The 6 Best Hotels in Edinburgh (Updated 2025)

"This four-star hotel in New Town is clean and modern with generally spacious feel and super comfortable beds, and it’s just a quick 15-minute walk to the Royal Mile. There’s a gym and bar on-site and a full English breakfast is served each morning (which can be included in the price). The rooms tend toward the smaller side, but I didn’t feel I needed extra space; they include flatscreen TVs and free Wi‑Fi. Just note that the bathrooms are bright and well-maintained but offer limited privacy, essentially forming part of the room rather than being fully divided from the sleeping space." - Matthew Kepnes

We booked this hotel after a previous stay 5 years ago and have had another wonderful stay. We couldn’t be happier with the experience. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. The location was also ideal, a 10 minute walk from Times Square and subway stations. The staff were all welcoming and helpful. A special mention must go to Marilyn, who truly went above and beyond to make our stay even more brilliant. Her kindness, professionalism, and attention to detail did not go unnoticed and made us feel genuinely valued as guests. We would absolutely recommend this hotel and wouldn’t hesitate to return. Thank you for such a memorable stay!

I was freezing for 4 nights because the heat was broken and unfixable during my stay. The temperature in the room was around 59°F. The staff were super rude when they had to give me a small heater from the reception, even though I was the one really suffering in the room. FYI, the room was not well insulated at all even the employees were shocked by the state of the room and said they didn’t understand how they were still renting the entire block, especially my room #401. The LED light was broken as well, even though the whole idea of renting the place was to have a good ambiance. When I asked to change rooms, they told me there were no available rooms, but when I checked Booking.com, I found many rooms available. I showed them the availability, and they said that even if I booked, it wouldn’t work. I didn’t believe them for a second, but I couldn’t take the risk of testing it because of how rude they were! I was afraid they would make me suffer even more just to avoid reimbursing me. On my last day, I asked for a late checkout at 12 p.m. instead of 11 a.m., and they agreed. The next morning, around 11 a.m., I called again to confirm the late checkout, explaining that given the state of the room, it wouldn’t be booked anyway. They said OK. Then around 12:50 p.m., I received a call from reception saying that I should have left the room at 12 p.m., that I had 10 minutes to be at the reception, and that if not, I would be charged for the entire night. I begged them for 15 minutes, but they were firm, saying I should have asked for another hour at the reception and not by phone, and that I was apparently on a waiting list, something the person on the phone never mentioned. I don’t even know how I packed so fast, but I did it because I was terrified of being charged for a night I wasn’t even staying!!! I am 100% sure they were punishing me because I wasn’t happy on the second night and because I was firm about finding a solution to sleep in a warm room. They acted like giving me their small heater was an inconvenience, even though I was freezing alone in the room while they were surrounded by people and moving around. When I arrived at the reception, the receptionist was on the phone with someone who was probably checking if I was still in the room. When she saw me, she said, “She is here,” with a look on her face as if I were the worst client they ever had which I am not. I am a clean, organized, respectful person and have never caused trouble in my life. Just so you know, this is my first bad review ever. I never write negative reviews because I truly appreciate people’s efforts, even when something goes wrong but this experience was unacceptable. FYI - The small heater was doing a lot of noise!!!! Also, 2 people spent hours trying to fix it when I was back late from work when they had all day to fix it or try at least!!! Instead of relaxing alone, I was staying late waiting for the person to finally go!

Location is great , 10 minute walk from time square and subway stations. Staff were very helpful when needed. Self check in was efficient and the rooms are very modern. Was comforting knowing we had a well kept room with a great view to come back to after a long day of exploring. Only thing wrong was the radiator for drying your towels didn’t work but that was a minor issue as they did give us fresh towels everyday ! House keeping came everyday we went out which was also great. Overall great experience staying here and glad we chose too.

Google
The rooms are extremely small. There is a button to raise and lower the bed so you can move around the room. There is no separation between the toilet and shower and the room, so anyone using the bathroom affects the entire room. The hotel is very noisy and you can hear everything. Breakfast is expensive and not worth the price. And most importantly!!! They charge for luggage storage. Three dollars per bag if you want to store it after checkout. My overall experience was that they try to make money off you in every possible way instead of providing good service

Google
The good: I feel that the lobby staff/restaurant staff/cleaning staff are really trying their best. I felt well taken care of. I feel bad leaving this review because it does not reflect the staff at all. I also felt that the overpriced breakfast buffet was at least convenient. Now the bad: The building is overall quite cramp and very run down compared to similarly priced hotels. Would not recommend unless they go through a major renovation. I wish I could leave 100 more 1 star reviews to dilute the surprisingly high rating. Rooms are small and run down. In true need of a full renovation. Many of the amenities are non functioning. The rooms remind me of a dilapidated hospital room. I heard there was a honeymoon suite. Anyone looking to this place for their honeymoon.. please avoid. Again, kudos to the staff. You are great.

Google
Ruined our holiday. This was not a 4 star hotel. It wasn’t really even a hotel it has hostel vibes. Booked at a cost of almost $2000 for three nights with my kid flying in from Europe to have a “home alone” style holiday only to discover we were in what feels like a prison cell. Nothing like the photos on the booking. You’re sleeping in a shower room there’s no “en suite” your toilet is in your bedroom. It was FILTHY we had to buy slippers because the floor was so bad. The bed was broken and tiny, the toiletries had no smell it was like school bathroom soap. Waited 3 hours for a shower cap. They never answer the phone when you ring down so I had to keep leaving my kid upstairs and running the gauntlet of rickety lifts to get things and then wait around for someone to serve you. On the first night the receptionist was making faces with a lobby guy behind me, about me. The hallways smelt like weed and cigarettes, no kettle - who gave this place four stars? It’s far far from it. Also times square it is not. It was the biggest disappointment totally ruined our holiday. I can see the hotel posting replies saying they are planning a big upgrade - so they are then knowingly selling people crappy rooms at 4 star prices and not compensating for the state of the place. Spent an hour in the lobby waiting for the yobot to be fixed to leave our bags, funnily enough they have guys that get paid $3 a bag to take them so it works out well the machine doesn’t work 90% of the time. Breakfast was so bad we walked in and back out again. I tried to upgrade because our room was that bad but they refused to allow that too.

