The Best Way to Travel Through Northern Morocco Is by Train — Here's How to Plan Your Trip

"The Yves Saint Laurent Museum in Marrakech offers a tranquil experience amidst the hustle and bustle of the city. It is one of the more peaceful areas in the city, alongside Jardin Majorelle." - Elle Benson Easton

"The Late Designer's Final Gift to the City Constructed by Studio KO architects to echo the weave of fine cloth, the Yves Saint LaurentMuseum opened in late 2017 to great fanfare. It was particularly poignant because Pierre Bergé, the longtime partner and business head behind the late designer, had died less than a month earlier. No doubt he would have been delighted with what he saw, for the museum is a game changer with its fresh approach to documenting a subject. Many of Saint Laurent’s lauded haute couture prototypes are on display here against a sleek black backdrop, which makes them appear to almost float across the room, and the library is one of the best in the world on the subject of fashion. A separate auditorium hosts seminars, film screenings, and other events, and the café—simply called Le Studio—has become the lunch favorite of the city’s glitterati. Saint Laurent, you can’t help but feel, would have approved."

We bought the package tickets and visited the gardens and bookstore - well worth the price. Everything was immaculate. All of the plants were healthy and in bloom; it was amazing how plants from different climates were flourishing in this one area. The garments on display were a great representation of YSLs career and creativity. We went at the beginning of 'low' season and still waited in line. You must purchase tickets online; there are no ticket sales at the window.

You need to prebook tickets online, which helps manage the number of visitors. It’s a beautiful garden with a wide variety of cacti and other plants. Thanks to the timed entry slots, it never feels too crowded, allowing you to explore comfortably at your own pace.

Absolutely stunning place! A must-visit for fashion and art lovers. The museum is elegant and inspiring — from original sketches to iconic outfits. Peaceful, stylish, and full of Yves Saint Laurent’s spirit. Don’t miss the Majorelle Garden next door!

The YSL Museum is a well-curated space that offers a glimpse into the world of Yves Saint Laurent and his contributions to fashion. The building itself is elegant and modern, and the atmosphere feels sophisticated, which fits well with the brand’s identity. You’ll find some iconic pieces from his collections, including detailed sketches, accessories, and garments that showcase his creativity and craftsmanship. That said, the museum is quite small and the exhibition can be completed in 30 to 45 minutes. While the pieces on display are beautiful, I found myself wishing there was more depth—more storytelling, background, or insight into the historical and cultural context of his work. There’s a small film that plays, which helps set the scene, but overall, the experience felt somewhat surface-level. There’s also a boutique and bookstore at the exit, which are nicely designed but definitely geared toward high-end shoppers. In short, if you’re a fashion lover or someone who appreciates design, you’ll likely enjoy the visit—but manage your expectations. It’s stylish and well-presented, but not particularly extensive or interactive. A pleasant stop if you’re already nearby, but probably not a must-see for everyone.

Visited in the beginning of May. Time to visit: Combined visit (Gardens, Berber museum and YSL museum) - minimum 2 hours, better 3-4 hours; Separately: - Gardens - 45 min to 1,5 hour - Berber museum (in the gardens) - 20-40 min - YSL museum - 40 min - 1,5 hours Also you can do a break in a cafe after you visit Gardens and Berber museum (inside of the complex). Tickets - only from the official website a few days in advance (we bought 3-5 days in advance). Ticket office on the spot was closed. Better to arrive 15 min before your assigned time. There is a queue of people with the tickets but it goes fast (we waited around 10 min). Yes, the gardens are full of people, but the staff is putting effort to arrange the visit comfortably. YSL museum was not so crowded.

The magical home of YSL. It is amazing— the diversity of plants, the astonishing colors and architecture, the precision and attention to details are unparalleled. But the crowds! The sheer volume of people is simply exhausting. We were in Marakesh during a “shoulder” season and we had a private guide that allowed us to bypass the lines. But even so, to stop and admire something took an effort of the will. So be forewarned: earlier or the last ticket of the day might be your best bet. Also splurging on a guide might be a good option. Regardless don’t miss the excellent film.

It's a gem if you come and visit Marrakesh, it's neat, modern, minimalist and very interesting. Would recommend booking in advance, oh and no snack/water allowed inside. (I wasn't aware of this, and due to hot temperatures people tend to have something to drink)

Loved!!! If you're into timeless fashion, this is a must visit! I loved the Hamish Bowles Collection. Unfortunately, we can't video or take photos, so you just have to go yourself. You won't t be disappointed!!
