Google
Tasty food with a unique steam pressure cooking method for the bass fish right at your table. $118 special for the bass approx 2.5 lbs, lobster, ribs, noodles, and veggies. Worth a visit. Good value for the quality. Thank you! Restaurant in the very corner, tough to find parking during high times, hidden additional parking lot in the back.

Google
Purely amazing 😍 The set is well worth the price, all were so tasty and special, this spot has to be popular among gourmets. We loved the super fresh fish soup and the texture of the noodles in particular It's been a fixture for 9 years! Gotta be back!

Google
Delicious food. Great service. Fish hot pot is healthy and you can ask for reduced salt for dishes. Some of the combo deals are cost-effective compared to picking and choosing items.

Google
Tried this place for the first time, fish are fresh and food are overall yummy. My only complaint is their price point, they are pretty expensive, more expensive than an AYCE place and the decor feels like just an ordinary Chinese restaurant. I don’t think I will come back again as I have many other choices if I decided to spend this much.

Google
Very pleasantly surprised with this meal upon a recommendation. A unique way to poach and steam a fish in only a matter of minutes in a delicate broth. The fish (largemouth bass) was cooked perfectly and was beautifully seasoned. After you consume the fish, they bring other items such as meat, noodles and vegetables that you can use the soup as a hot pot to continue the meal. Staff is super friendly and helpful in making recommendations. The meal was a little on the pricey side but I feel there is value in the fresh ingredients and the novel cooking method. Highly recommended especially if you are a fish lover. I think we will definitely be back next time we are in this part of town.

Google
A fun and unique dining experience. If you like fish and hotpot then this restaurant is worth trying! The method in which they steam the fish in front of you is truly unique. With the pot built into the table! The meal itself is pricey as they serve the fish by the pound however it was really good. I did find it interesting that they use all disposable plates, spoons and cutlery. With this price tag I do think we should have gotten better utensils and actual bowls/plates. The fish soup was really good and the whole fish was very filling especially when you add extra veggies and noodles into the fish pot. The soup was a little on the extra umami side but I did enjoy the meal overall!

Google
The fish was newly cached from their tank. I like the fish meat as it was tender and fresh. But I dislike the soup , as obviously they added too much monosodium glutamate. By the way , I was also wondering how / whether they wash the stone pot? 😦

Google
Great tasting sea bass and free-run chicken steam pot. Highly recommended. The only thing is that we also got some gooseneck barnacles and Vancouver clams from the seafood market next door that we also wanted to throw into the pot and they charged us a $15 "service fee".

Charmaine L.

Yelp
Comfortable interior and friendly service. The fish soup is tasty but the fish is too big and a bit overcooked. I will have 75 out of 100. A bit too pricey and don't know how they wash the stone pot..worry the hygiene, but the super hot steam should be able to do the cleaning/sanitizing job. Lol

Yelp
Yunnan Steamed Fish is an amazing experience! The fish is incredibly fresh and cooks in a very short time right in the pot. The fish meat is tender, and the fish soup is delicious. The three of us ordered a set meal that included noodles, ribs, lobster, and vegetables, all of which were excellent. The portions were generous, and we even had leftovers to take home. The staff were very patient, and overall, it was a great experience.

Yelp
Food was great, and the stone pot cooking in front of you is really quite a memorable Experience. The drawback is that it is ridiculously overpriced. For this price you could have a seafood dinner for a whole family at any other good quality Chinese restaurant. Service was good as well. The place was clean, but the food carts next to the tables made it difficult for guests to get out to use the facilities during a meal. This set up can get awkward whenever business gets busy.

Yelp
It was a good experience and the food was good. Wasn't "amazing" to say the least but it's one of those places that if the opportunity comes up I'd go again. Otherwise I wouldn't go out of my way. For a group of 4 we had two fishes. It was a nice change from the usual type of hotpot we've grown up to know. The sauce station is in the back (I did a mix of all plus the soya sauce on the table). They replace the plates once it's full of bones and scrap. This place doesn't take credit cards.