Stayed here for 3 nights over Christmas. Had king bed with sleeper couch. Positives: the shower- water pressure and shower head were fabulous! The king bed was so, so dang comfortable! The room size was great. The location was convenient to get to Times Square, Broadway, Bryant Park, etc. Negatives: the lack of privacy for the bathroom/shower. It was a clear glass door and white curtain. No fridge or microwave. Watch out for homeless or scammers pretending they are staying at the hotel, but then try to follow you to your room. My husband caught on to this and let a hotel worker know and they kicked the guy out. But...I think this is NOT isolated to this hotel. Overall, for the price and location, you can't beat this place. If you are picky about the wood trim and paint and things being perfect, this is not place for you. But if you are visiting and pretty much only in the room for sleeping and showering, this place is great!

Google
My first time staying at a Yotel and it was very good. The hotel is extremely well-run by an excellent staff - from front desk to security to housekeeping. The hotel staff was very helpful in accommodating some particular and peculiar needs that I had. The room was comfortable, efficient, clean, and (apparently) environmentally friendly. The shower was really nice. I slept very well. The location is excellent and the elevators are the fastest I've ever been on. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience and I will definitely stay here again, and will also look for them in other locations.

Yelp
Love the locale! Check in was easy. Charged $60 for early check in. Room needed to be aired out so opened the window despite a broken window latch. No blanket on the bed so needed to ask housekeeping to send one up. Heated towel rack above the toilet is a nice touch. Skip the restaurant food. The espresso bar is appreciated. A/C and heating works but is noisy while running. Lobby reeks of air freshener trying to mask cigarette smoker secondhand smoke from outside.

Yelp
I wish I had read the reviews before booking. I was so excited for this hotel as it promised so much but it delivered hardly nothing. For the price I paid I expected to be greeted in a welcoming way, nice fresh rooms, I was also under the impression I booked a high floor corner room which was not true... what we got was rude hostess at the entrance, a run down, old looking building. The furniture in the room was old, full of stains and did not look cozy and luxurious like in the website pictures. It's also pretty small and you can hear everything from down below. I could mot recommend this place less.

Yelp
If you're looking for a budget hotel in NYC, you can't get any more budget than this. Yotel advertises itself as futuristic, aesthetic, and for a younger audience. Yet their rooms feel like what people thought the future would be in the 80's. The adjustable bed is fine, but the entire room needed a fresh coat of paint, or at the very least, a quick wipe down by the cleaning staff. Chipped paint on the walls, entertainment center, and desk areas. I noticed a large yellow-ish stain on my sheets. The body soap in the shower was empty upon arrival. After finishing a long day at a conference, I came back to watch some TV and unwind, only to find that the Chromecast's HDMI plug was bent sideways and unusable (TV didn't even recognize anything in the port) and the TV interface was stuck in 2008. Don't even get me started on the "ultra-modern gym" they advertise. 3 Peloton bikes (2 are broken and the seats don't stay put), 2 treadmills, 1 rowing machine, 1 cable machine, and some dumbbells. All crammed into a space where you can't even foam roll. You'd think a hotel in NYC would be close to a subway station, but you can enjoy a 10 minute walk to the closest one. If you really need a budget hotel, fine, but I'd recommend staying anywhere else.

Yelp
I wouldn't stay here again. Had too many problems and room wasn't clean enough for my standards. There was black mold in the shower, and smudges on the walls. Also, AC wasn't working in the first room so they switched me to another room, which had the same problem but I was able to reset the AC. But the new room had a broken towel warmer and the reclining bed was broken. I think they focus too much on aesthetics and not enough time fixing things/cleaning. I did have a great experience with customer service. They were helpful, nice, and always greeted you at the entrance. The hotel is located near Times Square and many food places on each corner. Even a 24 hr deli!! That was my favorite part. The beds were comfortable and the views were amazing. But this wouldn't be my first choice again.

Yelp
I haven't written a review in a long time, but I was internally writing my review during the entire stay. *Rolls up sleeves*. Alright, let's do this. Husband, "I booked us two nights in a penthouse terrace!" For well over $2k, we were expecting something along the lines of a Westin, you know, crisp, clean sheets, the lovely scent they diffuse, and luxe furniture that is beyond comfortable. Now imagine instead, walking into a room that was likely used for amateur p@rn where 98% of the furniture is broken, chipped, and/or so dirty you felt like you needed a shower. Said shower is worse looking than my college dorm and obviously had not been cleaned. And instead of the lovely aroma of white tea and cedar, it smells heavily of weed. Not a problem, in fact, I decided to break my "I'm not going to have edibles this trip" rule because of this place. After getting soothed enough to sleep, we slept on top of the bedding because, even a bit inebriated, there was no way we were sleeping on sheets that had likely not been cleaned and smelled like that store "Spencers" from the olden days, i.e. plasticky. We tried to get a refund for at least the second night, but no dice. If you want to spend money to sleep on plastic-feeling bedding, watch tv on the few working channels while sitting on a couch that should come with a tetanus shot, be all means, go for it. Or spend LESS and go to a Motel 6. Seriously, though, we've been to motels that were a billion times cleaner. P.S. A penthouse is defined as "an apartment on the top floor of a tall building, typically luxuriously fitted and offering fine views." The 8th floor ain't a penthouse.

