Coast to Coast Walk in England

"Characterized by rolling green hills and pastoral dales, this park presents gently rising slopes, low-growing vegetation, stone bridges arching over small rivers, and a patchwork of farmland. Trails meander past creeks and occasional waterfalls, and walkers commonly pass through sheep pastures where wooden gates and low stone walls must be negotiated." - Mike Nolan

6 must-visit national parks in the world - SilverKris

"Though many visitors head to the Lake District, I find the underrated Yorkshire Dales—celebrating Britain’s National Parks 70th anniversary—offer windswept moors and craggy outcrops best explored on foot or by bike via an extensive network of pathways like the Swale Trail (opened in spring 2018); over 20,000 residents live and work in the park." - Delle Chan

Friendly locals, beautiful views, stunning drives and so many walks to choose from what's not to love. Weather was kind to us which was a bonus. Every welcome centre at the national parks we visited were full of passionate, knowledgeable people who truly wanted to help us find the best experience depending on what we were after. Five days exploring just isn't enough time. We'll be back.... Lots!

When I was 10 years old I came to the Yorkshire Dales on a camping holiday with the rest of the Church Choir I was a member of. This trip was by way of a return to a place where I had been happy. The fact is that I had an even better time this Autumn. I saw places I had been before, over 50 years ago and where I learned to love walking. Circumstances meant I have been unable to return until now and I do not intend to leave it so long before I make another visit.

The Dales are one of the best places in England. Lots of walking in and around old villages, rivers, lakes and hills. If the weather is good then the scenery is very good.

I recently visited the Yorkshire Dales National Park with my family, and it was such a wonderful experience. We found a lovely spot for a picnic with wide open views of the rolling hills, and the kids were thrilled to discover a well-kept playground nearby, which gave them plenty of space to run around and burn off energy. The setting felt peaceful but also family-friendly, making it easy to relax while the children played. There were plenty of food options available too, which was really convenient when we wanted a quick bite without unpacking everything from the picnic basket. One of the highlights was spending time by the lake – it was calm, scenic, and perfect for just sitting back and enjoying the surroundings. The whole day felt easygoing and refreshing, with something for everyone to enjoy.

The Yorkshire Dales is an absolutely stunning place to explore. The scenic drive through the hills was one of the best I’ve experienced — peaceful, quiet, and incredibly refreshing for the mind. The atmosphere is calm and the landscapes are breathtaking at every turn. It’s a perfect trip if you’re looking to disconnect and enjoy nature. One tip: plan your stops ahead of time. Make sure to find a good spot for refreshments before and after your journey, as options along the way can be limited. Highly recommended for a scenic escape.

Beautiful area for walking, woods, water and picnics. A number of options, some wheel friendly. Paid parking allows for either car parks. Cafe facilities in the village or at Cavendish pavilion.