Yelp
Very special restaurant! Might not be a normal Canadian meal that ppl here are used to eat, because it's whole fish dish.(I know a lot of ppl could be annoyed by seeing the whole fish lying on the table, raw and getting ready to be cooked!) When I first time tried here back then, already had a lot of experience eating fish, or the fish soup made from the whole fish. I still got pretty amazed by the taste. That's how good it was to me! I really enjoyed the meal! And the decoration and the service are both amazing and unique. The soup was soooo great! Although kinda far from north York or dt! But once I have chance! Must go place if you can!and okay with fish! :) loveeee itt

Yelp
Key words- fresh, healthy, authentic, diversified, unique, fast cooked, may have long line waiting. I lived in downtown Toronto. It would take me almost an hour of driving to this place. But it's worth it! I have tried three different pots here two weeks in a roll! Love them all. First you would pick a pot base, I tried fish pot, fish n chicken pot, and fish n lamb pot so far. Original clear soup base. All pot and soups were super healthy and rich. It tasted very fresh but not that kind of fishy. Then You could order other ingredients for hot pot as well. I usually got a lot of veggies and mushrooms. It will never go wrong with any of them. It also cooked very fast. The server will control the heat, time and when to put what ingredients for you. So not a traditional hot pot. This could be a very unique experience. I've had all kinda pots and hot pots before. But something like this is quite new to me.

Calvin L.

Yelp
Food is similar to hotpot and I'll admit that the soup is good. However, the price seems way too steep for what we get. The fish didn't seem like it was 2lbs, but that was what was charged. We also ordered a plate of lamb rolls for $6.99. It didn't seem too special. So again, a bit too pricey and service is average with waiters quite young (in their 20's). There's a fish tank in the corner with several green bass fish. There was a good number of other customers that night, so there's good turnover with their food and likely quite fresh.

Yelp
Wah..can't believe this is not on yelp yet. I was trying to look for a review on Yelp but was shocked to see there was none before I went to try this place in the end. This is a very unique food business concept - the first of its kind in Ontario where food is quicklt steamed within a few minutes. For those who are health conscious, this is 100% healthy cooking with no oil being added at all. You select whatever u want to eat on a paper sheet and the staff brings over the food ingredients to be steamed, placing the food on a nearby table cart. Definitely a cool factor with the steamed basket The soup base they used is very unique. Cooking the fish with the soup is a great accompaniment ..the soup was so good, we could not stop drinking it. The soup does gets refilled for the second round of cooking. The restaurant is very small and there are no reservations.

Yelp
This is one of those restaurants where the experience is critical to the meal. We came in around 8pm on a Sunday night, and still had to wait around 15 minutes. When you are first seated, the pot is already boiling. We ordered two rounds - a live bass and a mixed vegetable combo. A waitress comes and cleans the pot for you, which results in a huge sizzle-fest of steam. They then pour some broth and let the fish steam for *exactly* four minutes. I loved how the broth ended up very saturated with the flavour of bass. They then clean out your pot, and add the next round of ingredients. Both rounds were quite delicious. Service was fine at the beginning, but there was a huge pause in the middle (I don't know if we were required to inform them that we were done with the fish). However, our waitress was very conversational, so I would give the service a thumbs up overall. I don't normally go to restaurants for hot pot, and I definitely wouldn't pay upwards of $35/person for such a meal. However, this restaurant offers a good one-time experience.

Yelp
Taste: 4/5 Food quality: 3/5 Environment: 3/5 Price: 2/5 Taste is little bland. The fish soup is tasty and it is good for people on diet. Fresh fish and the staff will clean the steam pot before cooking. 2people ordered fish with vegetables would be around $50 total. Overall, will go occasionally when don't want oily food. Price is quite high.

Yelp
Honestly a little disappointed by this place. Other than the fish soup, which tasted fresh and savoury, the hotpot component was pretty subpar and extremely overpriced. We ordered a 2.5 lb fish ($30/lb), a few veggies and hotpot meats between the three of us. The fish soup was great but I realized it would've came to about $30 pp just for some soup and fish (and that's if you didn't order any hotpot stuff but then you wouldn't get full). The hotpot stuff was very basic and I'd much rather go to an AYCE hotpot place for way better value. Since they throw in everything and cook it in one batch, the veggies were overcooked while the beef tripe and fishballs were undercooked. Service and atmosphere were average. I'm glad I tried it because the pressure cooking was pretty unique but so not worth the price. We were also very thirsty after even though the hotpot soup didn't have much flavour.

