It's a great new cafe in Stephenson Street, overlooking the council house. The cafe was busy when we walked in, but they did manage to find a table for the two of us. The interior has the current trend of unfinished ceilings, where the air conditioning and electrical ductwork are exposed. We had a friendly & helpful waitress who engaged with us. The meals were lovely and tasty. My only criticism is that my meal wasn't that hot, but it didn't spoil the experience

Came for brunch on a Sunday. As a walk-in, our group of 3 only had to wait 10 minutes for a table. This place has a nice atmosphere and we weren’t rushed at all throughout our meal or after. The menu is interesting with interesting spins on some breakfast foods. There was some flexibility with some of the dishes, for example picking the type of egg for the house breakfast. Recommend this place for brunch, especially if you are looking for a place centrally located, near New Street station.

Due to being a frequent travel through Birmingham, i have always been wanting to see what Yorks Cafe was offering (I only wanted something to drink since i had a huge breakfast). I was greeted with a wonderful server who asked if i had any special requests or allergies, before coming around to take my order. The atmosphere was a nice vintage look inside. Personally I do love that style of environment. Moving on, they have a large variety of food and drinks and i tried one of their special lattes which had turmeric, cinnamon and ginger. The taste was unique and i had nothing like it before. It definitely refreshed my pallet. Overall, i am very pleased with the coffee and the staff and will definitely have to revisit within the near future. Thank you so much for your service.

Lovely spot for a hot drink or a quick bite. We visited on Saturday morning for a light breakfast. Their sourdough with a choice of spreads was tasty - we each got to try a combo of spreads with our sourdough (peanut butter & Jam and peanut butter and honey. Items and reasonably priced. We were lucky to get a table quickly and staff were friendly and attentive. It does get very busy here as it is a small establishment.

I was in Birmingham for a City break with a friend and we discover York’s on google when we arrived at the Train station. Last Sunday we were starving after our journey coming from London so we decided to have a brunch. The cafe was very busy but we didn’t have to wait long to get a table, we ordered a Yorks House Breakfast which was so delicious, Fried chicken & French Toast with a beautiful sauce on the side and the Masala fries which were very tasty. Staff was really lovely and friendly. Also great coffee selection and perfect atmosphere for a Café. We went back again for more coffee and Avocado smashed and Feta cheeses on Toast, so yummy! Probably one of my favourite cafes ever!

*** YORKS HAS MOVED! Look up Yorks Paradise, which is a newer, larger venue only 5 minutes away. *** For years, this was my favourite breakfast in the city. The Arabian eggs are delicious. Great coffee too - the best roast in Birmingham. The team are efficient and friendly. Special shout out to Emily and Craig and Manon, thank you. So, do check out Yorks Paradise for the same team, coffee, and food.

Google
Too greasy for our liking. We ordered two dishes, the house breakfast and the two chicken stuff, drawn by numerous positive online reviews to this restaurant. However, upon arrival, we were informed that the menu had changed, leaving us to navigate a new menu and new prices. The house breakfast (15£) featured toast so thinly sliced and deep-fried it resembled croutons more than bread. Unlike most other places, the sausage was overly soft, lacking in texture. The mushrooms and bacon were unremarkable, though the poached egg was delightful. It was disappointing to find only one enjoyable element in the dish. The 'two chicken' (14£) was overwhelmingly greasy. The thick toast was drenched in oil, making each bite akin to swallowing oil, and the chicken's thick batter encased dry meat, with the dipping sauce doing little to cut through the grease. The only saving grace was the refreshing pickles. On the bright side, the drinks met our expectations, with both the chai latte and flat white being satisfactory. The location is convenient and the decor pleasing. However, for those seeking a tasty brunch or mindful of their diet, I wouldn't recommend this place.

I had a latte (£4) and the korean egg drop sandwich (£10) with avocado (instead of bacon). The latte was great, incredible texture and exceptional taste. No complaints there except that the latte is 10oz and priced close to lattes in London Mayfair. Not sure how they arrived to that price, bigger margins? I underestimated the size of the sandwich, it was quite fulfilling. Definitely properly fueled my backpacking tour in Birmingham for the whole day. The idea of using a shukopan (over e.g. sourdough) was an interesting one. The flavour was delicious but I felt like it could use a bit more range (yes, I'm asian). Peeking at the other tables, all the food that arrive looks absolutely stunning. Atmosphere was great, feels like a good place to do work or have meetings. Overall, would come back next time I'm in Birm.