Yelp
How do I start, I had a good experience BUT, this hotel is too over hyped and priced for nothing. I paid over $300 for one Saturday night to go see a play. There's barely any human interaction, ok cool, but like why are we paying so much then? The rooms are nice but they're still very small. They look bigger on the pictures online. The rooms are modern but I guess modern in NYC is just clean. It's a simple room and the bed slides up and down with the push of a button. Would I come back here? Most likely not unless there's a really good real. It was cool for a first time experience.

Yelp
No issues with my room, check in, baggage hold or staff. Comfortable bed, nice location. I wish the shower door stayed open though. My friend had little to no water pressure in his room, however. Overall a great stay with some minor issues.

Yelp
All the bad reviews are correct about this place. Mold in shower, they don't change sheets or towels. I stayed here with my boyfriend and noticed dingy random things about the room. Mold on the soap bottles which are plastic, super dirty carpets, BLOOD on a comforter. The only real perks to this hotel is location and cool venue room. I wouldn't go back if you care about quality. Definitely a motel with a Gucci belt.

Jalisa ..

Yelp
My experience at the Yotel was beyond ideal. We check in , Everyrging is fine at first until we realize there is blood and stains everywhere aswell on the bed aswell as mold in the shower and the carpet was beyond dirty. my socks turned black just walking around the room. the hallway smelled like pot and cigarettes. we went down to the front desk to get a change of sheets and possibly a new room and whilst ex paining everythingthe man shown in one of the picture cuts me off and says "what do you need? a sheet" or something along those lines not caring about my concern aswell as having a nasty attitude for their dirty and biohazard like conditions is making me think this is normal for them. if there was blood on the stains they should've been thrown away point blank. hotels make more then 5k a day the blankets can def be thrown away and replaced when there is a BLOOD STAIN on them . Phone didn't work so we had to keep going from the 19th floor to the fourth floor to the lobby and all the way back up instead of being able to call housekeeping or management. Reached out to their support section under the "Emergency" Tab because we were not offered a change of rooms , Or anything our room was beyond filthy. It's been almost a week. For a emergency email , i don't think it should take this long because when i emailed them to ask a question about the hotel they reached back to me a day later so i'm very confused as to what is going on. I really wish they would've emailed me back and resolved this with a refund or a better stay next time. with all of these reviews you would think they would try to reach resolutions to give themselves a better name. Yelp
If you are looking for a higher end hotel, look elsewhere. The vibe is definitely for the younger crowd which we were not aware of when we booked. Here are just some of the issues: - The sink faucet handle fell off in my hand. - There was crunchy dirt in the vinyl stitching on the desk. - The sink drained so slow. - The shower also pooled and drained so slowly that you're forced to stand in you're on soapy, dirty water. - Their bag storage robot went offline and despite there being tons of employees around, they had to call for someone who showed up 15 minutes after the robot went down. They either need to train more of the lobby attendants who are standing around to handle the robot or offer to store bags themselves. What bothered me the most wasn't the wait or that the robot when offline though. It was the 'not-my-issue' energy of the lobby attendants. It felt so unkind. - There were a young group of guys yelling and running up and down the hallway late at night. One of their hotel room fire alarms went off. It's just not the place if you're in need a higher end vibe, and want to be taken care of with great customer service.

Aaron R.

Yelp
Rooms look like a hospital rooms with purple carpet... run down furniture that has burn marks, paint chip all around the room, headboards are pealing, & this is more like a high rise motel. Dirty light switches. Wires hanging from behind tv. Stains all over the carpet. And cracks all over the walls. this is the 2nd room, the 1st one had no heat and it is 22degrees today. Never again...

Yelp
I found this hotel via the DayUse app. I just needed a few hours of sleep before work at 7pm. The use of the room between the hours of 9am - 5pm cost $79 + tax or about $139. In my eyes, it was worth it to be able to get some sleep for a few hours before heading to work as opposed to wandering around the city (not getting any rest). The hotel was a 15 minute walk from the hospital that I work. Was able to make to|from with no issue. The room was small, yet clean and functional for what I was using it for. Nice size bed (no comforter), small desk, tiny bathroom|shower. The hotel also provided wash cloth, towel, soap and lotion. I don't recall seeing a mini fridge or microwave, but I didn't need those items. Would definitely return again if a room was available for use.

Yelp
Stayed here for 3 nights. When we arrived after a long day of travel our reservation had been "cancelled ". Luckily they were able to fix it and still had a room for us. Rooms are tiny -- think cruise ship. The head of the bed elevates to give more room to walk around the room and then you lie it flat to sleep. Room was clean and did offer maid service every day. No ice machines, no coffee. Ridiculous resort fees on top of an already pricey room. Busy, bustling hotel. There is an automated way to drop your luggage off if your room isn't ready when you arrive which was nice. The location was great as well -- close to Times Square and Central Park.

Yelp
I stayed here about five years ago and had a great experience, so I decided to return for a quick visit to the city. Unfortunately, this time was a disappointment. When I got back to the room after going out, I noticed cups filled with liquid left next to the bed, which made it feel like the room hadn't been properly cleaned. There were also crumbs on the floor near the bed another sign that housekeeping may have skipped over some basics. The room was extremely hot, and it felt like the air conditioning wasn't working at all. On top of that, one of the features that drew me to book this room the ambient lighting behind the TV didn't even function properly or change colors like it was supposed to. Sadly, this experience was nothing like my first stay, and I won't be returning. Really disappointed.

Skye N.

Yelp
What a horrible experience. Bed bugs were crawling on my body. I have contacted the hotel numerous times and they refuse to contact me with any type of acknowledgment or solution. Please be careful staying here. Their customer service is horrible and obviously the establishment has a problem.

Yelp
Rooms not clean. Mold in shower. Bugs, lots of little bugs at window sill, in sink, in toilet. vending machine has crap coffee.

