Very nice location, plenty of pubs and bars around the corner of poblacion. At the back of powerplant and Rockwell makaty. Very high end society. Foreigners are staying, mostly working. A hub for work from home tourists. Clean but the bunk beds are high, steep stairsbeds. Accommodating staff. The ambiance and Feels of hostel is like near the beach. Walking inside the hostel makes me want to go out for a swimmiñg in the beach. It feels sunny.

Pros: - We arrived at around 12pm and was allowed for early check-in since it was not a busy day that time - Nearest hotel to all the food stops we love and would love to try - Free welcome drinks - Free breakfast is a plus - Cheapest extension fee. We had to extend our stay to try out more restaurants lol - If you are social, you will love their Walking Tour where you could meet other people. They also have Rooftop Bar and Sundeck bar where you can enjoy a drink or chitchat with other guests. Cons: - Upon check-in, they asked for IDs of all the guest who will be staying. Then, they instructed us to fill out the MS form in their tablet (each guest). I think they scanned our IDs (not too sure) which should already be enough, however, they still required us to leave 1 government ID and provided a claim slip for it upon check-out. I find the registration/check-in process a hassle on our part. Imagine if you are a Group of 5 or Up and all of the guest would need to register and provide their IDs. - You will need to return their hair dryer right away once done because other people might request it which is a hassle because they should have had enough hair dryers for their guest because not all guests is expected to bring hair dryers since it is space consuming in luggages - One of the Towel Rack in the restroom is broken - There is no drainage near the toilet bowl. You will need to make sure to use the Shower curtain correctly when taking a bath (should be draped inside the shower area) so the water will not accumulate in the toilet area

3rd time in the country and I always stay at this hostel, perfect location and great rooftop bar. The volunteers are all amazing especially JUJU! She’s the best tour guide for the walking tour! I’ll be back for the rooftop view and JUJU!

I enjoyed my stay here. Nice location in Poblacion, friendly staff, free cocktail on the rooftop bar, lots of daily activities that you can join, comfy beds, and amazing breakfast! I'll definitely choose them again. Highly recommended.

We came for new year's, excited because it had a rooftop bar and we heard there were fireworks! Unfortunately we were told at 9pm that there was a private party and we weren't allowed on the roof, this had not been communicated at check in. Check in also took 40 minutes due to people pushing in the line. Sadly, the 8 bed dorm also only had one shower and bathroom and beds with no curtains. Finally, we went to bed around 1am and it was like being in a club the music was so loud, it was new years but we were told this would continue until 5am. I went down and spoke to reception about getting some money back as we were very disappointed with the roof and the noise and there being no walking tour that day. She was really nice and kindly said we could have a refund. To our surprise 5 minutes later my wife was met by a security guard being told if we wanted a refund we would have to leave (not what I had been told and it was 1am on new year's Eve!) I wouldn't come here, maybe it's better not on big nights of the year

We want the Karaoke! I’ve made a lot of amazing memories singing with my friends. It’s going to be a BIG loss if they put it down. Z hostel wouldn’t exist without it.

Pros : It's in the middle of the Makati area, accessible to bars, nightlife life etc. Along with accommodation, it has several options for guests. It has a dance floor on the ground floor and, karaoke bar on the terrace. Every evening, they conduct city walks for free. It has an in-house restaurant with good options. Morning breakfast is also good. It's a continental breakfast. There is an ATM inside the property, which is very convenient. Currency exchange is a little far. Cons : Sometimes the music will be loud. Especially on the weekends, it disturbed my sleep, and I was disappointed with that; otherwise, everything is good. There are no Indian restaurants nearby, I need to walk for 15 minutes every day to have lunch or dinner.

The redeeming quality is the view from the roof, but they have implemented an over the top RFID debit chip wristband system which is visitor-unfriendly, especially considering the drink selection is not particularly impressive nor was the vibe of the place. I've heard this place was the hotspot prior to the pandemic but nowadays they could certainly do more to win back their business.

Never stayed at the hostel, so my review will be based on the Rooftop bar. The rooftop bar is open every night with a minimum access of 300 per person, consumable on drinks, though only one RFID is needed per group. Drinks vary in price, but for Makati it is quite fairly priced. It used to be a hidden gem, but now it is quite main stream to locals and travelers. On weekends, they have live performances by local bands and artists. Their rooftop is covered so rain or shine, there is not a problem. The rooftop area is a little small, but it makes easier to get everyone. Definitely a must place to check out if you want a chill place to hang out for the night.

