Ambiance was great pretty good. It's a cool spot and has more of a bar than restaurant vibe. We only came here (after trying to sit at 2 other restaurants) because nothing else was open if you arrive on the later ferry. If you're visiting with a larger party, we had 6 adults and 2 children, they might not be able to accommodate easily.
Service was not great at all! You will wait at the entrance, which is corded off, for a while before anyone will notice you, then tell you if they will be able to seat you and when.
There was 1 food runner who was obviously very busy with every table. There was 1 bartender that was doing his best and also running his drinks to the tables. Our server took our order after waiting for about 10 minutes, forgot to enter our order of nachos, but the rest of our order came out correct. However, the server just left at some point and we never saw him again. A different worker, (out of a few others that seemed to just be hanging around the register) that just happened to see us looking for our server came to finally give us our bill and acknowledged that yes, the server had just left and he did not know why or even if the server would be coming back.
As a Mexican person familiar with authentic Mexican food, the carne asada was flavorful, but the tortillas and/or asada were a bit greasy, leaving a not so great aftertaste. It's not possible to order a side of avocado so I can only assume the guacamole is premade, not fresh. You have to request salsa. I asked for the hottest salsa, they served a green salsa which was actually spicy and flavorful. However, $20 is a bit steep for 3 tacos de asada. Again, nothing else was open.
On the plus side, the guava margarita was great.
Overall, if you're Mexican familiar with authentic Mexican food, you'll want to pass this place up, unless you just want a good cocktail. After all you are in Puerto Rico and Mexican food isn't probably the number 1 choice here as a visitor of color. You will be better off getting some Puerto Rican food at a different establishment on the island.