Yelp
This was one of the worst and most disgusting hotels I have ever been to! On top of the $350 for the night, there was another $50 tax you pay when you sign in through the "kiosk". Now for the room: Shower is extremely dirty and the water leaks out. There was a horrible draft from door going outside, we had to put towels down to prevent the heavy draft. There was no coffee pot (shouldn't every hotel have a coffee pot?) OR a mini fridge. There is a small door that looked like a closet but it was a FURNACE and was filthy! Picture attached. Took a walk to get a snack from the dirty and 3/4 empty vending machine and got charged twice for Doritos that didn't dispense. Extremely loud music continued as of 10:00PM that I have taken a video of. Very pretentious and disgusted by this hotel will never stay again

Yelp
I've stayed at YOTEL NYC many times over the years, but my June 2025 visit was a total let-down. The cabin's walls were scuffed and chipped in multiple spots and the entire room smelled of cigarette smoke despite the hotel's "100 % smoke-free" claim when I checked in. One elevators rattled on every ride and its ceiling lights flickered nonstop--hardly reassuring. Worst of all, Mission Control tried to charge me a "loyalty" fee of $70 just to store two items for 4 hours after checkout. The location is still handy for Javits Center events, but between the deteriorating rooms, safety concerns, and nickel-and-diming, YOTEL no longer delivers the value it once did. I'll be choosing another hotel on my next trip.

Yelp
Small hotel, even for NY. As this was the preferred for my recent company trip, I didn't have any choice but here. Location was a bit on the West side of manhattan. It's across the street from CVS and Target is about 2 blocks north. I flew in to EWR and took the train to Penn. From there, it was a solid 25 min walk with my baggage. Overall, it was just sort of a weird vibe with all the purple lights and not very well lit hallways. And to get in, you have to take 2 elevators, first to 4th floor then another to where your rooms is. Bit odd in design. 2 things I do like is that their beds have power recline feature. And it comes with free breakfast, or at least the rate that my company had paid for.

Yelp
Got the corner queen room, really good experience. Simple check in and nice staff. It's pretty expensive but I think it's worth it.

Christopher K.

Yelp
Shitty "Hotel". Room wasn't clean, AC doesn't work. Horrible staff. Don't waste your time or your money.

Anastasia B.

Yelp
We landed in NYC for our 4 day vacation and got to the hotel only to find out that they had cancelled our reservation at 8:30am mid-flight. Weirdly at 9am a confirmation email for our stay came through. Rather than be helpful and fix the situation they informed us we would need to rebook our stay, which at the new rate was $1,000 more. Needless to say, we stayed elsewhere. What a scam. Stay far away from this place.
google avatar

Mariana O.

Yelp
Everything is totally unkempt. Our room was dirty and we moved to a 'better' one that at least didn't have hair in the shower. The corridor smelled like cigarette smoke. The only pro was the location but I'd rather pay the same amount for a better place and get on the subway.

Charles F.

Yelp
I will never stay at Yotel Times Square again. The room was already disappointing--broken knobs, malfunctioning appliances, and an overall worn-down feel that does not match the photos online. The worst part? The infamous "Yobot" in the lobby. DO NOT use it. It constantly breaks, and when it does, you're stuck. We waited almost an hour for someone to come fix it so we could get our luggage. Meanwhile, there was a line of more than 10 guests also stuck waiting. The staff walked right past us and offered no solution--no manual process, no alternate storage, nothing. Just blank stares and "wait for the tech." A hotel in the middle of Times Square should know how to handle basic guest needs, but this place fails on every level: * Staff: 1 star - unhelpful and indifferent. * Rooms: 1 star - broken fixtures and cheap quality. * Efficiency: 1 star - slow, unprepared, and clueless. * Overall Satisfaction: 1 star - I regret booking here. Save yourself the frustration. There are plenty of hotels in NYC--this is not one you want to deal with.

Yelp
A DUMP!!!!! I've been a victim of whatever cyber shut down America was experiencing today. So unfortunate because it's my son's 18th birthday and resulted in us having to stay here. (Our other reservation elsewhere was cancelled) This place is the ABSOLUTE WORST! Motel; not a hotel. I hate this for us. We've been trapped in the airport ALL DAY! And all we wanted to do was lay our heads somewhere comfortable in peace after a dreadful day of prolonged travel. This place is diplorable, and missed on all levels! Our room is dirty and needs painting and maintenance. It's small and cramped. The toilet is steps to the bathroom and my son was embarrassed to use it for lack of privacy. Customer service was poor. No help or compassion from Front desk clerk after waiting 20 plus minutes for her to return to desk for us to check in. So much more I could say. But... Patrons BEWARE. This is not where you want to stay!

Blair M.