Yelp
Delicious high pressured steam fish pot!! If you have no idea what that means, don't worry, neither did I before I had a taste of this delicious yunnan specialty! This is basically like a combination between fresh steamed fish and hot pot - complete with a bunch of sauces to dip to your hearts content. First, they put a fresh fish in the pot with some herbs like ginger, dates, and broth and steam it in this cool bamboo looking contraption which seals in all the goodness. 5 minutes later, voila! You now have a very flavorful fish broth! Second, they put in a bunch of ingredients like veggies and seafood that you pre-pick upon arriving, to capitalize on the left over fish broth . Wait 30 seconds, and you now have cooked veggies to eat a la hotpot style. Extremely healthy and efficient way of eating! Yunnan fish pot, you are my new survival spot for winter.

Yelp
I don't know why everyone says the service is bad. You cannot go into a Chinese restaurant expecting them to cater to western standards of service. Maybe because I went at a later time so it was quiet but it was our first time there and they were very courteous and explained it to my mom and I how to order and how pricing works. It was a little bit expensive for 2 and we couldn't finish all the food but that was our fault for only having us 2. The food was good, service was good. Would recommend anyone who likes steamed fish and soup!!

Jenn L.

Yelp
This place is basically steamed fish + hotpot. They definitely overcharge for the fish but it did taste very fresh. We ordered the green bass and requested to have a smaller size fish so they ended up giving us one that was 1.6 lb. We chose the original soup base which tasted very delicious after they used it to make the fish. We also ordered some other items for hotpot. Pretty standard but the soup made all the difference. If you're into steamed fish, would recommend this place but expect to pay $100+.

Yelp
I came with a friend on Saturday at 6:30 pm and there were six tables of two until us. We were told it would take twenty minutes so we walked around the different plazas checking out menus, wasn't bad at all :) But when we went back these two scary loud customers kind of took over two tables and made this other pair sit at a separate table...The place is pretty small with maybe ten steam pots? All the waitresses spoke mandarin mostly and although being cantonese i understood their mandarin more than their english. They all tried super hard though and were very funny and friendly! Now onto the food! The sea bass is 26 dollars per pound but they told everyone that their smallest was 2.5 pounds, so it was like $75 for a fish. Honestly, i dont think i would do it again because its way too expensive for what you get. The fish was fresh but not worth $75. The original broth was very creamy, light and fragrant. We were definitely not full after the fish. We had a lot of typical hot pot items like meat filled fish balls (very well seasoned and juicy), beef tripe (tender but not soft), udon (thick and chewy) and chinese baby cabbage (perfect to soak up the broth)! These items were all fairly inexpensive. We also got a sweet and sour radish cold side dish for 2 dollars! Such a good portion. We also made our own sauce mix at the back table! No cross contamination no peanut allergy! Only reason its three stars is because of the very high price. I would expect to spend at most $30 per person for what we got to be honest. Indeed delicious though!

Yelp
You'd come here for the novelty of the pots. The food itself is no better than any other hotpot. It's also what more expensive. Don't bring your nice jackets (like wool or dawn) beacsue everything you're wearing will smell really bad from the fish steam. Having said that, the stramer basket things were fun to look at. That's about it. (we visited in january)

Steve A.

Yelp
Bait and switch! We ordered 1 main for fish/chicken combo which is 1.5lb fish + 1 lb chicken , and they end up giving us a much bigger fish and not giving us a heads up that they will be charging more coz they gave us a bigger fish In all fairness, she brought out a fish for us to see, but I don't know how many pounds it is... Until the bill arrived and it was actually 3lbs so they effectively charged us two orders without giving us a heads up Not cool, not coming back

Jennifer Y.