Z Hostel has private rooms, an all-female dormitory, and a mixed dormitory. For anyone checking into the dorms, expect what it's like to live with other people. There's so much tolerance needed as you don't know the preferences, habits, and hygiene of each of your roommates. Plus, you have to be open also to the people you will be with. I remember that last time I stayed at a hostel in SG, 2 of my roommates got into a big fight because one girl was talking to her boyfriend on the phone at 3AM. Yeah, we all didn't talk to each other after that. Which is why I booked their private room for a mini-staycation! The room is quite big and there is enough space to move around. The bed has a huge space beneath it for your luggage. I also loved the mattress and the blackout window shades! Also, they provide bathrobes which is a plus! Unfortunately, there is no television and refrigerator included in the room. So, it's really just giving you the basics which is expected since you will be out most of the time. Be warned! The private rooms are located 2 floors below the party zone, Roofdeck Bar. So, expect some loud music and noise from party goers. One of the pros of staying in Z Hostel is that you'll be in the middle of a bustling city and it is a good place to get some rest before your next trip outside of Manila. Plus, breakfast is included in the rates, so it is a win! The cafe is open 24/7; you can go down to the first floor and get something cooked for yourself. Around the vicinity, you have easy access to Poblacion and a number of the best restaurants and establishments that Makati has to offer. All at a walking distance away. I will definitely book again when I'm itching to have a staycation again! :)

Tucked away in the busy streets of Makati, this hidden gem of a place is definitely worth a visit. My friend and I have once decided to meet up here right after our work just to chill (it was just a walking distance from where I was working then). I never stayed in the hostel so my review is only for the rooftop bar. It has a nice view of the city and the drinks and foods were really cheap. The atmosphere was very casual and chill, especially during early at night. By the time it was getting late, more people had been coming in and the scene was starting to feel more like a club with loud music. Highly recommended if you're looking for a relaxed place to chill and have drinks.

Went here one night with some friends. When you enter you buy a wrist band and load it with money to buy drinks up at the rooftop. It's pretty cool. The rooftop has a great view. The night we went it was pretty crowded. Hard to move around and move from one side to the other. They have a one CR so sometimes there is a line for it. Also you have to go up and down via elevator. That might take a while too. The music isn't bad. I would say the people who go here are pretty cool. It isn't really a place to dance but more to meet people. They come from everywhere. I wouldn't say this is a place you could stay all night to drink/party but it is definitely a good place to start. Then when you get hungry you can always go down the street to El Chupacabra. Yum! Fun place to go and meet people. :)

Chill place to hang out with friends. Reasonably priced booze and cheap bar chow. The place gets pretty packed on a Friday and may be a bit hard to get a spot. Most guests end up standing. They use a reloadable RFID tag on a bracelet for an easy pay-as-you-order system. The view is great and the weather was nice when we were there. As long as there's wind, it won't be too warm.

The all female dorm is super clean. They have a make up mirror with lights which is a fun bonus. The shower in the female dorm is very nice. Female dorm is on floor 6 which is not ideal but OK if you want to lose some calories:) There is a rooftop bar which brings locals and travelers together at night. Such a fun time and drinks are quite cheap with chill music. If you're trying to get some sleep you should probably not room on the 6the floor. They serve delicious food as well and a convenient location for all your needs. There is a laundry place a block away as well as a dermatologist (which was super cheap compared to the states). I really enjoyed my stay here and the people I've met were awesome. I do recommend you check this place out!!