Yelp
This was a nice little find on the corner with a cozy feel. I opted for a croissant but there were a lot of breakfast dishes that were tempting. My iced latte was also pretty good.

Yelp
Great espresso and vegan iced mocha, friendly service and grabbed my backpack when I forgot it! Will definitely go again.

Yelp
When I was planning a day trip to Birmingham to visit Cadbury World, I was looking for some good places to eat. Yorks Bakery Cafe came up on my search. I looked at the menu, and everything sounded really good, plus - the prices were pretty cheap. It's about a 5-minute walk from Birmingham Moor Street station. My friends and I arrived at around 11 am on a Thursday. There were a few people dining there, but more people ordering coffee to go. They seat you, give you menus, you order at the counter, and then they bring the food out to you. I ordered the shakshuka and added bacon, which was excellent. The portion was the perfect amount for me. The bread that it came with was a little hard, but the dish itself was so good that it made up for it. Would definitely recommend Yorks if you're in Birmingham.

Yelp
First timers of York's Bakery & it's delicious. Very cute setting on a corner, with a warm & inviting setting! The service was nice. Food took a bit, but were patient people. I ordered the hot chocolate & my boyfriend a flat white. My hot chocolate was incredible! Rich Chocolate & creamy! The food was also great with very nice presentation! Definitely take a stop here, even just for a coffee.

Yelp
This Yorks is quite new, however in May 16 it had a renovation to fix a lot of problems the previous new shop had. Yorks listened, and executed the complaints. It now has two toilets, which means they can have an alcohol license now sell their wonderful craft beers and wines again. They have knocked through to the unit next door, meaning they have far more covers, and a new basement. The basement also has perks such as a projector so movie nights will be back. They can also bring back jazz nights. They also have a larger kitchen, meaning they have a full food menu. Prices have been sorted, you can get a light lunch for £4, £6 for something larger, and for around £8 you can get a meal which has quite large portion sizes. They will be roasting their own coffee with a fantastic new roaster and will be operated by highly trained staff from Caravan Coffee. Their coffee will not be sold wholesale so the blends will be their own exclusive ones. They are now open 'til 10pm daily. This is now a great place to work, and they offer filter coffee where you can have refills for just £1. The former store did have problems with hygiene, mice were coming in to the building. This is now sorted, and I have to say the place looks clean. They are dog friendly which is great.

Yelp
I have always been a massive supporter of Yorks Bakery Cafe back when they just had there first establishment on Newhall Street...was super sad to see it close. But fear not, they have two beautiful cafes located in hot spots in Brum, one just off Colmore Row and one on Stephenson Street, conveniently located a few minutes from New Street. Anyway, back to the gorgeous subject of the Stephenson Street's new refurbishment...the store is much bigger with more seats upstairs and even a downstairs - yay! It has an awesome New York vibe about the whole place. The menu has ever been revamped, and oh boy it does not disappoint. In a short amount of time I have quickly become obsessed with the this cafe again - from yummy breakfasts, filling dinners and delicious sweet treats this place has something for everyone. So what have a had so far I have tried the: - Posh Bean on toast - Smokey barbecue beans on sourdough with fresh herb mojo verde. Super yummy and I probably could have done with another one. Presentation was spot on! - Arabic filled break with freekah salad, pomegranate, tzatziki, hummus, leaves and tahini dressing with feta and broccoli accompanied with the yummiest fries. This dish was so delicious and full of flavour - cannot wait to have this again. - Sweet potatoes fries with garlic yoghurt aioli made for perfect snacking food! Surprised how good the portion was - definitely could have shared this! The dip was a good accompaniment - it might not be for everyone but they have a range of other sauces you can have. - Selection of yummy cakes all of excellent quality. Perfect with a cup of english breakfast tea or a refreshing pot of peppermint tea. The staff are super chilled out which makes for a fun atmosphere. What's more they have bought back their legendary Monday night jazz - starts from 7.15pm until 9pm. The place is buzzing from about 6.30pm so be sure to get there early for seats or a good spot to stand and be ready for a magical evening of some smoking hot jazz beats. It's safe to say...I love this place! Note to self - check if board games have arrived!!

