Youth Hostel Bolzano

Terrible experience. I've never been to a youth hostel before where I was turned away because I arrived 10 minutes after 7pm, where they "close their computer" and can accept no more bookings. Impossible to reason with the receptionist who was adamant that I had to find somewhere else, and that it was impossible to simply check in tomorrow? I had cycled from Vienna to get here, and along the way was met with nothing but warmth. That is, until here, where I got the cold shower of dehumanization. The spirit of the youth hostel should be to welcome and accommodate travellers, especially those one long journeys. Clearly not the case for this hostel.

Stayed here for 2 nights and it was a good experience. Hostel is very near the train and bus station. We had a room facing the bus station, wasn't noisy. The room was alright, clean, decent size, with free breakfast (minimalist type). My only issue is the shower pressure. It was really really dreadful. It could be only our room, on the 3rd floor. Otherwise, will not hesitate to recommend this hostel for its price and location.

The location is very good, but the street is very loud and cars and trains horn a lot so thats the trade off. Also the price is ok but the AC is not useful at all, since it is fixed to certain temperatures that were too hot for me. In general, you can get quickly to the main transportation for a good price, but I'd not say you will sleep very well.

BEWARE of bed bugs! Had clear signs of bed bugs and the person at the reception agreed. Had to book another place but did not even get a refund. Edit: Now that the accomodation responded to this message (although my name is not Hanski), I want to highlight that they are also lying, and based on the message they do not take bed bugs seriously or do not understand the risks. We have a friend who works in pest control who said the stains are for sure from bed bugs. We were also told there is ’nothing we can do’ - i.e. no refund or new room was offered.

By far the cheapest accommodation in Bolzano. Rooms are clean and vending machines cheap. Breakfast is really later (07:30) meaning I was late everyday for my 8am meetings. Check-out is very early (09:00). Some staff were still in training which made check-in a bit slower. Lockers require €1 to lock and hairdryers can be borrowed at €20 deposit. Overall good experience.

Really comfortable beds, friendly staff, and prime location near bus station.

Rooms are fine, however all the outlets were broken except one in the bathroom. Halls smell of chlorine from being cleaned which is strange. Wifi is essentially unusable in the rooms, but is better on the reception area. At least its close to the bus and trainstation otherwise its not a place to stay at.

If you don’t mind a ton of old people in an advertised “youth” (they need to take that out of the name) hostel, this place is great. Perfect location to take the 350 bus line to the Dolomites. Breakfast was decent enough for the price of the hostel. Everything seemed clean. The rooms are super hot at night and the temperature controls are all locked for some reason