This place is located near the edge of the Manila red light district, a local told me. And I was thinking that I had made a mistake to book a room here given that I was travelling alone, but turns out the red light district here is mild and not dangerous! It is located very close to the financial district so it's well located too. The street on which the hostel is on is a little alley, and you can find a street food vendor or two. There is a doorman who opens the door for you and a travel planning agency right next to the main door if you need any last minute planning. On checking in, I saw that one of the workers at the front desk had the street food that I didnt recognize so i asked her if she was good and she offered it to me to taste hahah super nice of her to do that! Check in process was smooth and easy. You are given a key card for access into the room and a bracelet with an rfid tag. You load it at the front desk and you can use that to pay for drinks at the rooftop bar or the cafe on the first floor. I didn't hang out at the bar but I've heard that it has cheap drinks and gets pretty crowded with people who aren't staying at the hostel too. The cafe on the first floor has free water and a pretty good filipino food selection. I got their garlic rice and pork sisig, which was sooooo gooooddd. Small serving but with the rice it was enough for me! If you don't eat in the cafe, you can also eat in the game room or the many communal spaces that they have. The rooms themselves were clean and the bed spaces were decently sized. I was on the top bunk and there was enough overhead space that I can sit comfortably. Lamp and outlet was available by the head of the bed. Each room comes with lockers and BONUS it comes with an outlet inside the locker so you can keep charging your electronics while theyre locked up. The showers are located within the room (for a dorm room) but there is also toilets and sinks located in the public areas.

Z Hostel is a backpacker's dream. They offer top-notch amenities for backpackers who wish to explore Manila on a budget. Although, personally, having done some backpacking myself, I'd pay less than what they cost, but then the amenities of the places I've been really do not compare to Z Hostel's. Located in the middle of busy Makati, it is ideal enough to be able to get around easily. Its immediate vicinity is quiet enough not to be disconcerted by Makati's chaos. A highlight is their roofdeck, where everyone - hostel guests or not - can come to unwind and socialize. Which is an attractive feature, even for a local like myself.

The Z Hostel is one of the newer traveler and budget friendly accommodations in Makati, and arguably the best one of them all. Apart from being situated a few minutes' walk away from the Makati CBD and the Buendia MRT station, it is also right next to one of Makati's cheap-chill hipster hang outs, Polaris street (Where household names in Makati grub are located like El Chupacabra, H&J, Red Light and Tambai, which is run by the same folks at Z Hostel). Z Hostel also hosts a variety of events, such as the live acoustic sets during their weekly Sunday Slowdowns, and collaborations with popular startup, FlipTrip and online collective, MUNI for sessions on traveling and sustainable living. And the best part about Z Hostel? Their rooftop offers a killer view of the Makati skyline and is open to anyone!

I've never heard of Z Hostel until my friend invited me to come hang out there. While I am no stranger to hostels, I thought it was a bit cool to open up the roof deck of a hostel so outsiders or those not booked can party or just have a good time. When we got there at around 8 and made our way to the hostel. I think it's a really cool idea that Z Hostel employs using RFID when buying drinks at the roof deck. The deposit is P200 and the maximum is P10,000, and I think this is a great idea and hassle free when you start to enjoy upstairs. The roof deck is divided into two portions - one area on the right is where live music can be heard and a DJ booth is set on top; on the left side, well, it's a pretty chill place - you can just plug in your music and play it for everyone. That side also houses their barbeque pit so I think that's a cool vibe of something like a roof deck bbq party. I was kind of hungry, so I ordered their cheeseburger. The beef was pretty good and grilled on the spot. The patty was also thick, so that burger gets plus points. What I wish they didn't scrimp on though was the fries. After eating, I went to get a bottle of beer. I was so shocked at the price! Considering it's a place located in Makati where everything is synonymous to expensive (haha!) I felt like I was drinking a beer in Quezon City! Overall, I liked Z Hostel and I think it's a new cool way to hang out - but I bet it would be more awesome during the latter part of the year where the weather is cooler.

Z Hostel is one of the newer hostels to arrive in the backpacker area of Makati. It brands itself as a luxury hostel meaning the amenities and features are better than your typical hostel. You'll pay more here than other hostels in the area but it can be worth the extra money especially if you have a little extra to spare. The room I stayed in had eight beds (bunk style) and each bed had a towel rack and outlets for your phones or laptop. The air-conditioning was just the right temperature and the beddings cozy. There was a bathroom with shower inside the room and lockers to keep your valuables in. During most nights the roof deck is open to the public and you can socialize with locals and other guests. They also serve grilled food and cheap beer. The view is quite amazing during sunset and you can see both the Makati and BGC skylines.