Yelp
Sorry guys, I don't understand the hype. I just finished my breakfast and can't believe I spent almost £11 for the food here. This place is super popular. I arrived at 10am today (Saturday) to find no tables. Luckily there was 1 table left outside. I ordered the eggs benedict and the house chai. I think this is a really attractive cafe. I wanted to sit inside. Apparently there is a downstairs level too but it was full so I didn't bother. The staff seemed quite friendly. Its in a nice central location. I really wanted to like it!! For being the "house chai" it barely had any flavouring to it. Very weak drink. I expected something stronger. My eggs benedict came out extremely fast for how busy they seemed. It was a really good looking breakfast. However, the egg yolks were solid and overcooked. My muffins were partially burned. And there was barely any hollandaise sauce. The sauce that was on my plate had formed a skin as if it had been sitting out for quite some time. Oh and they must have not dried the eggs off because my eggs and plate were very watery. The bacon was good. The presentation was great. But I wouldn't recommend this place based on my experience. If it wasn't so expensive I'd say I would give it another go. But the price and this poor breakfast turned me off Yorks completely :(

Yelp
Finally got around to Yorks! I know they are known for delicious brunch, but Brandon A. and I stopped by in the evening and ordered a few Mezze plates and some hot drinks. The new, refurbished Yorks has a kind of minimalist-yet-cosy, homey vibe, with exposed brick and long, sturdy wooden tables. The staff are super friendly. The meatballs and falafel were both fantastic, but the cauliflower was a bit disappointing... it was cold, which was unexpected, and just kind of bland. The shining star of Yorks is definitely the drinks though- one of the better lattes I've had in Birmingham- nice, strong coffee! The matcha latte is a neat offering as well. Definitely a nice cosy coffee spot.

Yelp
Costy little place with bags of charm and character located right by Birmingham New Street Station. I liked the old location of Yorks but it feels like they have really upped the quality levels for this new venture. Myself and Emma M visited this place for a late breakfast today. It's a great place to work as the WIFI is decent and the cafe is light and airy, my only warning is there are only about 6 big tables so if you want one of them you have to move pretty quickly. The rest of the seating is bar style in the window areas of the cafe...great for a quick drink but not if you want to settle with your laptop. I went for the smashed avocado or sourdough bread with chilli and lime. When my plate hit the table I was a little concerned about the portion size but the flavour and presentation more than made up for it. I decided to have a earl grey tea to accompany it which was one of the best I have ever had. it's a great touch that they give you loose leaf tea instead of bags, the flavour is intense and you get a good few cups out of the pot. I find it hard to find fault it here. Beautiful cafe, great menu and well made drinks.....spot on really!

Yelp
Tea haven... Or heaven! Yorks has always been well known in Birmingham with the locals for a good place that does 'OK' food but more importantly the selection of teas and cakes are not to be under estimated Situation on a ritz-esque corner of stephenson street, the bar offers great views and atmosphere with plenty of seating areas inside and outside too. My most recent visits which are becoming more regular are the cheat day Wednesday's whereby you select a drink for £3 or less and you get a slice of cake for £3 (overall £3 altogether) which is a great deal considering a drink is usually £3 average and cake is £2 average. If you're passionate for tea like me or perhaps a coffee person, Yorks has it all and would welcome you to try. So far I've had the chai latte tart as well as the passion fruit tart, so if you ever bump into those on a lucky day then be sure to try it! Would recommend.

Yelp
Situated right next to New Street Station Yorks is a great stop off for travellers and shoppers alike, worth mentioning straight away that they have a really nice food selection, everything comes fresh from their kitchen downstairs. All distressed wood and metal this is a nice comfortable place (dare I say Hipster, in a good way though!), it's bigger than it looks as well, it goes back a long way and there is additional seating downstairs. You'll get a good mellow coffee here, there's a good tea selection (although I do like to see a timer with my tea ideally) and some tempting treats ready to pick at the counter (literally, grab a plate and pick your own). As I mentioned the food here is good, you'll have a really nice breakfast here and there is an interesting middle eastern vibe throughout the offering, a bit different and healthier than the average café. It's a little pricier than other places but with friendly staff, great location and good food/drink I'm not complaining. Top tips, there is always water at the end of the counter, your table number is painted onto the edge of the table and the toilet is downstairs in a little alcove by the kitchen.