Yelp
My first time trying this - def recommend if you like steamed fish, soup, and new experiences, but it can get pretty pricey (~$50pp) Between 2 people, we shared 1 fish (~3 lbs), 1 order each of beef and watercress, and one side dish of cold garlic cucumber. The watercress is an excellent pairing with the fish & soup, but small portion. The steamer cooks the fish pretty quickly, roughly 2 minutes. Very fresh and good texture. The soup is good but I wish the fish flavour would be stronger - it gets better after the 2nd round of cooking (the beef & veg).

Yelp
Liars. Food was okay. Worst service from a restaurant in the GTA. Staff did the usual seafood restaurant thing where they bring out the live crab or lobster (in this case fish) to show you what they would be serving you. Fish was gigantic, we originally only wanted 1 lb but they said they can only get an approximate sized fish. In this case, they claimed it was 1.5lbs and looked almost larger than the area for steaming. But here's where they scam you. The guy comes out a few minutes later with the fish cut up and it's not even the same fish. Probably less than half the size. I could accept that if they deboned the fish and cut it up but no, this fish was actually different like it got shorter. It was pretty much a different fish that they cut in half and not like they actually deboned it or anything. The bones were all in there. A different much smaller fish was just cut in half for steaming. The fish itself was pretty fresh and the soup had a good flavour. But i don't like being lied to not once but twice. At the end of the meal i asked for the bill and then asked if they took either credit or debit. They claimed they only do cash. For such a pricey joint you would think they at least do debit. So okay, i paid by cash. As i'm getting my change i see the waitress wip out a debit card machine for the table next to me which have what i assume are regulars. No matter how good the food is at a place, I would not want to eat at a place that takes advantage of new customers like this. In this case, i think the food is just slightly above average and not actually worth the quality of service you receive. I later found out online that they do this a lot to people even chinese as my girlfriend is chinese and told me that the waitresses were actually quite rude the whole time. Also, according to some reviews online, if you pay by cash you're supposed to get 10% off, which i did not get. Dont eat here. Unless you want to support this kind of behaviour. Just my 2 cents.

Patricia L.

Yelp
The fish are fresh, Even my baby like it. I like the original favor. The waiters are very nice and friendly too.

Ruby L.

Yelp
The fish is quiet tasty and clean. The service is nice as well. The price is quite expensive if you only have 2 people. The fish starts from $26.8 per lb and even the smallest fish is about 3lb. So you r looking at $70 min. With additional vegetables and noodles it's approx $100

Sophia H.

Yelp
My family and I didn't even get a chance to eat here. We made a reservation (for 14) and the staff double booked our reservations. When we arrived, we were told the big table was for our group. We were there before the other group (their group hadn't even arrived yet, it was just 3 of them) and because they pressured the waitress, she ended up giving away our table to them. They were going to give us a small table that fits 4, for 14 people. This place is basically just hot pot but the cool thing is, you throw in your food and you put the cover on top to steam the food. I wish we got a chance to try this place out but unfortunately, their service ruined our appetites and we left.

Cisi Z.

Yelp
Mindblowingly fresh fish, steamed, with a broth that is just so perfectly umami. Between 4 people, two lbs of fish is more than enough. It's so shocking that none of the seafood was fishy at all despite not having a lot of ginger, garlic, green onion.

Whitney T.

Yelp
Delicious fish soup bases and the fish is very fresh and soft. After your fish dish is finished, you can do regular hot pot (ingredients chosen by a la carte). Usually I don't drink soups in hot pot or noodle dishes but this one does not come off as oily or salty and very easy and nice to drink down. The steam pot also cooks really quickly which is great. Lots of nice appetizers to choose from as side dishes too - spicy squid and fried tofu were my favourites.

Titus T.