Yelp
Ive stayed at the Yotel in Boston and it was night and day difference from this location so my review isnt about all Yotels but this one in particular. The Yotel in Boston is lovely FYI and customer service was top notch. TLDR - sub par rooms, misleading website descriptions, terrible customer service, overall no where near worth the price they charge. I recommend the Archer or the Arlo Nomad (stayed in both and both are cheaper and nicer than this and close by) but I just wanted more space this trip and it backfired. First - I booked a First Class King Junior Suite since I was staying for 7 nights and wanted extra space including a place to sit down that was not the bed for two people. Okay, great that's what the pictures on the website showed and the floorplan indicated, a room with a sofa and extra space for your clothes - when I arrived they said they do not have any rooms matching that description, not that there weren't rooms available, that NO ROOMS EXISTED with those floorplans/sofa. Fine, we will stay in a king room that doesn't have a sofa and smaller wardrobe (wouldn't even call it that), not the end of the world but maybe take updated photos of the rooms to put on your website. The Rooms - there are no lights but the LED light behind the TV and two reading lights on the bed, except for one overhead light in the bathroom. There is a desk in the room with no plugs remotely close by (I had a 6 foot cable and still couldn't sit at the desk with my computer plugged in) and no lights - kind of defeats the purpose of a desk if there isnt any light to work there and you cant request a desk light from the front desk - they dont have them even through they are pictured in the website photos! It was so dark, even with the shades up since it was overcast outside. The window shades are controlled by a panel in the bathroom and only worked half the time. Every surface in this room looks like it had been banged and stuffed to hell making everything look worn and old. Half the items were broken or damaged in the room. The TV/Chromecast was not working, they sent someone from IT who was never able to fix it. Not what I would have expected from a $400+ a night hotel room. Housekeeping/Customer Service - housekeeping never gave us the same amount of towels day over day. When we arrived there were 4 bath towels - perfect for 2 people. Every day after that we received odd numbers of towels. They even took the ones that we specifically hung up to save and use again but then didn't give us a replacement for those. When we called down to the front desk for more to be sent up it took hours, if they sent them at all without us calling a second time. Restaurant - The restaurant/bartender kept mixing up the bottles of wine and sending me the wrong item, idk if they rang in in wrong or not but it took about 20 minutes to get a single drink (glass of wine) and they do not let you charge anything to your room. Despite having a sticker on the mirror in your room - dont be fooled they do not have room service and are extremely slow if you want food to go to take upstairs. We received food but no way to eat it (no utensils) and it took another 10 minutes and two conversations to get silverware. The website is outdated so the menus also dont match if you're planning ahead FYI. Checking out - Had an early morning flight (left at 4am) and was told I could drop my keys in the drop box on the way out - my final bill invoice would be sent to my email the following day. It never arrived so I used the customer service form on the website to send in a request for it. A week later still no response. I tried calling the customer service number and it just sends you in a horrible loop with an AI chat bot who cannot answer deeper than one question and just tells you to email which I had already done. I finally went through reservations to speak to a human and they said they would request my final bill be emailed and confirmed my email and reservation with me - still waiting on it to arrive. Overall I would never stay here again and since this was part work trip and a hotel that my company suggested I have sent them a notice of how unpleasant a stay it was and a suggestion to remove it from our approved stay list.

Yelp
Overpriced ... My workplace tasked me with finding a hotel room under $300 in midtown during May 2024. Yotel was listed on the AAA website at $285/night and I thought, success! Until I arrived and was charged a $40/day "resort fee" plus "one time city taxes". The lobby was futuristic with self check-in kiosks. I was not able to use these and the security detail directed me to a back corner desk where concierge helped out. You ride an elevator up to the 4th floor in order to access a second bay of elevators to access your "cabin" (room). The "cabin" space was clean, futuristic and compact. I liked the purple mood lighting (brand reinforcement). It was interesting to see the smart use of such a small space, including built in wall shelves, closet bar sticking into the room for hanging items, and a reclining bed. (It took a bit to figure that feature out!) The bed was comfortable. It was noisy from outside ambiance continually throughout the evening and night (AGAIN, I do understand this is NYC). The bathroom is part of the bedroom which is separated by a glass partition wall. I was thankful to be traveling solo. I enjoyed the rain shower feature! Don't look too closely or you will notice this space is in need of updating and better cleaning. Food at the Social restaurant downstairs was tasty, but charging $19 for 2 fish tacos is outlandish! I definitely paid for convenience. OY! Overall, decent stay and it was frustrating to get hit with a handful of extra fees upon arrival. I'd stay again but the price would have to be half or less than what I paid on this visit.

Yelp
I stayed at Yotel when they first came to Manhattan, and it was such a fun and enjoyable experience. Fast forward to 2024, and what seemed cool and interesting a decade ago is no longer being maintained in a way that is worth the rates they are charging. Additionally, while the staff is friendly, there is not much that can be done other than a remodel that would make me consider returning. The rooms are rundown and not well-maintained. When I think back to my original stay at Yotel NYC, it was something out of this world. I actually felt like I was in a space pod. The room was clean, bright, and modern. My experience this time was the opposite. For starters, the furniture was worn down, and there were dirt stains, possibly footprints, on my bedsheets. The TV in my room did not function properly, the towel warmer wasn't working, and the neon light around the perimeter of the TV is a parlor trick that was cool 10-15 years ago, but something that every teenager has in their bedroom right now. None of the cool amenities that could make this tiny room worth the expense were available or of value to me. There is no place to conduct business functions, unlike most hotels that have some space carved out for professionals. The one saving grace of this hotel was the outdoor seating on the fourth floor, but that's open to the public, so in reality, you don't have to stay there to enjoy it.

Yelp
Yotel hotel, is a hidden gem, the rooms are clean, service is great, it's definitely an experience! I love the service and most importantly I loved the restaurant on the 4th floor. Johnny the Manager is awesome and his staff is amazing and the food is absolutely scrumptious and incredibly delicious. I didn't want to leave this review because I like to keep hidden gems a secret, but I felt I have the duty to leave this review.

Yelp
I recently stayed at Yotel New York Times Square from December 22-26, 2024, and I wanted to share my experience, which was absolutely horrible. Upon checking into our room, my girlfriend and I were immediately shocked by the state of cleanliness. There was hair from the previous guest, crumbs in the bed, and stains on the desk. We went downstairs right away and requested a new room, which was given to us without any hassle, and we appreciated that. However, when we got to the new room, we still noticed cleanliness issues--but we felt it was necessary to clean the surfaces (counters, desk, sinks) ourselves to make the room more acceptable. As the days went on, I started experiencing some health issues that I have not had before, including nasal congestion, bloodshot eyes, and an itchy throat. After taking a closer look at the shower, I discovered mold growing in the corners of the shower floor. On the morning of December 25th, I spoke to management and they advised me to email my pictures and told me they would contact me for further assistance. To this day as I'm writing this review, they still have not contacted me and I have tried reaching out several times and no one has answered the phone or emailed me back. Absolutely the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I have no other choice than to write a review in hopes management sees this and will make this right.

