This one was quite overrated for me. Once you get to the entrance you pay for a bus service to go to the top assuming you don’t want to take the long walk. Once you are up there you can see a nice view of the city but that’s about it. The other attractions here are kind of mediocre.

It takes around 45mins of uphill walk to reach the peak from the main gate entrance near 溁湾镇(地铁站). Was a tiring hike up, but there is an option of a tram ride. Hike up and on your way down, you can visit An Wan pavilion, then Yue Lu Academy.

Hiking up Yuelu Mountain at night to catch the sunrise is totally worth it! Reach the viewing platform before dawn, wait for the first ray of sunlight to break through the clouds. The Xiangjiang River and Orange Isle are gilded with gold, the city wakes up gradually, and the plants are fragrant—all tiredness fades away in this soothing scenery.

If you’re a foreign visitor, you can go without making a reservation. It’s a beautiful mountain right in the city. You can enjoy drinks or tea and relax at the top of the mountain. Plan to spend at least 2–3 hours in this area. it’s rich in the history of the mountain, the city, and the nearby university.

Is a lovely place in Changsha City. The Yuelu mountain is good for a walk from the lowland to the top of the the mountain. Along the way you can see old temple very well maintained. The walk to the top of the mountain take about one hour. The are many place to relax and enjoy with young children. You can take a mini bus or the cable chair to the top too.

Obnoxious entry process, you have no idea what documentation is needed and the entry area is crowded. Seems worth it if you can clear all the communist control hurdles
