I and my husband had a great experience. We had the shish chicken kabob and the beef kofta kabob. As Africans we expected some stew/sauce😅 but the rice was flavorful and the juice from the meat was sufficient. The portions were extremely generous and we needed a moment to get up after being over fed and got a box to pack the remaining of our food. We had the highly recommended ice mint lemonade and Mango drink, and it. did. not. disappoint, we ordered extra to go! We only wished the ones we got at the restaurant didn’t come in covered cups (we lost some volume on those 🫠) Overall it was a really good experience and the host was very warm and helpful. Thanks to everyone who left reviews and cheers to exploring food from other cultures!

Google
I really wanted to like this place after reading the reviews. The hummus was great. The beef shawarma was more like me a beef burrito in form and taste. The falafel balls were crispy on the outside but still raw on the very inside. I think the oil may be too hot. Here's the tell though..... Clean your bathrooms. It says so much about your restaurant that they're filthy. Overall mid-grade food but I would give it a second shot.

Very wholesome experience. The hospitality by owner was very warm and welcoming. The food was delicious without burning a hole in the pocket. We had ordered Chicken sheesh kebab platter along with Turkish coffee( must have) and mint lemonade.

Google
Very bad experience. Bad attitude. We asked for a Mix Grilled with a shawarma in it, and we got a bad sessional ground beef, tou can't even give it to your cat. (See the pictures)

Google
This restaurant has delicious Syrian cuisine. They are very generous in the dishes. The only point I have that they don’t offer French fries as a part of the dish. They offer rise or salad with the platers , and the French fries for extra fees.

Google
The best restaurant in Baltimore, the food is fresh, the portions are generous and the service is great!

Great customer service and amazing beef tikkas and fries. Will definitely be returning!

Google
This was a quiet little place. The service was great. Very kind and attentive. The food was good, but not outstanding. The sambosas were pretty good. I also got the beef kofta kebab entree with rice. The rice was not seasoned at all--just plain. The meat was nothing special. It was tender, but not well seasoned either. There was a little hummus to help out with the flavor. The best part was the iced mint lemonade. It was really good lemonade with TONS of fresh mint leaves blended into it. That was my favorite part.

Yelp
Genuinely one of the best and freshest meals we've had in awhile. It was so colorful, that's how you know it's good! Owners and employees are so kind. BYOB! We will 100% be coming back

Yelp
My friends and I came to Zaatar after it was highly recommended by friends from Baltimore and a local Uber driver. Ambiance & Service: Service was slow, but the staff was super friendly. We went around 6:30 pm, and it wasn't super busy for in-person dining, but you could see lots of pickup and delivery orders. The seating area was spacious and could fit large groups. Price: $$: moderately priced for the portion sizes. Food: My friends and I got the mixed shawarma and Tabbouleh salad. Everything was super tasty, and the portions were really generous! BYOB, and they don't have tap water. Pro-tip: don't say water is fine because they'll automatically bring you bottled water, costing you $2.

Yelp
Ordered from Zaatar for a work event and everything was DELICIOUS!! They delivered on time, with no issues, only wished I'd ordered some serving utensils, but they gave a ton of eating utensils, so I just utilized what I had!

Yelp
FOOD- Chicken and rice platter. Came with hummus and pita bread. HUGE portion! The pita was a bit tough but I'm not mad about it. Knafeh was good. Very fragrant and lots of pistachio pieces which really brought it together. Definitely trying the baklava next visit SERVICE- Was great. I got the opportunity to speak to the owner and it was an amazing conversation. Everyone was super kind and attentive AMBIANCE- Nice cozy spot with bar seating (BYOB). Definitely recommend trying this place out! Looking forward to going back there frequently when I'm looking to eat something other than fried foods. Planning on trying the chicken shawarma!

Yelp
don't pass by this little gem, the exterior is deceptively unattractive. Inside you find Mediterranean food. The chef is from Syria, and he knows what he's doing. We had red lentil soup, a salad and a Shawarma sandwich that were all really delicious. The service is friendly, and the interior quite a bit better than the exterior. I can't wait to come here again.