Yelp
Whew, staying here was a ride. I booked a stay here online several months prior and it noted I would be charged during check in (as standard) vs in advance online during booking. I arrived the day of my stay around 9 am and made my peace about wanting to pay the ludicrous early check in price of $120 (what on Earth) because I really wanted a shower and place to change / freshen up after my travel to the city. They informed me they were fully booked so this wasn't possible. I paid $13 in cash to check my bags (something that has never happened to me at a hotel in my life). I then asked to use their public restroom to change and freshen up. The restroom was dirty with water and toilet paper strewn across the floor and with sinks that didn't all work. Furthermore, the stalls were tiny so I was doing gymnastics to change inside them. I left for my day with the intention to return around dinner time to check in. I received an e-mail from the hotel around lunch time informing me that they had charged my card for my stay (though I had not checked in yet) and that my credit card had declined (though I had been using it all day with no trouble) and that since my card declined they would be cancelling my stay. Incredibly alarmed by this, I called the woman who emailed me twice with no response, then called the hotel itself 3 times with no response. Upon arriving to the hotel when I had planned to check in originally, the electronic kiosk informed me my reservation had been cancelled. I made my way over to the front desk where the clerk informed me it was their policy to charge people in advance of their check in when the hotel was fully booked. I have never experienced this at any other hotel I have ever stayed at. She then proceeded to tell me it was because my card declined that I was having all these issues. I asked to book the same stay again and miraculously!! the card did not decline (I have never had my card decline in my life this is quite literally their machine's fault). The room itself is tiny even for NYC standards. It is also not clean; the air vents are atrocious with dust and mildew and you cannot turn off the AC or heater which leaves this dust / mildew circulating your room the whole night. The bed is remote controlled with a button by the desk that can convert it from a chaise lounge chair to a normal bed. This wasn't explained to me and I didn't locate the remote the first night so I spent that night sleeping upright which was very unpleasant. This hotel also has this two elevator situation that requires guests to take an elevator to the 4th floor and transfer to another elevator to take you to your actual room. Overall, while this location in Midtown is convenient, it is worth it to spend extra and stay elsewhere.

Yelp
A totally horrible experience! Our flight was delayed in DC due to weather in NYC. After sitting at the airport for 10 hours, American cancelled our flight. I had contacted YOTEL to inform we were delayed. I called America. Who could rebook us the next night at 10:20 pm to NYC. Since this was a 3 day trip, I decided we would rent a vehicle and drive the next morning. We got a room in DC and the next morning we headed to the city. We arrived at YOTEL at about 2:30 or 3:00. Which I called and told them after our flight was cancelled, we would arrive the next afternoon. Now I'm trying to be reimbursed for 1 night due to DCA being shut down and then our flight being cancelled. YOTEL will not refund us for that 1 night. Which by the way I paid $2257.17 for, and then was charged another $144.60 for city tax and some other tax. That's is about $800 a night! Then we get into the room, and you can't even walk in the place. It might have been 100 square feet! The beds were terrible, the AC barely cooled the room, and the whole facility is dingy. It's dark and uninviting! Total total total disappointment!!!!! We did enjoy the city and Sloomoo!!!!

Yelp
This place is a dump... also used day pass to book for half day between check out from my original hotel to my flight time in the evening. $79 for half day isnt bad but they charged $45 resort fee when I got there. It's a scam. You can hear all the honking from the cars. Very loud. Room is so small. 10ft by 10ft including the bathroom. It honestly feels like a jail cell. The bathroom is part of the room. There's a sliding divider but it's open at the top. the sink is out of the bathroom and part of the room. Looks and feels like a nice jail cell...Again, hotel is a dump...

Yelp
I have never left a negative review. But, the entire experience here was a disaster. We get to this hotel to check in at 3pm and we are told that same day at 1pm they sent me an email (no phone call just one single email saying the card had issues and so they cancelled my whole stay :)) and cancelled my room due to a credit card issue. I ask if we can rebook a room, answer no, not with the desk they want me to go online and rebook a room that way while literally standing at the front desk. so i do, WITH THe same card they claimed denied, and get a lesser room because of course my room is now sold out. Call my bank, merchant cancellation nothing to do with my card!!! We check in, get not direction on the two seperate elevators you have to take to get to your room. The room? Grimy. Molded caulking in tubs and shower. Smells like marijuana all night long, two flat pillows and you can hear absolutely everything from every other room in your hall. Overall this place is a waste of time, they do not care about your stay, they are unhelpful and I'd reccomend literally anywhere else.

Yelp
I had an out of town guest, we had booked Yotel Times Square which is actually not in Times Square, it's in Hell's Kitchen. Not a lot to do unless you take an Uber or, A Lyft into Times Square . The room appeared to be nice, but things started going south after we settled. The WiFi didn't work, there were no blankets on the very hard bed that messed up my back, there was no comforter on the bed , just sheets . Hospitality complained when we asked to bring more than one blanket, because they had to go downstairs and back up to our room. The hospitality then proceeded to ask if the heat was working after bringing a second blanket. There is no room service, No water tea or coffee offered in the room . The room was the penthouse king, with the amount of money the price tag is, you'd think you'd be treated much better. The bartender didn't understand what a Prosecco spritzer was and I had to tell him? It's a white wine spritzer but made with Prosecco. I emailed upper management, no reply at all. I sent the email 1am Saturday night, Sunday morning technically. It is now Thursday, not one word or even an apology for the yet experience, 2 emails later this There has been zero response. Worst hotel I've stayed in , and definitely not the experience you are told you'd have . We checked out Saturday morning and went to a different hotel, we had a very good time at Margaritaville hotel that was actually in time's square, not the outskirts of Times Square. Save your money and don't stay at Yotel. The Staff at margaritaville made sure we had accommodations without even a second thought, unlike Yotel NYC.

