came in the late summer season) but the heated saltwater pool was a great addition with plenty of comfortable seating, umbrellas, and side tables! Short walking distance to several fantastic restaurants and beach right across the way as-well.

Yelp
Pictures are deceiving! We rented a 2 bedroom Bungalow with the details listed on their website with pictures. Stated built in closets, ample counter space, tile walk in showers, etc. upon arrival we waited 1.5 hour to get into room from their stated check-in time. When we arrived to room we were extremely disappointed. (See pictures of actual bungalows). The outlets in the "living room" did not work in any wall. The shower was so tiny. We went to go to bed that evening and noticed that 2 pillows didn't even have pillow cases on it (and they don't use fitted sheets...that's personally preference but I was not happy). The only left us 3 towels for a 4 person stay. I had to go back out and request sheets and pillow cases which we didn't get until the next day when I went back and requested it again. There isn't enough sitting chairs/couch in the living area to accommodate 4. Pool area is nice and location is nice. That's about it. Not as spacious or nice as they lead you on to think.

Yelp
This hotel is exactly what York needed. A modern/sleek hotel accommodating to those who want a bit of an elevated experience different from the run of the mill 25+ year old hotels. The staff is amazing - shout out to Anisia for her great drinks and kindness, Jamie at the pool for his friendliness and Victor for his warm welcome. We even booked to come back next week!

Yelp
I absolutely loved my stay here. Yes, there is no elevator...but reading reviews prior I knew what to expect. I met some amazing people (one I will never forget) and my room and view were incredible. The owner was very personable and was constantly on top of things. The beach across the street is rocky, but was the perfect place to sit, enjoy great company, and appreciate the moon reflecting off the water as well as the stars in the sky. I am normally a person who travels and visits a location, marks it off, and moves onto the next...I definitely plan on returning here!

Yelp
Positives: people were extremely nice but exhausted A new hire Shane was fun and helpful. All the Managers were nice and seemed to be listening. Taylor was an excellent cook! He made Brisket and ribs to die for. The avocado toast was so good. However, you really had to wait for it. Food and drinks were priced like a four star resort. No free coffee and theirs "very good" was $6 each time. Location is great! Pool was very nice and the chairs where good. Towels and water pressure were descent. Negatives: NO TV service, no streaming, no You-tube. Nothing!!!!! Blank TV. Reviews going back to April say No TV so it is not the Internet going in and out. No elevator, no bellman, no charts, and little staff. It was dirty in the corners and Cob webs on lights. I did not see any trash laying around so somebody picked it up. some rooms had furniture and microwaves. Ours had neither and no closet. A truly rectangular room with our stuff in piles on the floor. Hard rain there was flooding in the parking lot and mud everywhere. Will someone pull a weed? I found myself pulling them. The quickest and most important fix: Security is poor! Front locks do not work well, Our sliders did not even have the hardware. No secure method of room charging. Reviews going back stressed security. Good parking availability, but no lights in back lot or around the Bungalows. Basic todo list: Sunny tomorrow are towels washed and ready. Maintenance lists. Outdoor fire pits had no propane for Forth of July weekend. We were paying double. Overall, Good people trying to figure It out within a budget. Jake was a superstar! He worked his butt off! Suggestion: fix first then upgrade! We stayed four days.

Yelp
We picked this hotel on a whim and we will definitely be back! You can tell how much care was put into the 2022 renovations and although there are still some growing pains, this place is a must see! Our room, which was a King Side Ocean View was the perfect size and very well appointed. (I regret not taking photos to share here.) The fridge was plenty big, bed was comfy, and the bathroom was very clean and modern. The only negative would be the lack of space to hang your clothing, but that was no issue for us as we didn't have much to hang. Our room had a slider out to a good size balcony where we could see both the ocean and views of the pool. Each balcony on the main building has two sling chairs to relax on. Another reviewer commented on the lack of streaming channels. They are correct, there were none, but again, growing pains. We didn't come to sit and watch TV anyway and there is YouTube access and some amazing music of all genres to choose from. The pool area was also well appointed with lounge chairs, the same types of chairs on the balconies, and these large mattress like beds that were great and highly sought after. There was enough shade from umbrellas and extremely clean restrooms right there (three to be exact). The pool water was comfortable and refreshing (no chlorine smells!) There are two Airstream campers that have been fashioned into bars on the property. The first is out by the front lawn where they have roped in seating, super plush couches, electric fire pits, corn hole and music. The vibe is definitely more country club as opposed to a hotel/motel. The second Airstream is by the pool. The bartender (Lindsey) was beyond amazing! She will do whatever she can to accommodate and her personality was great. Her colleague Jamie is also a hot ticket! There is also a coffee bar/cafe up front where you check in. The food and ambiance was superb! Photos included. We has the bruschetta, grilled shrimp and a burger and were very impressed (the service was also fabulous here). I forgot to mention that you can get full menu items delivered to you both at the pool, or anywhere on the grounds. The final night we stayed was 7/3 and while out front watching the many fireworks displays down the beach, Lindsey brought us prepacked s'mores bags to make over the fire pit. Some restaurants to check out during your stay: The Central https://www.thecentralmaine.com/ and the Lobster Cove https://www.lobstercoverestaurant.com/ Overall we loved out stay. There are some minor fixes that the owners will be working through in time but nothing monumental enough to ruin a vacation. Massive thumbs up York Beach Surf Club! If you plan to stay, book soon as this place was super busy.