Yelp
Spinach pie - fluffy outside and tangy inside- nice and hot Fries- hot fresh and crispy, not too salty Beef shawarma- HUGE portion! Good flavor, nice and hot. The garlic sauce is so tasty and definitely powerful. I got rice instead of salad, but I think salad would have been a better choice to pair with the beef. There's also a nice big basket of warm naan that comes with it. Chicken shishkabob sandwich- WOW! Blew my socks away. The beef shawarma was good but this was the star of the show. Insane flavor and the chicken was juicy with that nice grilled flavor. Service- friendly, genuine, and fast but not rushing us. Good recommendations for newcomers & had answers for all our questions Atmosphere- dimly lit, comfortable, clean, and not crazy packed. We got there around 5pm on a Sunday, but around 6 is when a few more tables filled up.

Yelp
Zataar has seen better days. On a recent visit, food was subpar, not how I remember it. Twice fried kibbeh served to us, too brown and full of oil. They ran out of the Muhamara dip by 6 PM, server didn't mention it to us and they just hoped we wouldn't notice. Bread was extremely tough and unpleasant. Much better Middle Eastern food elsewhere.

Yelp
The best Arabic food in town. Someone referred me here. I would refer everyone who loves Mediterranean/Arabic food. It serves authentic food. Flavors were amazing.

Yelp
My only regret in writing this review is that I didn't discover this neighborhood gem sooner! Zaatar is dishing out some of the freshest, top notch Mediterranean food in the city from their home base in Fed. Ordering carryout was quick and easy, and my order was ready for pick up when I arrived--complete with friendly, welcoming service. I ordered a mix of vegetarian dishes to sample. Dare I say "diptastic" when it comes to the mixed dip sampler? The hummus--holy cow. Velvety smooth with the perfect ratio of tahini to chickpea to deliver a rich, complex flavor profile without being too "in your face tahini". The Baba Ganough is similarly blended to perfection but with a light airiness to its texture, offering a delicious easily spreadable take on this classic. Lastly, talk about a memorable bite with the Mohamarah. The best I've found in Baltimore. Red pepper forward with pops of nuttiness and a bright, citrus undertone from the pomegranate molasses. I also ordered the Tabbouleh--nailed the ratio of classic components (I always worry about it winding up too parsley dense) with a delicious brightness from the lemon acidity. The Veggie Kabob came with a great selection of char-grilled veggies. A perfect component to add to bites of pita + dip + tabbouleh. The pita bread was also top notch. Fresh, flavorful and the right density/thickness to make it the perfect vehicle for wrapping up bites of everything else ordered. Can't wait for my next order/visit Zaatar team!

Yelp
Food was fine, but definitely more fast food. Paper silverware, water in bottles might be good to go, but being there was not worth it.

Yelp
I had dinner at Zaatar a few weeks ago with seven friends. I don't often venture to Federal Hill, but if I did, I'd probably be a regular here. The space itself isn't much to look at (very casual), but it's in a great spot in Fed Hill (you can eat at Zaatar and then do a little bar hopping in the neighborhood). (Parking isn't great; I parked in a garage a short walk away to avoid having to find street parking near the restaurant). The service was great, very friendly. Some people in our group (myself included) aren't big fans of ordering waters and getting bottles of water, just an FYI. But the food was good all around. We shared their classic hummus, their mohamarah (one of my favorite dips), and their labneh with za'atar. All of the dips were fantastic. They had so much on the menu that I wanted - I was drooling and had a hard time deciding what to order. I decided on the lamb kofta kabob sandwich, which was delicious. Definitely a spot worth checking out!

Yelp
The food was excellent and the portions were very large. The service was friendly and helpful, our server was down to earth and made us feel welcome and wanted and not like 'outsiders' even as a female-female Caucasian couple in a Mediterranean restaurant playing Arabic music. It was not very busy, despite being a Friday night. We brought our own beer, and they even helped us out with a bottle opener since we were unprepared. I like a BYOB place, that scores major points for me. I would definitely go back. Whether with a group or for a date, I liked the vibe and I liked the food and overall it's something very different and welcome in the Fed Hill scene.

