Yufuin Country Road Youth Hostel

The service they provide is up and beyond. I love how this whole place is set up in such a way for people to mingle. I wish I could have stayed longer and chat with the people. Unfortunately I think it was off peak season so there weren't many people. The owner is generous and friendly, people that stays there are good natured people. The owners sang country road to everyone that leaves in the morning, very heart warming and eye teary especially when I met a wonderful old couple from kagoshima during the wonderfully made breakfast. The common area, which is the dining area, has a scenic view of outside, and the main city that lights up a little at night and beautifully decorated interior. It feels like home. I also enjoyed the indoor onsen too. My favourite bit was the classical music playing in the background, and how accessible it is, like a backyard. If you stay here, return the deed by being good guests.

The hostel is a bit difficult to access by foot if you are coming by public transport. The host brought us out for walks after dinner, with stunning night views of the city. Order breakfast and dinner as their food was delicious. The common space/lounge is perfect to chill, make new friends and read.

A bit difficult to access by foot, if you walk from the bus stop. But you have stunning views from the city at night. The lounge is perfect to chill and read. They have a HUGE collection of mangas.

Super chill and cozy hostel with very nice and helpful owners! Just a bit outside village so it can be hard to reach, in exchange it’s very tranquil and not as crowded as the village center.

Love this place so much. Ryo-san and Tomomi-san are some of the most considerate, passionate and kind people you will get to meet. Their hard work and dedication make this hostel such a warm and calm place to stay at. And don’t get me started on the scenery! Amazing view of Yufuin village and the surrounding mountains! They offer the ride from the train station to the hostel as well, on top of friday night sport activities! Plus, their home made meals are soooo good, the presentation is also very cute. Definitely don’t miss out on this gem, made my stay in Japan one that I will never forget!!!

We really enjoyed our stay here no doubt about it. The hostel was very clean and the onsen was just lovely. Private room was also nice and inexpensive. However if you have difficulty sleeping like I do please be advised that the walls are very thin! There are earplugs on sale at the hostel please bring eyemask! Also be prepared for lots of loud noises from 8am! Staff literally shouting and using the vacuum cleaner. So if you want to relax until check out I don't think this is the place. We enjoyed the owner singing to us as we left very nice touch

I would really recommend the place. This is very nice place it is unbelievable, quiet, beautiful, friendly, welcoming like home away from home. You really can't count the value you have paid. It just take 5-10 away from Yufuin train station by taxi. When you check out there is a complimentary shuttle from the hostel.

I stayed at this youth hostel by myself for 2 nights. I ordered 2 breakfast and 2 dinner during my stay. The food was okay. I was expecting to eat locally grown or authentic Japanese food, but it was more like western food at every meal. My stomach became a little too much and ended up not able to finish meal. I also didn't like that the host decided where I had to sit. Sometime it made me very uncomfortable that I have to sit in front of a stranger. If I knew that may be I didn't include any meals. The hot spring was not hot enough. It was lukewarm. The public transportation from or to this youth hostel is difficult. You have to be flexible to get few busses that are available. I'm not sure if I use this hostel again.
