Honestly, I expected better. We stayed for 2 nights in a beachfront cottage (n.8) near the beach.
People who come here imagine an isolated, quiet and fairly luxurious place.
On these points, the resort is disappointing, even though it is still better than the hotels located right in front of it on the SV mainland coast.
The cottage next to ours was under renovation, with carpenters working all day using electric tools.
No one thought to apologize for this.
For an entire day we were without fresh water, so no shower and no water in the bathroom, presumably due to the construction work. Again, no one came to apologize or explain. After reporting the issue, we were told that a pipe had broken.
Overall, not much peace and not much luxury.
No one thought to compensate for the inconvenience, and at checkout they made sure not to ask how our stay had been.
The cars and motorcycles driving along the coastal road of SV, right in front of Young Island, are clearly audible and even amplified. It is really impressive. This is obviously not the resort’s fault, but forget the idea of feeling immersed in nature.
Finally, the island itself, which can be walked around in 10 minutes, shows many signs of neglect: infrastructure in poor condition, walkways, viewpoints with broken walls, an abandoned and ruined tennis court that feels like a ghost island. Unmaintained vegetation, abandoned areas, bungalows in poor condition (especially those on the hill), and dirt. It gives the impression of something that once was a luxury resort but no longer is.
Almost all of the restaurant staff are kind and helpful, although not everyone welcomes you with a smile.
After that we moved to Bequia, and it’s much better.
I do not suggest staying in SV , nor at Young Island resort.