Yelp
I have a York's addiction. I have never had a bad meal or drink here and I visit to relax and chat with friends and also to get work done in the week. You can be as fussy/ fancy with your drink as you like and its never a problem they don't even bat an eyelid when you ask for more water in your tea pot. Fancy a new adventure? Try a Matcha latte

Yelp
The brand new Yorks has chosen such a great location based just outside New street station with breakfast meals commencing at 7.30am this is a perfect spot for commuter like myself. Being a Tea Lover, I'm particularly impressed with the team menu they offer. (Yes I'll be slowly working my way down the list) On Wednesdays, they do cheat days £3 for a slice of cake and hot drink woop!! Woop! They offer FREE wifi, yes! So the décor is simple , rustic and again hipster chic :D They also offer a large range of hot food freshly prepared in their on-site kitchen, speedy service and helpful staff. I always choose a fresh bake from the counter too, their brownie and passion fruit tarty is totally Lush. Have a good day everyone, thanks a bunch for reading

Yelp
I was a fan of the last place and despite a few moans on the grape vine I'm a fan of this place too. I absolutely adore how it looks, it's cosy and you've gotta get there early or no seat for you I imagine. The buttered eggs are as good as I remember them. They seem to be having a few teething issues with the orders going through to the kitchen but from the chatter they're trying to get that resolved because well - it's making more work for them. Conveniently there's plugs under every bench seat so if you can get a place it's a great location to work. Having this place a 2 minute walk from new street station is handy when the weathers bad but you really want those buttered eggs. I can see some new items on the menu as well as the old favourite, gotta try that Shakshuka. I think I've found one of my local favourites. Could even dash here on my early shift pattern.

Yelp
Yorks bakery and cafe on Stephenson street has recently reopened after having a refurb. The store is now much bigger with a downstairs dining area as well as further room upstairs. The menu has slightly changed also. The building is worth a picture or two as its a corner entrance resembling the flat iron in NYC. It's a minute walk from grand central and very accessible being so central. The breakfast menu is great! On an recent visit I had their crushed avocado with feta on sourdough. It not only looked great but tasted great too! Not too little or not too much it was the perfect kick to get the day going. I haven't had breakfast from Yorks since they moved from Newhall st simply because the store never seemed big enough. It's one of the reasons I gave their sister store a four star rating as the laid back hangout vibe I was so accustomed to at Newhall was lost. This of course has changed with this new store as there is plenty of room and they've brought back Monday night jazz! The coffee is great and easily in the top 3 cafes in Birmingham! I'm still waiting to try their matcha coffees, they look great! If your looking for breakfast or a coffee in central Birmingham it doesn't get much better than this!

Yelp
I've been to Yorks many times for a quick coffee or takeaway lunch but the other day I sampled their breakfast/brunch menu for the first time with a friend who was visiting from Devon. We arrived just after 7.30 and were the only people in there, although it was busier by the time we left. Yorks has recently expanded to take the unit next door and is now really spacious and tastefully fitted out. We took a seat to study the menu before ordering at the bar. Unfortunately on this occasion the card machine wasn't working so my friend had to run down to New Street to get some cash out (hence this only being a four star review). There are many delicious looking options on the menu but we both went for the toasted banana bread with labne (Greek yoghurt), dukkah and raspberry compote, with flat whites to give us our morning caffeine kick. Our breakfast arrived quickly and was delicious. The banana bread was so tasty and the creamy yoghurt, raspberry and dukkah all worked together perfectly without being too sweet. I've been trying to think of an excuse to go back for more ever since! The coffee there is also seriously good, much better than anything you'd ever get in a chain. I'll definitely be heading back to Yorks again as well as recommending it as a venue for coffee meetings to all of my work colleagues.

Yelp
Loved the old York's and this one is much closer for me! Near new St station in a lovely corner building, it's different to the old one but not when it comes to the drinks. It's a dark cosy room with plenty of seating and cushions to make things comfy. They have sandwiches, snacks and cakes. Despite that, I'll definitely be back for coffee and cakes. The coffee is not too strong but is tasty. A great flat white. They also have a variety of lovely loose leaf teas. I had a 'bleeding heart' cake made with raspberry, rose and I think almond. This was sweet fragrant and delicious. Brilliant place to pop into for a drink if you're in the area!