Yelp
This restaurant is kinda of like a a la carte hot pot restaurant, the most important part is the soup base, which we ordered a running chicken one. This place would cook all the food for you, and the only thing you need to do is eat. and make your own dipping sauce. So in a way its sorta like a lazy persons hot pot. The restaurants quantity and pricing, means you really should have minimum 4 people for this restaurant, and of course of people who don't mind sharing the same pot. The reason is because it is a bit too pricey for 1 or 2 people, and definitely the food quantity is built for more. The average price should be almost the same as an All you can eat hot pot, however the soup quality is better, and you don't have to cook it yourself. Overall for those who like a better soup quality and a la carte hot pot, this is a place i would recommend they give it a shot. but if you want a large quantity of food for a certain price it is probably not your cup of tea.

Wes L.

Yelp
I highly recommend the steam fish and soup made from the fish. It's so flavorful and definitely worth a try! If you have a big appetite then come here as you can do hot pot right after the steam fish! The way they do the steam fish and hot pot is from what i've seen the most technological advance way to do it! Large selection of items to pick from, which is always good. Definitely would come here again!

Excited2Eat E.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the dinner at this place. Service is good, fairly clean . Because everything is in the steam pot , it only takes 4 minutes to cook, so we got to eat very soon after we sat down. We ordered a pot with fish and chicken with some vegetable , very fresh and delicious ! The soup from the pot is a must try! Anyways , it is a very unique and wonderful experience.

Vanessa C.

Yelp
It's a unique place to eat but the food is nothing too different from other Chinese hot pot place. The service is not very good either. We reserved a table on a weekday at 7pm and we waited half an hour to get seated. Once we got seated, they had to clean the pots while we were seated. While I was watching them clean, I can see how dirty the pot and the lids are. There were leftover bits of food on the pots and lids. I can't see how anything here is that sanitary.... Also, this place is so expensive. For the stuff you're getting, I don't think it's worth it.

Xinyue T.

Yelp
The price was higher than normal, and they even missed a few dishes we ordered but still charge us. Fish tasted not fresh, I'm not sure if it because of the way they cook it, and the fish soup was salty. Not going there twice definitely.

Cameron M.

Yelp
I knew it was going to be some fresh fish when they came and showed me my live fish in a net as I ordered. This steamed pot is so super hot that it allows the fish to be cooked fast and perfectly (and your hot pot after uses the same soup base. Mmm). Fun experience - check my video of the ordeal.

Nipuna P.

Yelp
Great place for some good beer and steam fish. Love the family. Try the steam fish and hot pot!

Ronny C.

Yelp
I really think it's one of the most interesting concepts for eating steamed fish. Took them a total of 4 minutes to make the fish in the pot. Remember to drink the soup after the fish steaming.

Echo F.

Yelp
The server told us their pos machine has no signal and we must pay cash?? Interesting experience

Carrie W.

Yelp
I wish I was able to comment on the food, but the service we received was so poor we left to go eat somewhere else. My husband called five days in advance to book a table for seven people (six adults and one baby) for my father's birthday. When we arrived there was no table ready for us. Three separate servers came to tell us there was no room and gave us various suggestions including: wait, split up our party into two different parts of the restaurant, or bring in three extra chairs and have us sit at table meant for four. Of course all suggestions were absolutely unacceptable to us. When we asked why they were so ill prepared especially as we had called early in advance their excuse was that there are constantly customers coming in and out of the restaurant. Our reservation was for 5:30pm, well ahead of the dinner rush. What a disappointment.

Madison H.

Yelp
For a price tag of over $100 for two people i would expect a 5 star dining experience but this was far from that. Worst place ever wish i never came here and totally regret my decision. The food here is mediocre. I mean they steam fish in a soup base you select in front of you. Not sure why people think it's such a novel concept. However not worth the price tag - the bill for fish, soup base, and the sides of cabbage and vermicelli, with coke came to over $100 for two people. $100 are you kidding me!!?? The service sucked for this kind of a price tag, the owner was rude and barely spoke English. They didn't explain to us how we were supposed to cook the sides since the sides were brought in after they had already cooked the fish in with the soup base. They were very rude and immediately turned argumehtative when we asked if we could return the sides - seriously arguing over $5 worth max of sides when we're already paying over $100, so in the end we ate that cost even though we didn't even touch it. hello? service anyone? TLDR do not spend over $100 for horrible service and food-court caliber food that you can get elsewhere for less than half that.
