Yuasa Soy Sauce " Factory Tour "

Nice place for a quick visit and photo Op if you happen to drive by on your way to Osaka. The tour was informative and free. They sell soy sauce after the tour too. The Soy Sauce ice-cream was also a very interesting experience. I thought it would be disgusting (still we had to try it), but it turned out pretty alright - a little like salted caramel actually!

I’m so glad I reached out to Yumi at this soy sauce brewery. (their email can be found on the website!) We communicated mostly using Google Translate, but I was able to learn so much about the soy sauce, brewing process and history in Yuasa. It was such a privilege to learn from Yumi and be able to taste their soy sauce side-by-side. She also guided me through a soy sauce making experience using ingredients from their brewery, and you can bring home afterward and brew your own soy sauce. The experience cost ¥1100. And, the soy sauce ice cream is a can’t miss treat. Even if you can’t snag a tour, there is English materials on site and you can do a self guided walk through. Yuasa is totally worth a detour!!

Try the soy sauce ice cream and all the different soy sauce tastes at the end! The tour itself is a little lack luster but very interesting. Had no idea soy sauce took years to make.
