Want a stay with a Matterhorn view? You don’t need a fancy hotel. This hostel faces the Matterhorn, and you can enjoy the view right from the breakfast area. If you’re lucky, you might even get a room with a direct Matterhorn view from your window. The amenities are basic but fully functional—everything you need, nothing unnecessary. Excellent value for money, especially since breakfast is included. There’s also an option for a buffet dinner on site, which makes things very convenient after a long day out. For me, everything worked perfectly. The only downside is that the building is not accessible for guests with physical disabilities.

Read this before you book. I experienced dismissive and unfair treatment from the front desk man during my stay. Situation 1: A roommate was snoring so loudly no one could sleep. I asked if I could be moved or if they could stop assigning men to our room for my remaining nights. The response: "Nothing I can do." I had to book a hotel for 2 nights and leave because I couldn't function without sleep and stay with a snoring man. Meanwhile, my roommate from South Korea asked for the same thing - and was immediately moved to an all-female room. Situation 2: When I returned for my last night, I was placed in a room alone with one man. Just the two of us. This made me very uncomfortable. When I raised the issue, the front desk was dismissive and paraphrased my words back to me. Only when I raised my voice did he take me seriously and finally move me to a room with another woman. The pattern: I spoke with other female guests from China and South Korea who had similar issues. Their problems were solved quickly and politely. Mine were dismissed. Same rate. Same hostel. Different treatment. The staff is not qualified to run this place. I hope the owner sees this.

The front desk guy is a fraud. He told me that he can’t see my booking. Then after sometime he told me that he got a mail that my booking was cancelled by the third party. I could check in my agoda app that the booking is very much confirmed and active and I showed it to him. He said he can’t help me, I have to get a new booking and pay again if I want to stay the night. It was almost 7:30 PM in the evening in zermatt. I acted cool, just asked them to give a print out where it is mentioned that I cancelled and that I would take it up with agoda later. But I won’t be staying by paying extra. I told them I would go back to zurich or interlaken to my friend’s place immediately (which I bluffed courageously). After all this, when he saw that he cannot do shit to me, he suddenly said my booking is suddenly showing and is confirmed. Welcome. Requesting everyone to avoid this place. There are better hostels out there in Zermatt.

Other then being close enough to the gondola to walk I would not recommend. Not only is this place up a mountain of stairs far from the train station, on top of that so many people were sick that both me and my partner got sick. Our bunk mates were on completely opposite schedules and snored to the point we couldn't sleep. To top it off I left something not import but wanted to make sure I did leave it there in case I could go retrieve it but they wouldn't email back.

This place is very good and well manage. Zermatt is very expensive place but this hotel is the cheapest, and includes everything. There is a little stairs but honestly it don’t matter . Staff were supper friendly and breakfast was very good and delicious.dinner also provide but charge extra money which is worth it because other places food is way more expansive. Highly recommend this hotel to stay. We stay with our daughter. And there were many family in that place .

The hostel is located in a great place. However, the rooms are a bit small compared to other hostels that I have stayed in. Matterhorn can be seen right min front of the building. They don’t have an in built kitchen.

This is one of the only affordable options available in Zermatt but I’d recommend avoiding it. The property is at 45meter high which became a challenge to go up with luggage. Then when you reach there sadly i had opted for a 8 bed room which was on the 4th floor which didn’t have lift 🥲. Then when i reached my room it turned out to a common tiny attic again entryway via another stairs with laid out communal style attached beds. It was so bad that if i extended both my arms i’d cover other people. You can imagine homeless people sleeping together. The amenities are available outside and it has good breakfast and WiFi was my savior. If you are really on a budget choose something not the cheapest option here.

I only stayed one night. Just like other reviews, it is a walk from the train station. The last part is going up steps to get to the hostel. It is cheaper than hotels. It is expensive for a hostel without kitchen. There was common area with couches and games room. There are vending machines. There are markets but that is closer to the train station. The hostel is clean. The WiFi works fine.

Yelp
This place served its purpose for young travelers in Zermatt. They had separate male and female rooms which we really appreciated. The view from the room alone was honestly worth dealing with any of the flaws. Very big breakfast included and you can eat as much as you want, but it's the same exact things every day so it did get boring, but it's FREE. There was this granola yogurt that I could've easily gotten addicted to so good. They didn't have an elevator and we had a huge suitcase with our room on the fourth floor. There was no one to offer us any help either. Our only option was to take stuff out of the suitcase and then keep it in their free lockers downstairs. Slightly annoying if you're traveling to vacation rather than explore, but I can't complain. There's a bus stop right next to it that takes you down to and up so you don't have to climb all the stairs/uphill lol, but it's only like a 10 min walk from everything.

Yelp
Inexpensive compared to other hotel/hostel/bnb options in Zermatt. Nothing fancy here just the bare minimum to get you through your stay. My boyfriend and I stayed in a private double room. It was clean with its own sink and shared toilets and showers. Free breakfast included complete w bread, sliced meats, cheeses, yogurts, cereals, juices and coffee. Laundry on site also ($) but the machines are quite old and the dryer didn't do much drying. Definitely worth staying here if you're on a budget!

Yelp
Nothing special but I had an affordable place to stay for the night. Breakfast was great. I highly recommend them and I will definitely stay there again and in other youth hostel locations.

Yelp
Not a bad hostel, food is adequate, rooms are clean and the welcome friendly. Winkelmatten is a little out from the village centre and the hostel sits on the side of the valley. I was in a room for 10 facing towards the Matterhorn and woke up to the classic view through the window, something you can't do from the expensive hotels in the village centre.
