Neighbourhood spotlight: Kuramae, Tokyo - SilverKris

"A cosy restaurant centered on nekase genmai, a traditional brown‑rice technique that keeps rice in a heat‑insulated jar over several days to achieve a soft, slightly sticky texture while retaining the nutritious bran. At lunch it serves home‑style dishes built around this rice; by night it shifts into a relaxed gastropub offering sake and domestically produced wines. An adjacent shop stocks artisanal foodstuffs—from miso to sweets and brown rice—underscoring the restaurant's seasonal, produce-led approach and ties to local food traditions." - Jessica Kozuka

Fermented brown rice (Softer, tastier, and easier to digest) was amazing tasty and must try it! The lunch plate which named “Teisyoku” There were many Japanese style meals “Washoku” If you really like it, try ASAP :)

Had an amazing meal here, the people were so lovely and the food was so creative and delicious, the portions were little which was great as it gave us the ability to try lots of things, the deer was incredible, something I usually wouldn’t have. And the olive oil icecream was amazing! We did book which I would suggest

The current chef serves a superb meal. While in Japan I visited and eat twice. The menu is amazingly put together and every dish is fantastic! My girlfriend and I enjoyed chef Ryo’s recommendations in a course style. The menu was focused on Enzo deer and it did not disappoint as some of the best deer I have had in addition to the many other plates. Overall a well-priced menu. The top notch Hitachino beer on tap also takes the cake! The store itself is cute and has a nice selection of interesting foodstuffs.

Local Washoku (japanese traditional food restaurant) with reasonable lunch prices and healthy&delicious self-serviced set meals! The rice is definitely the most attractive part of the food, sticky, crispy, seasoned with salt al gusto 🍚 There was a very long queue before opening the store on a normal weekday, its better not to come if in a hurry, as the profile of people coming tends to be those that don’t want to rush. Highly recommended for comfortable food and definitely worth the wait! Its better to prepare cash to pay 💴

Old fashioned, simple, healthy and light. Perfect breakfast / brunch to start the morning and a welcome break from the usual Tokyo fare.

Nice staff, food (plates to share) and sake. Relaxed atmosphere. Could not ask for more after a first intense day visiting Tokyo.

I don't know Japanese at all, only a little English. The shopkeeper was extremely patient in communication! The meal was also very delicious! Thumbs up!