Yelp
My low rating is due to the mess my lunch made of me the floor and the table! Seriously I've never known a meal like it. I had the falafel burger without the tomato. On first bite the thing exploded everywhere - there were three individual falafles that made up the burger with a mountain of tzatiki, hummus and harissa sauce. Two bites in there was no controlling it, me the table and the floor were covered in it. I had to resort to a knife and folk and even that was still not enough to control it! This dish needs a warning on the menu. But it tasted really nice, once I finally managed to eat it. And the sweet potato fries were yummy. The pastries and the soft non coffee drinks are good, which as a non coffee drinker I appreciate. Plus I've been here most of the day as a base for work, ordering the odd drink as space rent. While I make use of their free wifi to amuse myself. I would have given a much higher stating if the rateability of the menu, wasn't such a hazard.

Yelp
Monday night is Jazz nite! Try the Mezze with beer/wine combo. The desserts looked great too, but my super food salad, flat bread & hummus plus olives saw me replete.
google avatar

Emma M.

Yelp
Amazing place to have a quiet catch up with friends and the breakfast not only looks incredible, it tastes it. I had the smashed avocado and feta on sourdough toast and it was super tasty. Cannot believe this is in the middle of the city centre!

Yelp
Best coffee in Brum. Vibrant and lovely with great atmosphere. Alongside great coffee there is superb good. Something for everyone. A great example of the revival of this great city.
google avatar

Caroline C.

Yelp
Vibrant cafe situated really close to new street station. Lots of seating, but as it's very popular you are lucky if you get a table. Good selection of coffee and juices-I like the mint and pineapple juice. The flatbreads are also really tasty and make a nice change from burgers. They do brunch too but I've not tried it yet! Order at the bar-this can take a while, but food and drink comes out pretty quickly:)

Yelp
Just brilliant, very nice staff, very healthy food, you pay for what you eat. Will come back

Yelp
Ordered the beans on toast and wow.. never had such a disappointing meal in my life. What's with the pizza bean sauce..? Thought I'd traveled over to pizza hut for a second! Never again... I prefer Heinz.. Oh and learn how to use a toaster please, I prefer my toast to be toast! Thanks!

Yelp
Great place for breakfast. Classy and good food and coffee. I had the granola and yogurt which I enjoyed a bunch.

Yelp
Maybe they think they are too cool to even talk to you when you come into the restaurant. We waited at the front, not sure if we need to be seated for at least five minutes and the staff didn't say anything too us...service is awful

Audrey W.

Yelp
I visit York café with my son for lunch when he visits home from Cornwall. he is a vegan so we find it difficult to find many places that we both enjoy eating at. we always enjoy our food and the ambiance and customer service is excellent in this lovely café. unfortunately as we left here on our last visit just after Christmas I tripped outside and broke my foot. so wont be able to visit for a while. but look forward to our next visit in a couple of months.
google avatar

Andy C.

Yelp
For a cool, laid back coffee with cake, Yorks has got it just right as an inner city coffee shop. Play monopoly for hours here sometimes just watching a Sunday go by...
google avatar

Jamie T.

Yelp
Upon my exit of Grand Central station, I happened upon Yorks which I had been intending to try out for some time. Venturing in for a much need coffee, snack and sit down, I was delighted by the place. It is extremely small which doesn't matter in the slightest unless there is a few of requiring seating. I ordered a regular latte and chocolate and pistachio cookie which was heavenly! The prices are reasonable, the produce excellent and decor is quaint. I would encourage anybody to try here rather than your standard chain coffee shops which are two a penny and can't come close.

Samina A.

Yelp
I love York's. It's on my way to work, and I often pop in for a vegs smoothie to see me through the morning. They have a great selection of food and drinks, friendly and helpful staff, and a quirky setting. What more do you need?

Nick C.

Yelp
I been the cafe by my friend recommend, the coffee is so good with art latte made by staff. The inside is big enough for people to relax and chill. I only got a coffee to take away but myself feel it's better then a lot of coffee shop nearby. Will recommend to my friend for sure!!! And will visit soon