Yelp
My friend and I came here on a weekday and had a nice dinner! We were the only ones there when we arrived, but by the time we left, it had filled up more. I ordered the baba ganough and fattoush salad. The portion sizes were massive and both dishes were delicious! My friend got the hummus and zaatar pie (thick pita with thyme, olive oil, and sesame seeds). She wasn't a fan of the zaatar pie, but I tried it and really liked it! Service was great throughout the duration of our meal. My only complaint is that they didn't have tap water (only bottled water) and gave out disposable cutlery even though we were dining in.

Yelp
Zaatar has long been our favorite Mediterranean restaurant. Our favorite is the beef kebabs, made with the highest quality, melt in your mouth tender beef. The platters consist of the kebabs, authentic Mediterranean rice ( think it's "Kabuli", also excellent), grilled veggies, and a salad. Rather than go to the restaurant, we generally order out. Recently, we were very disappointed. The beef kebab was excellent as usual, but rather than serving the Kabuli rice, they've switched to plain ordinary white rice. On opening our meals, we were deservedly very disappointed. The Mediterranean rice was a key ingredient to their excellent food serving. The white rice was tasteless. Their price point is on the high side, but we never minded, until now. Why they changed the rice, I have no idea. But it ruined what was a perfect meal. I doubt we'll be ordering from them in the future.

Yelp
I hate to give a poor review, because the food tasted okay, however I ordered the kofta mixed grill which claimed to come with a side of grilled veggies, and the picture suggested there would be peppers, mushrooms etc. however I received a single tomato slice and a couple slivers of onion.

Yelp
Shawarma was not that great. Fries were crispy. Flavour was not on point. Service was good though.

Yelp
Very nice mediterranean resturant. Family owned. My husband and I came for lunch, were welcomed and sat right away. The server was willing to go over the menu, we ordered two mint lemonade, mixed meat platter and French fries. All the food was excellent! Highly recceommend

Yelp
I was craving some good Mediterranean food and for some reason have never looked for a good place in Baltimore. After a quick Yelp search, I found this place with raving reviews, so I had to check it out. When we got there on a Friday night during prime dinner time, the place was packed. The hostess informed us that it might be an hour or so for our food due to the amount of large parties at the restaurant. We decided to wait it out since we were pretty excited to try this place out. The waitress attended to us almost immediately, getting our drink and food orders. She was incredibly helpful and wanted us to have a great experience even if the kitchen was backed up.  And the food did not take the full hour-- we only waited around half the time, showing the efficiency and care that the restaurant has for its patrons. Onto the food! We ordered the Fried Halloumi, Baba Ghanoush, Stuffed Grape Leaves, and the Mixed (Chicken and Beef) Shawarma Platter. The Fried Halloumi stole the show. The light breading on the outside complimented the squeaky and savory melty cheese. There was some sweet notes in the cheese too, which made this cheese heavenly. It was incredible. The Baba Ghanoush was amazing, with not too much oil, and the Pita was warm and fluffy and the combination was phenomenal. The Grape Leaves were pretty good, but they were drenched in oil, so they were a bit on the heavy side. Lastly, the Shawarma Platter was a HUGE portion and came with rice and hummus. The hummus was fantastic-- so creamy and packed with flavor. The rice paired perfectly with the shawarma meat, which was fairly good, but a bit dry. Overall, everything we ordered was either good or exceptional, so I have no complaints here. The delicious food, amazing service, and great prices made this one of our favorite restaurant experiences in Baltimore. I definitely want to come back to try so much more! I would recommend making a reservation, but even then the kitchen and waitstaff was incredibly efficient, and this did not compromise the quality of the food!