Yelp
Rooms did not have any extra linens or bottled water. The noise level from other guests and hotel bar/restaurant noise was ridiculous. Other guests were banging around all night. Found hair in the bed and blood on the pillow. Couldn't get ahold of anyone at the front desk so we slept with towels spread out over the bed and used our sweatshirts balled up as pillows. Totally unacceptable conditions for the price they're charging. There was no phone in the room and no cable to the TV. Thankfully we were only here one night.

Yelp
Nice clean modern decor with a retro twist. They pack in all the amenities in their modest footprint. They offer sweet little bar/eating areas, nice pool and movies at night. Will definitely return.

Yelp
Check in is horrible. Arrived at 3:30, was told room wasn't ready, and wouldn't be ready until maybe 8pm. We were told we could hang at pool and use public bathrooms. They called us at 6:30 to let us know the room was ready. There never was an apology for the delay. The TV is a nightmare as it has to be used with your outside app. It is unfortunate, they have done such a great rehab, the location is beautiful and so is the hotel. This hotel left a sour note on our visit, we wouldn't return.

Yelp
went there for dinner last night. way overpriced and the food was sub par and took a long time given there was only a few of us inside. will never go back.

Yelp
Large, clean rooms. Recently renovated over the last couple of years. Balconies have an electrical outlet. Modern black-and-white decor. Free on-site parking. Small restaurant on the property with outdoor seating on well-tended grounds. Right across the street from the water. Walking distance to a restaurant. Short drive to Short Sands Beach for York center.

Yelp
This is exactly what we have been waiting for in New England!! We love the York Beach surf club and cannot wait to come again and again! Cannot beat this location. Right on the beach! We stayed in a homey bungalow with pristine, minimalistic, and clean furniture. The pool is amazing and unlike anything you'll find in New England. The bar tenders are very friendly and make such fun cocktails. The cafe equally as good for a morning coffee. The entire hotel staff is welcoming and eager to assist in any way. They were helpful in recommending restaurants and things to do in the York area! Such a cute town. The owner happened to be on site during our stay and was eager to meet guests and even bought us a round of cocktails! We already booked our next stay and cannot wait to bring more friends and family along next time!

Yelp
Very poorly maintained, pool was closed for most of my stay (closed by State of Maine officials), no umbrellas at tables, broken down lawn mower on site, New owner, John Perkins, is very rude! No sense of customer service or loyalty. He hung up on me while addressing my concerns!

Yelp
So excited about the opening of the Surf Club. I recently went for a walk through with my family and this is truly a one of a kind in the York, ME area. The hotel is incredible. You walk in and get to see a little glimpse of history and what surfing meant to Long Sands back in the day and still does today. The pool and pool bar blew me away. You can't beat the location. Walk right out to the beach. The food trucks are such an amazing touch as well. They've really thought of everything and I will be anxiously awaiting our visit to the Surf Club next summer.

Yelp
Great location! It's located on the end of long sands beach so it's a more private area. There is a trolley stop right next door, so you can take it to short sands beach where there are lots of shops and restaurants. Rooms are clean and the staff was super friendly. Only negative is that the beds were hard. Would stay there again!!

Yelp
If you have a chance to stay here- TAKE IT! Fantastic location, right across the street from a great beach, walking distance to great restaurants, etc. The new owners/host Taylor and Mark and AJ could not be any nicer. They are so friendly and polite and professional- the entire time we stayed here, I never saw them without their masks on. We've always chosen to stay in the 'pet friendly' building because our labs love the beach. Very grateful to have a place they can come away for a little vacation, too. There are BIG new plans for this awesome place, and the upgrades have begun. Can't wait to see Taylor's vision come to life with the Surf Club the motel will transform into under his magic touch. Am so thankful for the wonderful memories I've had here. While part of me secretly wants to keep this place a secret so there will always be room for me and my family for our next weekend get-away, I would love nothing more than to see this spot overflowing with guests as happy as we were.

Yelp
2 stars for the view and proximity of the beach and ocean. We stayed in a cottage. What a dump. We found a fresh mouse hole upon moving in with debris from the inner wall leading away from it. By and large just a dirty place and they obviously don't clean them well. We ran out of toilet paper too and they don't provide cottages with it. Okay, fine. But it was almost 10pm, and we had kids. Come on, really? Free breakfast too, but wait, not for cottages either. Whatever.

Yelp
What a view this place has. It's situated directly across the street from the ocean on Long Sands Beach. It's more towards the rocky end so it wasn't that great for swimming, but was awesome for tide pooling. We called last minute and were able to get an efficiency. Unfortunately I can't remember who I talked to, but she made a mistake in telling me a room was available and ended up giving us an upgrade to a bigger room with an ocean view for the same price. Really cool of her. All of the people that I dealt with were really nice and made us feel right at home. Very friendly and relaxed. The room itself was an efficiency so we had a little fridge, a toaster, a coffee pot & a 2 burner stove. Oddly, there was no microwave. That would have been a nice addition. The room was really clean and the a/c was arctic cold. There are 2 reasons why I didn't give 5 stars. The first was the lack of consistent internet access. They did say that they were contacting the internet provider and were working on it, but we were there 3 days and I had to go outside to get a weak signal. The 2nd reason was the beds. They were sleep on the ground hard. No matter how many blankets I piled on it still felt like I was sleeping on a rock. Other than that we loved the place.

Yelp
First, the breakfast was not free there is 7 dollars off. You are very close to the beach but it is still a few minute walk. Also there is a lot of cars on the way. It is very nice if you are planing on not being inside a lot, not really worth it's money.