Located in the increasingly hip red-light district of Poblacion in Makati is a high-end hostel for the weary backpacker longing for a goodnight's rest. Z Hostel opened recently this year and has generated quite a buzz amongst local and international folks alike for being a great place to meet new friends and party hard. On the rooftop of Z Hostel sits a bar with a sprawling view of the gritty Burgos area and the well-developed Rockwell neighborhood. The rooftop is only open to guests outside the hostel at 5pm but for those staying in, they can make the rooftop their own personal lounge or tanning area. Sundown is when the real party starts. For those looking for a casual spot to kick a few beers with good friends, and the possibility of meeting interesting backpackers, Z Hostel is truly the place to be.

There's a really nice energy about Z Hostel: it's located in this rundown part of the richest city in the country, on a shabby little street, and built on top of a famous old brothel. (Don't worry, they changed ALL of the sheets!) There's so much story and character to the place, and you find that out on a visit through one of its nine active owners (one of them even lives there already) or its enthusiastic transient foreign residents. It's open to the public through its small roof deck on the 7th floor of the building, which has become a casual hang out for lovers of cheap beer, adobo flakes, and chicken skin. The view is pretty cool from there, which makes it a nice spot to catch the sunset as the bar opens at 5 p.m. or listen to live acoustic acts with the city lights in the background. It's really cheap but well-maintained, and let's hope it stays that way. But that takes a community effort, so mind your manners when you're there, don't throw your cigarette butts on the floor, and respect everybody else's space. Parking is going to be a challenge so carpool when you visit; if Don Pedro is full, take a chance with parking on Kalayaan Avenue. They live by the hostel code (and they actually get it right) and it's an open place for conversation, so be a good local and share a story or two with the foreign residents of the place. Oh, and don't feed Elle, Z's friendly pit bull, even though she'll give you her most adorable good girl face when you're holding a garlic sausage in your hand!

Z-Hostel is a notch above all hostels I've been to (or seen in movies!). It's luxury at its finest with all the makings of a hostel, if that makes any sense, it's a refreshing idea! In the middle of Makati, in the Burgos area, it's the perfect location for tourists and locals alike. The rooms are give you the basics but with extra privacy and you can be sure their sheets are clean! I haven't stayed a night here but I have been to their rooftop! If you've read my past reviews you would probably know how much I love rooftop bars! Its laid back, chill vibe on this low-rise, luxury hostel is what makes it different from the rest. It's great on late afternoons when you wanna chill with a beer and an excellent view. They have events on Wednesdays and offer Sunday Slowdown with BBQ before heading back to reality the next day. They're also open everyday after 5pm if you're looking for a place to hang, I promise you'll fall in love with the vibe!

While the facilities are new, the AC is cold, the wifi is okay, the beds are okay, and they provide lockers, I don't understand why they hire people to open the doors for you when they can automate them, and use the money to install HOT WATER showers. If cold water showers are okay for you, then this place should do it. The loud music from around did not bother me, but my friend couldn't sleep till the wee hours of the morning. I wouldn't mind returning if they got hot water. HOT water.

Two night stay here before I go to Bali. Place is nice, clean, quiet. In the heart of the city. Poblacion area is a very hip place. I got the Brooklyn vibe out of it. Rockwell PowerPlant mall is 10 min walk (not bad at all). The roof top bar is a big big plus! Thanks to all the staff that made my stay amazing.

For a hostel, you would be quite surprised to find such a nice accommodations. Rooms are super clean and the private rooms have their own bathrooms. Very spacious and comfortable rooms with an amazing rooftop bar that often brings in live performances late into the night. The bar drinks are not that impressive however and taste like they were just thrown together drinks but for a hostel, you can't complain! I say stick to beer anyways.

Behind the modern mixed-used development called Rockwell Center is a grittier place where different character and places come to life, especially at night. Commonly called Burgos, it is the red light district of Makati. It is alive with bars, restaurants, nightclubs, pubs, sidewalk happy hours and bizarre boxing matches. But one gem stretches way above the chaos, and it is inside a--hostel. Z Hostel has been getting a lot of attention lately not because of the prices, hospitality or amenities. Its rooftop bar serves as an escape from all the honking cars, aggressive "ladies" and blaring music in the area. Immediately upon entering the place, you already get this unique chill vibe that the other bars don't carry. Chill out music, skyline view, barbecue grill, friendly faces--I kind of felt like I was at the beach. Sometimes, there are live blues performances that only add to the good vibes scattered around the place. If you aren't in the mood for something crazy, Z Hostel is always there to give you a relaxing moment--or does it always?