Yelp
One of the best chicken shawarma sandwiches that I have ever had. Outstanding the sandwich was, and with a light, refreshing salad as an accompaniment, it was the perfect meal. But I could not pass up an order of falafel, which were delectably well seasoned and texturally pleasant (not too heavy, soft inside with a crispy coating). The restaurant was very, very generous with the falafel balls. Nice ambiance inside, too. Thank you for the great food and generosity!

Yelp
I have no idea how this is so highly reviewed. Really quite mediocre and not memorable. We left full but still hungry for being unfulfilled!

Yelp
Chicken shawarma sandwich? Ridiculous. The iced mint lemonade?Unreal. The people working there? Amazing. The beef hummus? Gimme fourteen of them

Yelp
After flying in from California, I decided I was too tired to go out and ordered yelp delivery. This delightful restaurant features delicious handmade bread with za'atar seasoning. Sold! I love za'atar. There was a delay in delivery, so I called the restaurant to confirm they'd accepted the order. The person who assisted me was very nice and professional. She knew my order and updated me on its retrieval status. The food is incredible. I ordered the pleasantly seasoned lentil soup, handmade bread with za'atar, and fried veggie balls with pumpkin and spices. Yum. Everything was delicious. My compliments to the chef. I would absolutely order from this restaurant again.
google avatar

Elliot H.

Yelp
My order was accurate and timely. I tried the Hummus with Meat (chicken), Spinach Pie, and Konafah. Everything was flavorful and tasted fresh. The best part was the Konafah. It was light and chewy and sweet in all the best ways. My meal didn't come with silverware -- be sure you have your own!

Jordan J.

Yelp
Great food - always fresh quick service. Try the lamb or chicken kebab platter: Dessert good as well we had the cookie and brownie. Don't forget about the frozen mango and ice mint lemonade. Great ambience as well low key vibe a very intimate restaurant. Should have more business

Jaia R.

Yelp
Everything was so fresh! I got the chicken shish kabob, bomb. The mint lemonade was incredible as well!!

Tyler S.

Yelp
I got the chicken Shawarma and it was great. The Rice and falafal both hit the spot as well. I highly recommend the food here and service was impressively quick.
google avatar

Yelp
Service was great. Not a single complaint there. I ordered the beef shawarma platter with salad, black tea with mint, and konafa. I came here for the konafa. Having been to Turkey several times, I expected something different. I was very disappointed. Didn't waste the calories eating this. The beef was ok. The hummus taste good. The chewing pita is always good. The black tea was a lipton tea bag. I think if this place was cheaper, I would understand. The beef $20. The tea $4. The konafa $5. I wouldn't return but I say try it yourself. I am an annoyingly picky eater.

Yelp
Very nice service & good quality food ! Kababs and Swarhma was really nice and garlic sayce

Yelp
I dropped in this place for a quick lunch after work. There were no other patrons, and my party of 2 had the place to ourselves. The restaurant atmosphere has more of a carry out vibe, but it did the trick. There was pay to park meters with parking available right out front. I would definitely return to try some other options. GLOWS: - The chicken Kabob platter was very filling! The amount of chicken given was much larger portion than other Mediterranean restaurants I have been to in the past. - The hummus and bread inclusions with the platter were tasty. I didn't need the hummus that I ordered as an appetizer before hand. - Service was laid back, but it was efficient and effective. - GROWS: - The salad dressing had a very sour taste to it. I did not enjoy the salad. - The bottle water option was purified water. Not my preference.

Yelp
I eat a lot of Mediterranean for take out and this one just didn't live up to the hype. Maybe it's good for Baltimore? Beef kofta was a little dry, but well seasoned. Hummus was bland. The bread that came with the kofta was good. Salad was basic romaine, cucumber and tomato with a good vinaigrette. Mohamarah was too sweet for me.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious food. The hummus and ful madames were incredible, and the tabbouleh was fresh and refreshing. Perfect takeaway spot!
google avatar

Linda P.