Yelp
Great location and perfect for what we needed it for, which was just a room to shower and sleep in. The room is small, but we didn't need much space. There isn't a lot of closet room, but we were only staying for a weekend so we didn't need it. No fridge or microwave, but again, we were barely in the room. Room was very clean and aesthetically pleasing, the view was great, there was a steamer, ironing board, and a heated towel rack. There were also lights that you could set the color on! Great view and staff was very nice, helping us get taxis and getting us a ride back to laguardia for a flat fee cheaper than a taxi. I had to go to the bar for water because none of the floors had ice or water but not a huge deal. Overall, I liked it and would book again if I come for another weekend stay.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Yotel while visiting New York. It is such a quick walk to Times Square, Hudson Yards, The High Line and so much more. The staff was amazing. They were genuine, friendly and helpful. There was one staff member with a short pony tail, unfortunately cant recall his name, but he was great. we had a few laughs and he greeted us each and every time we entered or left for the day. He went above and beyond. The rooms may be compact but they are perfect if you are traveling solo or with one other person. There were a couple of minor inconveniences during our stay but nothing terrible or that made they stay bad. I believe one of the elevators was down on the last night of our stay, they have 3 total in the lobby. The A/C for the rooms does not stay on while you are gone, so upon checking in we found the room was very hot and the a/c took a while to finally cool down. Everything is pretty self sufficient. You check in at the kiosks, get your key cards. They do have a robot in the lobby for you to leave your luggage to pick up later. I believe the check out process is done at the kiosks as well. There are a couple of restaurants on site as well as vending machines for a quick snack or drink. The rooms were clean but i remember the walls being very thin and you can hear pretty much everything going on. Slept great, the bed was comfy and room was clean. Book your next stay at Yotel!

Yelp
Before I get into the nitty gritty of the review, I do have to mention that all of the employees here were SO NICE. Interacted with several staff members and they were all friendly and lovely. However, that's not quite enough to get this hotel five stars, or even four stars. If I were a young, broke twentysomething, or someone who was literally only coming here to sleep, then this hotel would have been fine. The second scenario was almost true, however I did try to get some work done in my room, and that was a struggle with the spotty WiFi. A couple of times I got the connection error message that told me to move closer to the router, which was hilarious considering that the room was a shoebox and I was in bed only inches away from the desk. What was I supposed to do, sit Indian-style on top of the desk? Lol. Listen, for under $200 a night in midtown Manhattan, I understand that you're not going to get a lot of space. On that note, I must mention that the price point and location were exceptional. The hotel was within walking distance from Times Square, Penn Station, and a ton of excellent restaurants in Hell's Kitchen. Yet, the street wasn't too loud and there wasn't too much trouble getting picked up or dropped off via rideshare, so that was a major plus. Now, for the grievances. The AC was hard to figure out. It seemed to go on and off sporadically. Don't think it was broken, just think it was an energy-saving thing. There's no real closet, just a rod with four hangers and two teensy drawers. For a couple days worth of clothes this wasn't unbearable, but I wasn't super jazzed about having my whole travel wardrobe hanging inches from my bed. The bed folds up to save space when you don't need it, which gives it a real hospital vibe (the white didn't help.) No fridge. :( There were some chipped corners on furniture which made the room feel a bit outdated. Sink was leaky and sprayed out in various directions. Didn't feel the cleanest, but nothing worth storming downstairs for. Shower was nice, and the soaps and lotions were plentiful and nice-smelling. View wasn't bad either, especially at sunset. Walls seemed a bit thin and I vaguely recall waking up to noise a couple times through the nights, but I was so exhausted that I quickly fell back asleep. The gym is super teensy, and odd to find. You have to walk through the restaurant and go through a random door, follow the hallway. There was only one elliptical, two treadmills, two Peloton bikes, and a row of weights and mats, all squished together into a space the size of a hotel room. There weren't ever too many people when I went, but a space that size feels crowded quickly, and it's always a bummer when someone's on the machine you want to use. There's a restaurant and rooftop bar which is pretty nice, but drinks are pricey. Also a theatre which was cool, we saw Drunk Shakespeare there. Didn't have to store my luggage so not sure if that's working or not at the moment, assuming not reading other reviews. Though I didn't experience this part personally, I will say that I would be pretty miffed if my hotel couldn't keep my luggage, in NYC especially. Wasn't a totally awful experience, fine value for money, but this probably wouldn't be my first choice for another business trip. Might consider staying on a personal trip if I needed somewhere cheap to crash to keep costs down.

Yelp
Really mixed feelings, leaning towards bad! Plus: The folks at the front desk and the security guy were very pleasant and took their time in helping everyone they encountered. (Added) Plus: The soundproofing on the exterior facing wall and window is outstanding! You'd never know there was bedlam on the streets below. Neutral: while nice, the room is very small. It's made up of a small desk next to bed on one side, a place for your luggage on the other, and a tv in front. It's a queen bed, with about 3 feet of space for the functions noted on the 3 sides, which by my calculations makes it about a 10x11 living space. Oh, and in spite of tons of traffic around the building, room was almost immune to the hubbub! (Added) Negative: You know when those in the room above you are taking a shower and when those around you are entering and leaving their room. Negative: the Wi-Fi! It's Saturday, so maybe it will be better in the week, but as is, it's nearly non-functional. As I need to do work from the room and an paying a resort fee to in part cover this, it's totally unacceptable. The staff gave the only response they could, a lot of guests, but still not acceptable! In the end, a great location, with the final decision being what is important to you!

Yelp
This place is absolutely RIDICULOUS! $1100 a night and it's so small that like a hospital bed you have to push a button to lay it down. The reason is because the room is SO small that once you lay the bed down you barely have enough room to walk by it because the room itself is slightly bigger than a queen sized bed. It's also very old and used overall. Once again, New York has proven to be the worst city in the U.S. Like the city, this hotel is old, used and dirty. If possible, I highly recommend you stay OUT of the city and travel in IF you can. NOTHING good about NYC except good food choices.

