Youth Hostel Basel

Amazing experience. I stayed here for three nights in a room for six. Hostel, surprisingly large building, is located in old and peaceful part of Basel. It's within short walking distance to Rhein river, Munster cathedral and Kunstmuseum tram station. I was given Basel Card at the reception which granted me free access to public transport and 50% discount to all museums. I really liked my room and my bed and I didn't mind the fact there were no curtains. Design of the room is really smart, as personal lockers and sink are separated from the beds/sleeping area with a wooden doors, thus keeping the noise at minimum. To add up, no check-ins are possible after 23:30 which allows you to sleep tight. Toilets and washrooms are on the same floor, just outside of the room in the hall. Breakfast starts at 6.00 am which I found really handy as I checked out early for my flight. Staff was really professional. You can also buy souvenirs at the reception and umbrella as well. I will definitely book again when I come back to Basel. Thank you, Hostel!

Beautiful design hostel, good service. Quiet location with nature. The common area on the ground floor could be improved; there are plenty of chairs but no soft comfy chairs/sofas and few outlets for charging. Breakfast and BaselCard with FREE public transit is included in the price (this isn't on the website)!

Very nice facility. The staff were all very helpful and breakfast was excellent. The hostel manager took a personal interest in assuring a wonderful experience for all. Would absolutely stay there again.

I had a pretty good experience staying at Basel Youth Hostel. The location is convenient, with easy access to public transport and just a short walk to the city center and the Rhine river. The building is modern, clean, and well-designed, with a nice mix of comfort and functionality.The staff were friendly and helpful, and check-in was smooth. My room was tidy and quiet, with comfortable beds and good storage space. I also appreciated the free Wi-Fi and the availability of common areas to relax or get some work done.Breakfast was simple but fresh and satisfying — a good start to the day. I also liked the eco-friendly approach the hostel takes, which added to the overall positive impression.Would definitely recommend it to budget travelers looking for a safe, clean, and well-located place to stay in Basel!

It is an airy and modern hostel , facilities are OK. The experience was generally good except for the fact that this is pet friendly hostel and unfortunately there were clumps of dog hair underneath one of the bunk beds which went all over my clothes and bags. The buffet dinner portions are also very little and seems you are served judged by your size. We got HALF of a burger , while some were served HALF a sausage. Breakfast was self-service and offer good variety.

It was hot….i mean super hot and ventilation was non existent. I also have a leg problem and was given a room with only a top bunk. I found a way to make it work. It was one night only.Bright spot was lovely breakfast at 6am which was a nice treat. It is difficult to find the hostel unless you know what you’re looking for.

Absolutely stunning architecture, we had a room for our own and the windows and heating were impressive engineering works. Incredible this is a hostel, it truly gives the vibes of a hotel! A lot of areas to relax around in the main hallway. Staff spoke 4 languages and were helpful.

This hostel looks less like a hostel but more like a hotel. Super comfortable rooms, shower area and breakfast spread in the morning was amazing and of fresh good quality. It is walking distance from the Basel Bahnhof as well. I had a great last couple of days there. Thank you