Yelp
I ordered food through here for delivery and the food was okay to be honest with you. My mix grill had hair on it. The pita bread was cold, I have ordered in other places and the pita is hot as it should be. I order a pita with zatar on it and the bread was so hard and cold. Sorry not up to my standards. This place was not for me I don't recommend.
google avatar

Hemanth D.

Yelp
Amazing food and great service! I certainly would go there again. Halloumi is the best I have had here! Hummus, Baba Ghanough, and Chicken Shwarma sandwich were all great.

Yelp
Food was delicious. Unfortunately I got food poisoning from this place and had to go to the hospital. I'm guessing something in the kitchen was expired and the problem is most likely resolved. Please just be careful.

Yelp
I have not been here in a few years, I love the Lamb Chops and Chicken SHawarma here. We stopped here for dinner 3 months ago, and it was a nice cold night for some Mediterranean food in the area. I ts a nice spot for families and friends. The Lamb Chops are juicey and tender. I love the jelly lamb sauce or great seasonings on them. Chicken Kebabs are great with the hummus. Nice place and owners here. Good to be back again.
google avatar

Anna C.

Yelp
I honestly would not have come here if I had known they would be serving food in take out containers like this still. We had to buy water bottles, but luckily they let us go to the liquor store down the block to have wine. Our server even cleaned wine glasses for us so we wouldn't have to drink from the bottle (haha). The food was pretty good, but again I wanted a sit down experience for a reason. I may come back again after covid to get the real experience.
google avatar

Yelp
Without exaggerating, in my opinion Zaatar is the tastiest restaurant in Baltimore. Each time my friend and I come here we are consistently pleased with our meals. I LOVE the lamb chops, they are so tender and always cooked well. The platter comes with stuffed bread, hummus, roasted veggies, and your choice of rice or salad. Make sure to ask for the toum sauce (garlic white sauce) because it's perfect to dip your meat in. The prices are extremely reasonable compared to other restaurants and for the amount of food you're getting. The owner is so welcoming and all the staff is friendly and polite. I love that I can find delicious, filling Halal food in fed hill. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Kalvis K.

Yelp
The chicken Shawarma was really good. The proportions were big and the chicken had really great flavor. Even better than the chicken Shawarma was the mint lemonade which was straight up bomb.
google avatar

LaSha J.

Yelp
I love chicken shawarmas. Zaatar''s has been the only restaurant in Baltimore that serves the tastiest! Fresh chopped tomatoes, cucumbers, a bit of mint and hummus are all included. The wrap itself looks handmade & is slightly toasted on a grill. Ive dined in as well & had a wonderful experience. The dining area is cosy and warm. Not very large, so you may want to.consider reservations if its an eveving. The waitress was very helpful by explaining the different menu choices. I ordered the mint lemonade, it was so refreshing. We ordered both the spicy & plain hummus, it was tasty & not too much heat. The chicken kabob entree platter came with large cuts of fresh grilled tomatoes, onions with a side salad & ali baba bread. Treat yourself & order an extra side of ali baba bread.
google avatar

Aral S.

Yelp
The menu is deceiving. The LARGE MIXED GRILL ENTREE states that it contains "BEEF KOFTA, BEEF SHISH, CHICKEN SHISH, BEEF SHAWARMA & CHICKEN SHAWARMA SERVED W/ HUMMUS, GRILLED VEGGIES, GARLIC SAUCE & ALI BABA BREAD" The shish was not one skewer of meat as you would usually expect. The beef shish very hard to even locate when the plate was served. It was literally 2 small shish pieces about the size of baby shrimp. When I brought this to the manager's attention, she did not take my concern seriously and made it seem as if what they served was what should be expected from the description. The server was very kind and the food tasted okay, but I would never recommend anyone order a mixed grill here. I also would not recommend anyone eat here based on the poor customer service.
google avatar

Hope W.

Yelp
Very delicious kabab platters! Meat was top tier quality. Beef was better than the chicken. You have to pick between rice or salad which was a downside because we were both a little hungry after the meal but overall very tasty!
google avatar

Ur Vegan Guid E.