Anthony S.

Yelp
Landed at Yotel thru UAL Voucher. Place is very alive and busy. Front desk was cordial and informative. The rooms are small with no microwave or bar. The hotel is close to Times Square. Beds were comfy. Would stay there again on our next visit.

Yelp
Small room, but clean. Not too many perks. They charge per-bag if you want to leave your luggage either before your check-in time, or after you check-out but before you have to the airport. We stayed in late April. Not very expensive compared to other similar hotels in the area. We did stay primarily because of location, and would be willing to stay again if we wanted to stay in that area again.

Yelp
I get the concept and can imagine the intention and possibility when it first opened but NOW, not so much. A very busy, dirty lobby area. Check in staff were very pleasant. You take the elevator to another Lobby/Main floor area, walk to a different set of elevators to go to rooms/pods. The 2nd Lobby area has dining room and restaurant, outdoor seating for restaurant. Apparently you can't just access the outdoor patio without confirming to sit for dining at the restaurant which was disappointing. The room/pod hallway was narrow. The room itself (1708) was outdated, extremely small and unappealing. I was so very happy we weren't sleeping there. Just a temporary stay until out late flight out. I don't know if everything worked as we only used it as a spot to leave bags and change clothes. I will say we were so daunted by the appearance of the bathroom that we opted not to shower there, we waited until we arrived home that night after flying.

Yelp
The location and connecting parking garage were the only good things about this place. So incredibly overpriced for the condition of the hotel. There is a lack of transparency for pricing and additional fees. We were charged $48 upon checking in and $70 for parking but were told that it would only cost $40 to park for 24 hours as guests...When we questioned the additional fees and parking, we were told it was all due to "taxes". The bathroom was disgusting. The shower and sink looked like they had not been cleaned. Our bed sheets and towels were clean and free of stains and hairs. And normally I'm ok with some scuffing and normal wear and tear, but the desk and bed frame surfaces were just crusty.

Yelp
This hotel was terrible for its price point. The shower was dirty with stains and boogers on the wall. The bed frames were peeling and old with dead skin in the edges. Their walls were damaged on every corner. It just felt dirty and uncomfortable during our entire stay. Additionally, we asked if we can check out at 12PM since it said it was complimentary and the front desk person said yes but didn't note what room we were in (even though I told her). The day we checked out, housekeeping knocked on our door to let us know check out was at 11AM. I had to go down to the front desk again to let them know so we wouldn't get hit with unexpected fees. I do not recommend this spot as it was 400 a night and parking was 50 bucks per day. Stay somewhere else to protect your sanity and wallet.

Yelp
A bit uncomfortable for me. Great staff and very helpful. Just not my type of hotel. Rooms are too small. Limited privacy. No doors on bathroom No fridge. No pool. Location was good. Lots of restaurants around. The food in the outdoors restaurant of 4th floor was yummy.

Yelp
I took my fiancé to NYC over the Christmas and New Year holidays. I decided to book a premium Queen skyline view room on the 18th floor. The room was anything but premium and does not compare to my other my previous Yotel experiences. I'm writing this Yelp review because a Yotel NYC has been non responsive to my complaint. The room was much smaller so it was very difficult to move in the room. Handsoap and shampoo were empty. If they prepared the room...they sure did a good job. The walls and carpet were visibly dirty, and the furniture was worn, dirty, and in disrepair. The TV shelf frame was missing, and the purple ambient lighting behind the TV was not functional. The TV itself was also very small. Mold was present in the corners of the shower. The window hinge was broken, so it let through a cold breeze. This stay did not compare to my other Yotel experiences and I could have spent the money at Hilton.

Michelle Celine K.

Yelp
If I could give this hotel negative stars, I would - no hesitation. It is hands down the most disgustingly unprofessional, disrespectful, shady, and downright scammy hotel I've ever dealt with. Due to unexpected circumstances, I needed to change my booking dates and contacted the hotel immediately. Instead of helping, the staff kept passing me from one person to another, promising to connect me to the manager, only to put me on hold and drag out the process. I've spent over three days trying to make this simple request -- not a cancellation or refund, just a change of dates -- and it's unbelievable how impossible they've made it. Even if a hotel has a strict policy against date changes, the least they could do is be respectful and professional enough to let me speak directly with the manager to explain it.

Yelp
The rooms are small and that's not a surprise if you look at any pictures. The bed was very comfortable. Compactness was not a problem. We were there for the city not the room. But, the toilet is RIGHT THERE and there is no way to avoid hearing what is going on unless your partner turns on the shower for the duration. The decor is pretty futuristic and sleek. The view was great. If you want the breakfast buffet, it is $24 extra per person per day. We skipped it because neither of us want a big breakfast. There is a nice coffee shop across the street. If we were big breakfast eaters, it might have been worth it. The cocktails and cheese board we had at the bar a couple of evenings were lovely. The outside seating was very comfortable. Do not expect to have ice in your room. There were 4 small cups by the sink. I took a larger cup I had with me to the ice machine on Thursday and used that. On Friday, there was no ice in the machine. Saturday morning, we saw someone from management checking out the floor so we expected that to be fixed when we returned. It was not. My husband went looking and found a working machine 2 floors up. Sunday, I checked as we came in. No ice. I look my large cup to the bar to ask for some and was told to ask downstairs as they are separate and she refused to give me a scoop of ice in my cup. Downstairs, I was handed an ice bucket and told that if it wasn't working on my floor and to try the one above or below me. Not only was there no ice either place, there were no ice MACHINES. I went back down and was assured that there would be some 2 floors above me. I know that's small. But, it is also ridiculous. There are 669 rooms in the building with 18 actual floors of rooms.
