The dormitory seemed quite good to me and is ideal for solo travelers. The dormitories were neat and clean, and it was less crowded during my visit. We went there just to freshen up, as we were only in Mysore for a few hours. They charged around Rs. 200 per person for freshening up. However, the toilets were not clean, the flush was damaged, and there was only one European closet. Despite these issues, the staff were very friendly, and the place felt safe since it is owned by the Government of India.

Tip- call and check availability before planning to book rooms here. As it is mainly for students who visit mysore for sporting events most of the rooms are pre booked. Some bathrooms don't have door locks in the men's bathroom. And bathrooms mainly showrooms are not well secured with locks. Other than that the hostel warden/manager is the sweetest person and talks with you with a soothing voice really good interaction with him. Fresh drinking water facility available.

The Best Place to stay in Mysore especially for Students. Budget friendly, very cooperative staff, has garden. We stayed for 2 days and visited all places in Mysore. Can accommodate more than 150 students..

I recently stayed at the Youth Hostel Mysore and had a delightful experience. The maintenance of the hostel was impeccable, with clean and tidy common areas and dormitory rooms. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, ensuring a pleasant stay. The location was convenient, with easy access to popular landmarks and public transportation. The breakfast options could have been more diverse. The availability of hot water in shared bathrooms was sometimes inconsistent. Overall, I highly recommend Youth Hostel Mysore for its cleanliness, friendly staff, and comfortable facilities.

Ok here is a detailed review. To start with the hostel is located in a serene location with lot of greenery around however, it is bit far from the city area. Pros - It has secured paid open parking space, CCTV is there however, doesn't cover the rooms inside so your belongings are at risk. They have RO filter water. The local bus stop is just 5 min away. Cons - No wifi, no breakfast (Unless you are a group of 15 or more), Indian toilets that are not well maintained at all. There is no health water faucet in any of the toilets. Only one WC available which also doesn't have a health faucet The management is too pushy to use solar heater for which we will have to waste two buckets water at the start to get hot water later on. One cannot stay in the hostel between 11am to 5 pm which is a major drawback. The Manager is too pushy on that & will ask you to leave. He feels if the guests stay indoors they will use electricity so to avoid that he uses the pretex of cleaning & maintenance which they don't do in any case for days especially the male dorms. The Manager pokes his nose in everything that you do & will enquire every time you move in & out He is more interested in garden maintenance than the room conditions. They got a over inquisitive, interfering & biased Manager who differentiates between the locals and visitors. who will keep check on you every time you go in or out. He will bug you with the rules every now & then making your life miserable. If one is staying for few days it's fine however, if you plan to stay for a week or more the Manager will get to your nerves with his petty issues & ruin your stay.
