I am deeply dissatisfied with how our stay at the Youth Shack in Darwin has been handled recently. After residing in a private room for a month and a half, we were informed at the last minute that we had to vacate our room due to a price increase for the dry season.
The relocation offer made to us was far from satisfactory. We were moved to a three-person room without a refrigerator to store our food, with mattresses that are not at all comfortable for our backs. Furthermore, this new room is located on the ground floor near the pool, where the noise is constant and disruptive, especially during the week when the music echoes late into the night.
Most frustrating is the lack of consideration for long-term guests like us. Having shown loyalty to the hostel and always paid on time, we expected a more respectful treatment. The management could have at least offered us an equivalent replacement room, which would have been the least they could do given our long-term commitment.
We've heard about another building owned by the hostel, but it apparently won't be available for several weeks, which is completely inconvenient for us. We fail to understand why no adequate solution was considered for long-term guests like us, who had established a long-term arrangement without the possibility of being relocated under similar conditions.
In conclusion, we are deeply disappointed with the management of this situation by the hostel. We hope that steps will be taken to rectify this situation and improve the treatment of long-term guests in the future.
