Youth Hostel Bern

The room is big and clean. But it doesn’t come with hairdryer and kettle. However, you can borrow the hairdryer from counter with deposit and they have guest kitchen with microwave too. The hotel is really far from the station which not friendly for travellers with big luggage.

We (family of 8 persons, separate in 2 rooms) like this hostel so much. Friendly and helpful staffs, nice common room (breakfast/cafeteria area) which we can use the pantry for 24 hours. The bedrooms are set in the right temperature (it's centralized) in late of winter's December. The location is also not too far from Bern central station, although you have to use furnicular (short ride tram to hike the hill). When we were there, the room under the beds were a bit dusty. The room designed minimalist with usb plug attach to the wall in each bed, so you can still charge your phone while using in laydown in your bed. Two bunk beds in our room are comfortable enough for family of four, we can still be together in one room while each of us still get a privacy. This hostel located in a nice, calm and quite location near Aare river, the location is beautiful. On thing I could suggest for improvement is to change the check out time to 12 in the noon, not 10 AM, for it's too early to check out.

Hostel was just too warm/hot for me, I was not able to get any rest. I understand that Switzerland does not do AC. But there was honestly no air flow. I would have had a more comfortable rest in a tent outside. ||Breakfast was mid. And there were so many kids. So it was loud. Had to keep my noose canceling headphones on at night. Think this hostel is better suited for families. ||I give cleanliness a 3 of 5. In comparison to other hostels I’ve stayed at. ||I had stayed l in at a hostel in Basel (5 stars), had no A/C as well but the circulation flow was better. I end up checking out early. I didn’t really care for the location as well. Bern its self is beautiful. ||The staff was amazing through!!! They have no control over the facilities.

Great location, just next to the river and below the parliament building. The rooms are spacious and clean. Breakfast is abundant and has plenty of choices for vegan/vegetarian. Recommend.

The great thing about this hostel is the location! It's near the river, with an amazing green area right in front of the building. Rooms are extremely simple, and not very cozy. Bathrooms are ok. Breakfast is quite nice, lacking of fresh fruit, maybe some warm plates as well. The restaurant area is amazing and the common spaces are very interesting ad well.

The hostel is well located, a few minutes away from old town and by the water. The atmosphere is great, staff are nice and helpful, breakfast was delicious and simple. The hostel offers a code for you to use public transportation around the city for free. That was an extra. Highly recommended!

I had a single room, and the whole thing felt like an Ibis Budget hotel. Solid value, clean, and overall just pleasant. Very centrally located, yet quiet because it is in the valley close to the river (directly underneath the Swiss parliament). Nice dinner for under CHF 20, and plentiful breakfast buffet. Great choice, even for business trips. For me personally also nice memories, since I had been there with youth groups many, many years ago.

Breakfast was not as good as some other hostels that we’ve stayed at. The rooms were really hot and the windows open up onto the courtyard where everyone smokes and drinks which means your room will probably smell of weed…….