When one thinks of Hostels, what immediately comes to mind is the slasher flick where the girl with the biggest ugh, melons die and the nerdy girl gets to live. Thankfully though no remake has been made and hostels in Manila have been modified to a hipster vibe causing travelers to take a second look at the Philippines. And of course, when it comes to hostels these days the first name (or letter) that comes to mind is Z Hostel. Z Hostel is more than just bunk beds and shared bathrooms, it's the first and only luxury hostel in the country with live music, booze and barbeques happening on its roof top every weekend. It's fun and perfect for any sort of traveler be it a soloist or a big group, because one can surely expect to meet people of the most interesting kind as this Hostel draws the best of Manila: its people.

Spent a night out at Z Hostel's Rooftop and it was pretty kickass. Nice ambiance, steady beats and a lot of familiar places. It's great alternative to clubs cause it's a really chill place where you dont have to be screaming at each other while trying to have a conversation cause they music is all right. Drinks are affordable and what I liked most about it was that I didnt have to bring out cash every time I'd head to the bar cause they'd issue you this bracelet with credits in it, which made it so convenient. It's definitely worth recommending and coming back to if what you're looking for is a steady night out

First things first, I need to make clear that I'm writing from the perspective of a customer that's attended one of Z Hostel's events, and not as someone who's stayed in the place overnight. I was having dinner with a friend last week when she mentioned that Z Hostel allows outsiders inside for their bar/rooftop events. Wow. That came as a surprise to me as I'm more familiar with the hostel culture that employs the "no keycard, no entry" rule. Z Hostel is impressive in scale and decor. It's obvious that this is for the traveler who refuses to slum it but won't give themselves the satisfaction of checking into an actual hostel, so they settle for a place like this instead. With the mix of foreigners, great music, and rooftop ambiance that Z offers, I can only predict that the best is yet to come for these guys.

Living in Makati, there's always this insatiable hunger to look for a cool new place to check out or hang out. Z Luxury Hostel is a gem tucked on Don Pedro street of the infamous P. Burgos red light district. Don't hesitate to explore this colorful area because there are definite treasures to unravel. When I travel, I normally wouldn't stay in a hostel. As much as I've tried before, I could not find the true backbacker in me. But Z offers a more dynamic proposition. Thirty (30) air-conditioned rooms with the option to stay in a private room, an all-female dorm, or a mixed dorm. If I wasn't from Manila, I wouldn't mind staying in a cool place like this with all the basic necessities included in the price. I've hung out in Z with some friends for the laid-back vibe and welcoming atmosphere it offers. On the rooftop, there is a quaint space where you can enjoy a conversation with your friends while sipping on some really affordable drinks and grilled snacks, listen to some mixed music (really depends on who's plugged in their playlist), and stare out into a different view of Makati. Everyone is welcome and the folks you meet are a mix of local and expat travelers too. I would have to say that at any point of the night, whether you come alone or with friends, you're bound to strike up a conversation or say hi to someone new because this place promotes a culture of unpretentious, come-as-you-are, no frills vibe. Genuine, just like how I like my friends and people around me!

First time I got in Z Hostel, I wasn't too sure whether the 'hostel' part was correct. The interiors are way cooler than your usual hostel, an industrial-hip feel. I really liked how the interiors were laid out, its like a grown up dormitory without the clinical feel to it. I'd definitely say this place is Pinterest/Instagram-worthy. Aside from the interior design, I was pleasantly shocked to see a nice working bidet in their restrooms! It actually beats the posh 5-star hotels who have yet to catch up on this. If you want to chill and enjoy a nice sunset view of Makati then I suggest you head over to their roof deck where I must say, the steady beats and the ambiance definitely made me want to pass out and just relax.

I stayed at Z Hostel in February 2017 and absolutely loved my experience there. In the solo rooms, there were even soft robes for me to wear! What an amazing and affordable experience. I am not usually a hostel type traveler, in fact, was staying at a luxury apartment complex before deciding to stay at Z hostel for the rest of my stay due to how fun and well equipped this "hostel" was. Throw out all your precious experiences from hostels, because Z Hostel will impress you from beginning to the end of your stay.