Yelp
Not a satisfying meal. I bought two dishes: the falafel platter with a side of rice & the veggie kabob with a side of salad. Though the falafel was delicious and not super oily, the falafel platter doesn't come with any vegetables... The rice and hummus were delicious. I didn't get any pickles, even though the menu lists them as part of the platter. I wasn't a fan of how the veggies tasted in the veggie kabob, but perhaps that's just personal preference so I'm not including that factor in the ranking of the review. The ali baba bread was yummy. ‼They are losing stars partially because they label dishes that contain yogurt as vegan. So I wasn't sure if all the sauces that came with my "vegan" dish were actually vegan. They give out their meals in plastic bags, which is illegal in Baltimore City.

Yelp
On Wednesday of this week, I came here for lunch and ordered the chicken sharama bowl with rice, onions, peppers, and mushrooms. I was terribly sick that evening. It had to be food poisoning. I am relieved to report that I am now fine.
google avatar

Maria-Elena T.

Yelp
Went to a networking meeting where the hostess had picked up take-out from here. She regularly eats there and loves the food. I have to agree. Everything was good. The hummus was hearty, the chicken tasty, and salad was fresh. There were plenty of dressings and sauces to choose from. I would recommend this place to take out in quantity- they do a good job. I would like to eat here sometime.

Yelp
I have lived near Zaatar for a while but just kept forgetting to order from them. What an oversight on my part!! I ordered with friends and tried a ton of stuff off their menu (chicken schwarma, falafel, hummus, stuffed grape leaves, cheese pie, spinach pie, Greek salad... and a few more things, I forgot). Anyways, the food was a huge hit. The schwarma was the thing I was least excited about when I ordered it, but it was SO good. Very flavorful, large portion, would definitely get it again. Another surprise was the cheese pie. I mean, cheese and bread is always good (that's why I ordered it) but the flavor was way better than I was respecting and was a huge hit with my group. Finally, the Greek salad was massive. On top of that, it came with a GIANT block of feta. Long story short, try it, you won't regret it.
google avatar

Keeka K.

Yelp
I paid over $30 ($28.99 before tax) for a the large mixed grill and deeply regret it. On top of being a laughable amount of food for $30, it was dry and bland. And why would they say it comes with hummus if it's not even enough hummus for 1/5 of the meal. It's only enough for a few bites. I would have ordered a side of it if the menu didn't say it included hummus. Like why are you so stingy with the hummus??? It's not even that good! The only reason I'm not giving it 1 star is because it was edible, seemed relatively healthy, and the Ali Baba bread was good good to eat it with.
google avatar

Alexis M.

Yelp
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. Had an issue with doordash dropping my initial off order at the wrong location. Ended up placing a second order. The owner called to say doordash didn't give him his money back-- no problem. Food so good I paid twice. Good deeds are necessary in this world. Best Mediterranean cuisine in the city. I ordered the kabobs and everything is so flavorful!!!!!!! The owner is caring, friendly, and extremely polite. You can tell the food is made with love. If I could give them 30 stars I would.
google avatar

Kathy T.

Yelp
4.5. Came here with friends for dinner and they were slammed with takeout orders. BYOB which is nice. We had apps: baba ganoush, mohamorah , lebneh, special bread, beef kebabs and lamb chops. The lamb chops were amazing as was the garlic sauce. Everything was so good and they were very nice. Service was slow because they're missing some employees, and you don't go for the ambience (especially the long line waiting for food), but the food was so good and reasonably priced that I can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Janine T.

Yelp
In the most recent times I've been back, service has been good. Alberto remembers preferences and always seems happy to help. Kind staff makes it feel like visiting a friend when dining out. I've been asking for the pita to be reheated if it comes out cold, which does the trick. I eat the beef shawarma + rice + garlic sauce wrapped in pita. I haven't found a bad entree yet here. The chicken kebabs are also good, but nothing tops the beef shawarma for me. Note: Near closing time, you might not be able to get any meat dishes. One night, I stopped in late for food, and all that was left was hummus.
