Unfortunately, this place is far from the kind of hostel where you feel welcome. The staff seemed stressed and annoyed, and questions were answered reluctantly – if at all. Often, you’re just sent to the tourist information center, even for things like showers, which cost 300 yen for 3 minutes of cold water.
At check-in, I was told to leave my bag outside in the rain, even though there was clearly enough space inside. Rooms are cleaned immediately after someone checks out – sometimes as early as 8 AM – with loud noise and no regard for guests who are still sleeping.
Showers and toilets are cleaned right before check-out time, making it difficult to freshen up in the morning.
After 10 AM, you’re no longer allowed to stay in the hostel. You may remain in the front area, but only if there are no restaurant guests. Your luggage has to be put outside again, even if your ferry doesn’t leave until the afternoon.
The common area doubles as a restaurant and can only be used when there are no paying guests. Otherwise, you’re asked to leave.
Most disappointing of all is that the place makes no effort to accommodate ferry schedules. For travelers needing a place to rest or wait before or after check-in, this hostel is completely unsuitable. There are definitely better options nearby.
