TOTAL DISASTER.
They call it the York Castle Hotel. Folks… it’s not a castle. Not even close. It’s a tired building with a big ego and nothing behind it. The name is the best thing about it, and that’s saying a lot.
But let’s be clear: the real headline here isn’t the décor, or the chains, or the food.
The main event is the owner/management attitude, and it’s DISGUSTING.
You walk in and you can feel it immediately: this isn’t a hospitality venue, it’s a power trip. The vibe is: don’t ask questions, don’t have standards, don’t expect respect. Patrons aren’t treated like customers, they’re treated like nuisances. Like you’re there to comply, not to be served. I’ve dealt with “bad service” before. This isn’t that. This is hostility, like basic courtesy is beneath them.
And yes, the place itself matches the energy. Dead. Empty. Cold. Weird. Like the building has given up. Large sections shut off, chained off, not in a “renovation” way. In a “we’re barely functioning” way. It’s not ambience. It’s abandonment.
Now the food? ALSO DISGUSTING.
This place used to be okay, which makes what they’re serving now even more embarrassing. Low effort. Low care. The kind of meal you look at and think, I’m actually paying money for this? I wouldn’t serve it to my dogs. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Just pure regret.
This isn’t a mistake.
This is a pattern.
This is no standards.
This is no pride.
This is a venue coasting on a name it hasn’t earned.
York has better options. Much better. Much cleaner. Much friendlier. Much more worth your money.
SAD!
Avoid at all costs.
